Evaluation of Zippy's friends for primary school age children
Masařová, Anna ; Pavlas Martanová, Veronika (advisor) ; Frombergerová, Anna (referee)
The thesis focuses on the Zippy's Friends prevention program, which is aimed at promoting social skills among children between 5-7 years of age. The first part of the thesis presents the theoretical framework for the main practical part. The goal was to conduct an evaluation of the implementation of this programme. The thesis is focused on alternative uses of the methodology and application. The data was obtained through semi-structured interviews with five respondents. The research shows that working with the methodology is not just a matter of the teacher within the classroom, but it involves a wider sphere of professionals working with children. In practice, the methodology is used not only for children between 5-7 years of age, but also for older children with various specificities. According to the respondents, some flexibility in working with the methodology and adapting it to the needs of specific children seems to be effective. According to interviewees, the Zippy's Friends methodology is a very versatile tool that can be used in different ways. However, the essence of the programme in the form of "Zippy Tips" and the Zippy's Friends story remains in most cases. Despite the fact that none of the evaluations conducted so far have dealt directly with alternative uses, some similar conclusions...
Manifestations of spirituality in coping with stress caused by university exams
Pustková, Martina ; Beláňová, Andrea (advisor) ; Doubek, David (referee)
This work is a basic research in the field of manifestations of spirituality as a coping strategy in students facing stress during preparation for university exams. In an effort to supplement the existing mostly quantitative research with qualitative data concerning spiritual coping in the academic environment, I performed an analysis of interviews with twelve psychology students immediately after passing a course exam using the grounded theory method. The basic division of informants was into those who believe in God, who believe in the existence of something beyond this world, and those who do not believe in anything; they rationally reject it. Even those who rationally reject spirituality can use spiritual coping. The psychology students who have participated in this project consider the exam to be manageable on the basis of a direct proportion "the more and better I prepare for the exam, the more likely I am going to pass it". Spirituality is reflected in the perceived possibilities of what they may or may not influence in the preparation by their own will. Spiritual coping is thus closely related to gaining control over the situation. Students, from those with a very complex relationship to God, to those for whom the spiritual world is not relevant, tried to gain maximum control over the...
How elderly people cope with loneliness: comparative study of coping strategies
Hottková, Lucie ; Grygar, Jakub (advisor) ; Hasmanová Marhánková, Jaroslava (referee)
This masters's thesis focuses on coping strategies elderly people use to cope with their loneliness. The thesis uses twenty semi-structured interviews with the elderly living in nursery home and community-dwelling elderly, which are then compared. Theoretically the thesis is based on Robert Weiss's typology of social and emotional loneliness and the current knowledge of the relationship between health and loneliness and coping strategies. The major results are that experiencing loneliness does not differ between the two selected groups, which contradicts the conclusions of previous research and that health was an important aspect in both groups. Further the thesis concludes that no relationship was found between the number of coping strategies the elderly use and their loneliness. Loneliness of the elderly in relation to the concept of coping strategies, in addition with comparassion of the elderly living in nursery home and community-dwelling elderly, is not greatly discussed topic in the Czech Republic. Thus, the master's thesis constibutes to the discussion within the Czech context on the coping strategies the elderly people use to cope with their loneliness and the differences or similarities between the two selected groups.

Došková, Eliška ; Franke, Helena (advisor) ; Páchová, Anna (referee)
This thesis deals with the issue of biopsychosocial factors in childbirth. It aims to map factors and their possible relationships that contribute to a positive birth experience. The study used a mixed methods research design. A questionnaire was used for the quantitative part of the research. Respondents completed a set of online questionnaires about pregnancy and childbirth, followed by a questionnaire on childbirth experience, stress management strategies (SVF-78), and the Psychosocial Climate of the Maternity Hospital (KLI-P). For the qualitative part, semi-structured interviews were used. The research sample for the quantitative part consisted of 81 first-time mothers, from which five respondents who scored above average on the birth experience questionnaire were subsequently interviewed. The results showed that the absence of obstetric complications, perceived low pain intensity, delivering without pain relief medication, a pleasant psychosocial climate of the maternity hospital and stress avoidance coping strategies significantly contributed to a positive birth experience. The qualitative analysis results showed that a close person, especially a partner, who assists with their passive presence or practical help, also plays an important role. Women with positive birth experiences in the...

Kovářová, Tereza ; Janíková, Barbara (advisor) ; Barták, Miroslav (referee)
Background: Low-threshold addiction facilities are in contact primarily with active drug users and deal with a very wide range of problems and situations, including those in crisis. The main topic of this work are coping strategies of informal caregivers for the elderly, ie people providing family care to a dependent seniors. Other topics that are closely related to the main topic of this work are stressors (ie the causes of stress) of informal caregivers of the elderly, and their basic characteristics (gender, age, relationship with the caregiver and others). The main goal of the research, on which the empirical part of this work is based, is to decipher which coping strategies are used by informal caregivers (not only) in the care of the elderly. Related to this main goal is the discovery of what informal carers face stressors and what their characteristics are. The research is based on a quantitative research method, specifically on a questionnaire survey. The results of the research are compared with the findings of the authors of research on the same topic conducted in Finland. The whole issue is examined against the background of an aging Czech society. Czech society is aging and according to statistical predictions, this trend will continue in the future. These predictions indicate that the percentage of dependent seniors in the population will only increase. For this reason, informal care for the elderly will always be very important, because the social system of the...
