Narration as Principle of Individuation

This thesis in the beginning explores various approaches to relation of human mind and language. It focuses concretely on contact of reader and literal work. It deals with theory language structures and their relation to the human view of the world. It treats of discipline about right understanding of text and his impact on human mind. The work explores narrative ability of recognition, relation of reader and text in light of structuralism, ability of filling meta-texts structures. Further it analyzes the significance of myth on human mind, its influence on society and henceforth its ritual use. Next the work is about relation of myth and fairy tale, about their similarity and difference and about mythical thinking in our current society. The last chapter is key part of the work, to where leads previous text. It explores individuation process and influence of narrative on its successful completion. In this part the work examines total influence of narrative on human soul and possibility of narrative psychotherapy and analyzes narration from the view of the depth psychology. Selected conceptions of interpretation in intercultural dialogue

In reference to Hans-Herbert Kögler's critical-hermeneutical approach, presented paper identifies the act of interpretation as an underlying assumption for realization of intercultural dialogue. The paper is divided in two parts. First part is a discussion of key concepts such as dialogue, identity, communication and recognition. It can also be read as an attempt to capture the development of the idea of intercultural dialogue in a historical perspective. The interulturality is defined here as an ethos. Second part presents particular hermeneutically oriented conceptions of intercultural dialogue, namely the conceptions of Raimon Panikkar, Ram Adhar Mall, Vincent Shen, Franz Martin Wimmer and Hans-Herbert Kögler. The recent shift in methodology of intercultural dialogue is characterized by merger of the paradigms of communication and recognition and is identified in Hans-Herbert Kögler's integrative approach.

Meaning and Understanding in the Context of Thought of Jacques Derrida and Hans-Georg Gadamer The focus of the present study is mainly on the discussion of the process of understanding and emergence of meaning. Using the example of Gadamer's hermeneutics it becomes clear what are the limits of positive attempt to express conditions of understanding within the context of the philosophy of finitude. In spite of its undeniable benefits, hermeneutic understanding shows itself to be vulnerable towards ideology and it could be seen as suspected of hidden normativity thanks to its emphasis on agreement and coherency. Derrida's deconstruction on the other hand shows the dynamics of emergence of meaning in language, it emphasizes plurality and ambiguity in contrast towards totalizing unicity and agreement; however, due to this approach, it is unable to offer anything close to what we call the truth. In a parallel line of interpretation, philosophical- antropological approach of Ernst Cassirer standing in comparison with Heidegger's existential analytics of Dasein shows that already at the fundamental level in the process of establishment of terms and concepts and earlier our understanding is already determined to a certain extent. Towards the Boundaries of Fictional Narrative

My thesis examines the nature of contemporary fictional narration and explores its relations to other types of narration - mainly texts where educational or informative function prevails over the aesthetic one. The whole work is divided into four parts. The first part is theoretical; it sets up basic areas of interest and names methods, tools and models that will be tested on selected examples from Slavonic literatures. The second part analyses spatial and temporal relations of fictional narrative. Chapter 2.1 treats time and space in a novel mostly from the compositional point of view (based on the example of Sasha Sokolov's A School for Fools), while in the next chapter, focusing on ideational interconnections between literary and social- political utopias, both fictionality and temporality are understood more broadly than mere narrative categories: they serve as certain points of connection between the immanent occurrence of meaning in the "world of text" and its historical background. The third part continues in this direction, only what we mean by context here is not the collective historical background, but an individual sphere of everyday life. Hermeneutic analysis of the Augustin Ujević's poetry (1930/1945)

Augustin (Tin) Ujević (1891/1955) belongs to the most important Croatian poets. This thesis proposes to think of Ujević's life, work and view of world against background of his poetry from the 1930s and first half od 1940s by the year 1945, when the regime of then Yugoslavia forbade him to publish. During this period he published two anthologies of poetry, Auto na korzu (1932) and Ojađeno zvono (1933), both of which form skeleton of this work, and as well two collections of essays, Skalpel kaosa (1938) and Ljudi za vratima gostionice (1938); both of them have been keystones of study of Ujević's contemplations about literature and life. Theoretical and metodological resource of this work is interpretation in the sense of hermeneutical philosophy of W. Dilthey, H. G. Gadamer and P. Ricoer.

