Apostle Paul and the Roman Law
Říhová, Ladislava ; Lukeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Pavlík, Jiří (referee)
Apoštol Pavel a římské zákony Apostle Paul and the Roman Law bc. Ladislava Říhová The thesis deals with problematics associated with the life and first of all with Apostle PaulVs Roman citizenship. The first chapter contains a brief description of PaulVs life which de facto makes the outline of the whole work. Special attention is being paid to PaulVs origin, his education and last but not least to his conversion to Christianity. Noticed is also PaulVs missionary activity and his end. In the second part of the first chapter there is discussed the view of the Scipture on the Roman citizenship of the Apostle, supplemented with a historical excursus about the history of Roman citizenship as such taking into special consideration the time of Paul's life i.e. the time of the Early Principate. Of course, the possibility of the Apostle's double citizenship is mentioned. From Paul's civil state follow necessarily his rights which form his further destiny. In particular there are concerned Paul's iudicial proceedings which are extensively discussed in the Acts of the Apostles. The second chapter therefore engages in the history and necessities of Roman iudicial proceedings and the appellate right of Roman citizens, which was used by Paul as Roman citizen, too. Whereas the second chapter of the work is...

Impersonal verbs in a diachronic and typological perspective
Popelíková, Jiřina ; Dušková, Libuše (referee) ; Čermák, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive typological description of Old and Middle English verbs attested to have been capable of participating in impersonal constructions and to outline their historical development up to the point of their disappearance in the course of Early Modern English. It categorizes the verbs both on the basis of their grammatical and semantic features and attempts to establish a link between the impersonal and personal usage of each individual case. In this process it utilizes the information gained through an extensive study of bibliographical materials in combination with examples from original literary sources made available through Old and Middle English dictionary entries. Following the results obtained through a comparative analysis of the verbs of both historical periods it attempts to map the gradual cession of the impersonal constructions, which it sees as concomitant of morpho-syntactic changes that took place during the Middle English period and which resulted in the language transforming from its original, highly inflectional form into an analytical grammatical system of the Present Day English.

The imperativ of transcendence. On the sense of philosophy and the philosophical possibilities in the end of metaphysical epoch according to Jan Patočka. The interpretation of chosen texts (1929-1952)
Sladký, Pavel ; Ritter, Martin (referee) ; Karfík, Filip (advisor)
One of the great themes of Jan Patočka's philosophy is the problem of essence and meaning of philosophy. If philosophical thinking aspires to overall understanding, the philosophical self-reflection is a natural part of the very philosophical activity. From the end of 1920's till the beginning of 1950's it is possible to find three ways of philosophical self-reflection in Patočka's texts. The first one is contained in the series of early writings in which Patočka successively, and from the different points of view, shows essential aspects of "personal philosophical life". The second one is identical with Patočka's interpretation of Socratic teaching. Finally, we can trace back the third way in programmatic text "Negative Platonism" in which Patočka in detail determines relation between metaphysics and philosophy. The purpose of our thesis consisted in successive and systematic interpretation of the forms of Patočka's metaphilosophy, mentioned above, and their relation. Of course, there is a development in Patočka's thinking and terminology; we show, however, that meaning of central metaphilosophical motives does not change in his writings - general attributes of philosophical subjectivity from the early texts are constitutive "parts" of Patočka's Socrates as a paradigm of philosophical activity in general,...

In co- operation of the Czech Senate and Parliamen chairman is also announced the competition for european students called Innovating Minds (since 2008). All the professionals who deal with this problem are aware of the fact that the number of successful members of society raise due to effective support and education of children since the early childhood. Pupils with the exceptional talents, according to the valid Czech law, are placed and classified as the pupils with special needs. Our contemporary trend in education of pupils and students with special needs is integration in possible way in dependence of the real needs and demands. Of course, the same law is valid and belongs to extraordinary...

Werenwolves in European culture context
Koubová, Michaela ; Opletalová, Lenka (referee) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor)
We have met a motif of the werewolf in the course of the whole European cultural history. Already ancient authors - poets, historians and doctors, as well, devoted themselves to study of this phenomenon. In particular, a zone of Arcadia and its mythical king Lykaon were the most emblazoned with werewolf myths. German ulfhednars and quantity of Slavic superstitions show that belief in werewolves was widespread among the other European nations. Even in Middle Ages werewolves did not fall into oblivion, and there dealt with them not only religious literature, but also belles lettres - of which poem Bisclaveret of Maria de France is probably the most famous. Actual expansion and intensification of belief in werewolves occurred in the early modern age, owing to that many paid life. Werewolfness was particularly in France a widespread crime. Work of religious and other authors on whether and how the metamorphosis of humans in the animal is possible, we can see up to the late modern times. A different view, however, remained doctors, who since antiquity claimed that lykantropia is a kind of melancholy, and therefore a mental illness. Of the many superstitions and myths, the theme was taken over by literature and later by film in 19th and especially in 20th century. Flood of horrors and fantasy, which we can meet...

