Water retention capacity of humic substances
Cihlář, Zdeněk ; Šmejkalová, Daniela (referee) ; Kučerík, Jiří (advisor)
Humic acids were extracted from South Moravian lignit. That humic sample was oxidized by either H2O2 or HNO3. In next step, oxidized humic acids were polymerized by formaldehyde in order to obtain cross-linked structures with improved water retention capacity. Affinity to water and water retention capacity of obtained products were studied by thermal analysis (DSC – differential scanning calorimetry and TGA – thermogravimetric analysis). In order to study above-mentioned parameters two different methods were used. First approach represented sorption of water to humic acids from three controlled humidities, for description of those processes TGA measurement was used. Second study was based on the DSC monitoring of water excess sorption. Results obtained from TGA measurements showed an increasing sorption ability with increasing relative humidity of the environment. DSC measurerents in hermetically sealed containers resulted in an increasing content of water bound by humic acids structures. All the modified samples of humic acids (oxidized as well as oxidized and modified by formaldehyde) gave higher retention capacity in comparion with the parental humic sample.

Media Presentation of the Pope Benedict XVI.
Pániková, Klára ; Češka, Jakub (advisor) ; Fulka, Josef (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse the media presentation of the Pope Benedict XVI. in the Czech press. We arise from the assumtion that the way the Czech press writes about the present Pope is set by a certain discourse. That is why we use the method of dicourse analysis designed by Michel Foucault. Having carefully analysed altogether 690 articles from selected newspapers and magazines published between 02/04/2005 and 31/12/2007 we reached a number of fragmental results which in the end turned to be the parts of the searched for discourse. In so doing some hidden motives, which seem to form an esential part of the media presentation of the Pope Benedict XVI., emerged. Along with that the absence of the journalists' ability to assess the proper meaning of some words or to lay proper stresses appeared too. As this thesis brings out, the journalists are at the same time impossible to take a step forward in this as their way of thinking about the Pope is set by the discourse (that they themselves first created). So, we came to the conclusion that the media presentation of the Pope Benedict XVI. is influenced by, e.g. stereotypes we Czechs have about the German nationality or artificially (by journalists) connected events in Benedict's life. We also show that the present Pope is a very good object of...

Measurement of \kur{in situ}Phasporus Availability in Acidified Soils using Iron-Infused Resin soils.
ČAPEK, Petr
A hybrid anion resin was tested for in situ phosphorus (P) availability measurement in soils of two stands recovering from acidification and having different P-sorption characteristics. The phosphate (P-PO4) sorption capacity of the resin (before saturation) was 48 mol g-1. Sorption and elution were tested under P-PO4 concentrations common in acidic soils (0 0.42 mmol l-1) either with or without the presence of sulfate (0.2 mmol l-1). The efficiency of P-PO4 sorption was independent of the sulfate and was 100 +/- 0.2% (n = 56, +/- SD). The P-PO4 recovery stabilized after six elution steps (each: 50 ml of 0.5 M sodium hydroxide, resin/solution 5:1). The efficiency of P-PO4 recovery was 80 +/- 7% and was used to evaluate field measurements. We determined the amount of P-PO4 in the field using resin bags in three consecutive years. The results indicate that bioavailable P is negatively related to the soil ability to retain P.

The possibilities of firm financing and insurance during the international market expansion
OCHOTNÁ, Jana
Nowadays, we may say that entrepreneurial activities include, among others, efforts aimed at searching and discovering new opportunities on the markets, the ability to make use of new chances and undertake any risks that may result to economic success as well as failure. The modern world is the world of constant changes and uncertainties. In such a world, those will win who will learn how to make use not only of opportunities on the market, but many times also the threats that uncertainty may bring along. The main aim was the analysis of the finance and insurance situation of the firm entering the international market. The other aim was the analysis of insurance and finance market and the concept of the best possibility for the firm. The result of this analytic part was the prediction, that the firm is able to enter the international market with direct business method, but first of all there is necessary to introduce it{\crq}s production, prices and the whole firm on the websites. During the analysis the firm has to specify it{\crq}s strategy and aims, makes calculations and decides of which insurance will be siutable for it. The next step was the decision of using the export financing, If it decides to finance the export, it{\crq}s necessary to chooze, if it will use the financing by private or state grant. For the firm the using of exports buyer or supplier credit will be two acceptably methods. The credit insurance by the state or private institutions is the other step to enter the international market. There are various kinds of other insurance (e.g. cargo, casco insuranc or the payment risk insurance).