Akutagawa Ryūnosuke and His Considerations on Literature

The thesis is focused on a literary theoretical debate between two outstanding Japanese writers: Akutagawa Ryunosuke and Tanizaki Junichiro. As a reaction to this debate, Akutagawa wrote a literary critical essay Bungeitekina, amarini bungeitekina (Literary, All Too Literary) which contains Akutagawa's considerations on literature and which is analyzed in this thesis. I have also devoted my thesis to other literary theoretical essays written by Akutagawa. The goal of this thesis is to follow the influence of Akutagawa's literary considerations of his works and also to set his work into the wider context of Japanese literature. Hermeneutics is the methodology chosen for this work. To achieve the set-out goal, biographies on Akutagawa and other literary studies focused on Akutagawa were studied.

Story and its "what" and "about what"

The thesis deals with the question of interpretation of narrative works of fiction in regard to what the text refers to (what is usually termed reference). On the work of three differently focused authors (Frege, Ortega y Gasset, Shklovsky) it studies reference pushed aside as a thing unimportant or even impossible in art. Structuralism, developing mainly in France after 1960, supplants these questions with exploring the literalness of literary works and their inner relations, allowing narratology to arise. Subsequently, Paul Ricoeur aims for the synthesis of structuralism and hermeneutics. Approaching literary work as discourse, he distinguishes the "what" and "what about" of works, following Frege's distinction between sense and reference (meaning), while reference of a work is not descriptive. In Time and Narrative he uses the term refiguration instead of reference and emphasizes the temporal aspect of literary work and its reception. The thesis is closed with a brief interpretation of Budapest, a novel by Chico Buarque (2003).

Translation as a Cultural Phenomenon. Geirge Steiner: After Babel.

The thesis is based on the translation of a seminal work by George Steiner After Babel (1975), published in Triáda Publishing in 2010. The study presented in this volume is divided into three parts: the first one sketches a general portrait of George Steiner as a literary and cultural critic, language philosopher and a Jewish thinker much of his thought is dedicated to the Shoah. The second part traces Steiners intellectual profile with regards to his life story. The third part introduces Steiner's poetics and ethics of translation, paying attention especially to the phenomenon of translation in the colonial and postcolonial world. It maps the succession of metaphorical images Steiner uses to pinpoint translation and interpretation in general, especially the metafor of war and of hospitality. It concludes that a metaphorical use of the term "translation" for the whole field of understanding, interpretation and cultural tradition is not of much help in our apprehension of what translation proper is.

Old Testament Interpretation and the Postmodern Conditions

The task of diploma thesis "Old Testament Interpretation and the Postmodern Conditions" is to critically reflect the course and current issues of Old Testament research. This reflection is based on the analysis of research situation and chosen approaches to the Old Testament. The thesis shows, that the Old Testament interpretation must be based on lively dialogue. It doesn't mean just the dialogue with the biblical texts or the state of current research, but also with the situation of the world often called as "postmodern". The important assumption of this diploma thesis is that the authentic interpretation includes also the constant and deep self-examination of interpreter and his place in the society. It doesn't mean, that the interpretation ought to be the self-presentation of interpreter. On the contrary, it should remain critical and solid, but also enacted in deep solidarity with the neighbour and shared world. The results of this diploma thesis show the importance of keeping the critical grounds of Old Testament research and interpretation. Only the intensive and unappealing criticism could be a basis for the future quality and solidness of the research and upholding its matter in wider research community and society. Reflexion of Child's "Canonical Approach"

Anotation This diploma thesis "Reflection of the Canonical Approach of Brevard S. Childs" deals with the charakteristic focuses and postulates of the canonical approach of Brevard S. Childs with focusing on his two important publications: Introduction to the Old Testament as Scripture (1979) and Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments (1993). It shows a short intersection of his longterm academic exploratory work and with respect to the interpretative emphasis describes a brief overview of history of the canon exploration from the Reformation to the so called New Biblical Theology. The content centre of the diploma thesis is to introduce the main methological foundations of Childs'canonical approach with regard to its central postulates - for example: canonical intentionality, final form of the text, etc. and to those hermeneutical elements which are applicable in practical pastoral work of the church. At the end of the diploma thesis there is a short practical guide to the theological exegesis based on the main hermeneutical principles of the Childs'canonical approach.