Aldous Huxley's early novels of ideas: from Crome Yellow to Those Barren Leaves
Renner, Luboš ; Hilský, Martin (referee) ; Procházka, Martin (advisor)
The literary reputation of Aldous Huxley, the novelist, has scarcely ever been as good as that of Aldous Huxley, the essayist. In fact, as some critics claim, Huxley's novels have the crucial flaw of not being proper novels at all - they are (the critics say) 1 actually essays, some of them more skillfully dramatized than others. Whether the novels really suffer from their essayistic quality is a question to be answered by the reader; certain it is, though, that mixing the two genres, the novel and the essay, was Huxley's intention: As he once acknowledged in an interview, his aim as a novelist was ~to arrive, technically, at a perfect fusion of the novel and the essay"z. What are the main features of a Huxleyan essayistic novel? First , it is scarcity of plo t. In most Huxley' s novels nothing ever happens: people come and go, they meet and part, they (try to) make love, and - most importantly - they talk. This is, of course, true especially of Huxley's early conversation novels, a late novel like Ap e and E s s en c e probably being the most noticeable exception. Another aspect of the essayistic novel follows on the first. The scarce plot does not lead to any overall des i g n ; the novels end, as it were, in the middle of 'action'; there seems to be no single 'message' to be arrived at. Again, this...

Dynamics of digestive enzymes in the gut of ticks \kur{Ixodes ricinus} during blood feeding on the host.
KONVIČKOVÁ, Jitka
Proteolysis of ingested blood proteins is a crucial physiological process in ticks. This thesis focuses on profiling of dynamics of digestive enzymes in the ticks Ixodes ricinus during the course of blood-feeding on the host and during digestive phase after detachment from the host. We have measured the activity of digestive peptidases (using specific fluorescent substrates and inhibitors). The enzyme activities were negligible at the early stage of bloodfeeding than increased dramatically towards the end of the feeding period and dropped down immediately after detachment from the host. The activity of most enzymes increased again during the digestive phase before oviposition of females or metamorphosis of nymphs. The protein level of each peptidase was confirmed by immunolocalization using Western blot analyses.

Nursing care of the operation area before and after the operation
KRATOCHVÍLOVÁ, Michaela
Theoretical outcomes The preparation of the operating field is an important part of all preoperative preparation. Preoperative preparation, before surgical intervention, cannot be neglected. In most cases, the doctor will not perform an operation without proper preoperative preparation. The only exception is urgent surgical intervention for which only the most basic preoperative preparation is provided. Preoperative preparation can be categorized as long-term, short-term, or immediate. A thorough and proper preparation of the operating field reduces any development of postoperative wound complications. The aim of thorough preoperative preparation of the operating field is to reduce any risk of developing postoperative wound complications. Postoperative care prevents postoperative complications. It is aimed at controlling the state of a patient's current health after surgical intervention, but also the surgical wound and its dressing. Both nurses and doctors are obliged to perform these controls. In the early postoperative period, the client stays in the ward or in the postoperative room. In the case of arising complications during surgical intervention, the client is moved to the ICU/ARO. The Aims of the Thesis The aim of the thesis is to map the differences in preoperative preparation of the operating field among surgery departments, and to find the differences between preparation in the operating field before a scheduled and an urgent surgical intervention. Furthermore, the aim is to find out if nurses perform preoperative and postoperative care properly. The following questions were chosen: What are the differences in preoperative preparation of the operating field among surgery departments? How do nurses perform preoperative and postoperative care of the operating field? Implemented methods In order to gain the desired information, a qualitative form of research was chosen, namely an in-depth interview method, a method of questioning, and an observational method. Observation was implemented using the hidden observation method. The respondents in the research were the nurses from the urology and the surgery departments at a hospital in Vysočina. Data collection was conducted from February to March, 2014. The acquired data was then analyzed through an open coding method. Results The subsequently transcribed interviews and observations were carefully analyzed using the 'pencil & paper' method and open coding. Eventually, five categories were created: preoperative preparation before a scheduled surgical intervention, preoperative preparation before an acute or urgent surgical intervention, preparation of the operating field, postoperative wound care, medical documentation. Conclusion The research suggests that nurses are well aware of the complete preoperative and postoperative care. What is, however, surprising is how adherence to the principles of barrier care and the client's intimity vary in the course of providing this care. The conclusions in this thesis should aim at an improvement of preoperative and postoperative care of a client and to eliminate any discovered shortcomings in the provided nursing care. The practical outcome of this thesis will be an article in a professional magazine for nurses.