Study of translation initiation factors eIF3 and eIF4E in leukemic cell lines
Mrvová, Silvia ; Mašek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Haškovec, Cedrick (referee)
eIF3 and eIF4E are very important eukaryotic translation initiation factors. eIF3 is practically involved in every step of translation initiation, eIF4E is important mainly for its ability to bind the cap. Mammalian factor eIF3 consists of thirteen subunits, many subunits have a function apart from translation, such as in apoptosis and mitosis. It was proved that upregulated or downregulated expression of some subunits as well as upregulated expression of eIF4E is linked with different types of tumours and malignancies in human. In the first part of my work, I was examining the amount of transcripts of subunits eIF3a, b, d, e, f, g, h, i and j in cell lines which are used for study of acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. I tried to find if there is a difference in the amount of trancripts between lines or between lines and control line in these subunits. According to experiments and statistical analysis, I proved increased amount of mRNA for eIF3b subunit in control cell line NC-NC in comparison with other used leukaemic cell line except from line NALM6. Other differences were not statistically important. In the second part of my work, I was analysing 3' UTR region of transcripts of eIF4E1 and utilising of polyadenylation signals in this trancript. I used the leukeamic cell lines again. The experiments clearly...

The collaboration of the Catholic Church and priests with the socialist regime of the GDR in theological and ethical reflection
Buss, Gregor ; Rethmann, Albert-Peter (advisor) ; Ovečka, Libor (referee) ; Šrajer, Jindřich (referee)
The doctoral thesis tries to reflect the collaboration of Catholic priests with the Ministry for State Security (= Ministerium für Staatssicherheit; MfS or Stasi) in the former GDR from a theological perspective. This is done in two steps. The first part of the thesis illustrates the historical background. This includes an introduction into the history, ideology and working methods of the Stasi. The main goal, however, is to give an overview of the amount and charakter of the collaboration of Catholic priests. The first part ends with a typology of the different motives and reasons for cooperating with the Stasi. In the second part the problem of collaboration is reflected from an ethical perspective. It is not intended to evaluate individual cases, but to elaborate criteria for the evaluation of individual cases. The guiding assumption is that the cooperation with state security ether arose from a lack of willing, a lack of ability, or a lack of cognition. The priests were therefore either limited in their moral motivation, their freedom or their cognitive competence. To what extent these limitations were caused by the priests themselves or by the surrounding circumstances, can be regarded as a key question when it comes to evaluating cases of collaboration.

The most important steps during preparatory swimming classes are adaptation to water, learning...

Vietnam enters WTO
Duong, Minh Vuong ; Gullová, Soňa (advisor) ; Laschoberová, Libuše (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on development of Vietnam from a centrally planned economy to market economy. This thesis is divided into 7 chapters and thematically into two parts. The first part describes the "Doi Moi" reform, which led to the economic success of Vietnam. Effect of economic reforms is closely linked to the entry of Vietnam into the WTO. Doi Moi has contributed to the acceleration of the economy and reducing poverty in many rural areas. The second part includes the procedure of entry of Vietnam into the WTO and the benefits and pitfalls that membership brings. Doi Moi reform and the actual entry of Vietnam into the WTO is closely linked due to changes that started the economy of the country for a long period devastated by war. Entry to the WTO for a relatively poor country like Vietnam is indeed a success. By the entry into WTO the Vietnamese government has proven the ability to meet the objectives set out from the first steps of the Doi Moi reform .
