1 "Social assistance for seniors" Abstract The rigorous thesis aims at the theme of social services and care allowance in connection to care towards specific social services clients who are the elderly. The aging of population is the very actual topic not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad. The Czech population grows. However, the growth within the group of elderly is considerable compared to others. According to the forecasts, the population will still be getting older, and that will result in a greater need for care of the elderly. The rigorous thesis consists of six parts. The first chapter deals with the aging and old age, including the ageism phenomenon, and outlines social assistance for the elderly as a part of the social security system of the Czech Republic. The second chapter aims at social services not only from the view of users (the elderly) but also of social services providers. The author has tried to analyse the potential difficulties of social work. The system of social services financing is also mentioned. The third chapter describes care allowance, eligibility for it, its control, and use. Ethical aspects of senior care

Thesis "Ethical Aspects of Senior Care" deals with the recent issue of an aging population from the point of view of psychological, health-social and value-existential changes of man. It emphasizes the importance of adhering to ethical principles in senior care and complements practical social work by a specific analysis of the most important aspects of aging. Thesis is divided into five elementary parts. The first part of the thesis describes everything related to old age, the second part deals with the care of seniors from the historical point of view to the present. The third part of the thesis deals with the needs and the related value orientation of seniors. The fourth part tries to find and explain some ethical aspects that accompany the man in senium (dignity, autonomy, ageism). The fifth and final section offers some options for solving ethical problems that can be helpful in mastering this difficult part of life.
Old age as seen through the eyes of three generations

This bachelor´s thesis is focused on the old age and ageing as seen through the eyes of three generations. The main objective of this thesis is to compare how particular people from different age groups (age of 20-30 years, 30-50 years, and 50-70 years) perceive their own old age. The thesis consists of the theoretical part and the empirical part. Theoretical part is divided into nine subchapters which deal with specific issues of the old age and associated problems. Empirical part deals with the results of the research undertaken for the purpose of this thesis. The main research question was: "In what aspects the view of old age among the generations differs most markedly? " For obtaining the necessary information, the strategy of qualitative research was chosen and performed with the using of open coding. The data were collected through the semi-structured interviews and the research sample was selected by using purpose quota selection. The research participants were people from different age groups age of 20-30 years, 30-50 years, and 50-70 years. The research sample consisted of twelve participants who were willing to participate in the research. The research was performed in two phases preliminary research and research itself. The interviews were recorded on a dictaphone and transcribed verbatim. The data were analysed with the using of categorization. Based on the research, the view of old age is most markedly different between the age groups 20-30 years and 50-70 years. The age group 30 -50 years in most cases agreed either with younger or older age group. The greatest differences of opinion among particular generations were in the questions of how retirees perceive today's young generation, in the view of need for education of retirees, further also in the opinions regarding the employment opportunity for elderly people or how society treats the elderly people. The results of this bachelor´s thesis can be used to provide insight of how people see the old age and to increase the general awareness of how to work and deal better with the elderly. This thesis can also serve as educational material for students and teachers.
The care allowance and its use for the needs of senior citizens in the Czech Republic

The master's thesis is focused on the current topic of aging population. This coincided with the growing need for care for the elderly, and this fact is reflected in the Czech legislation. Thesis is focused on care allowance and its use for the care of social services specific clientele consisting of seniors. This thesis is composed of a total of four chapters. The first chapter is mentioned the history of social legislation. In the second chapter is analyzed the phenomenon of aging and old age, including its downsides, and demographics. The third, crucial chapter of this thesis is devoted to the institute of care allowance in terms of its use by the addressees - particularly by the seniors. This chapter also mentions the conditions for entitlement to care allowance and control its use. The third chapter also contains demographic data and analysis of the purchasing power of the care allowance in relation to period of care for a dependent person. It contains analysis of care allowance use with a budget for individual days to payment care of dependent person. Last, described the shortcomings of the legislation and any attempt to outline possible solutions de lege ferenda. Discriminatory practices of recruiters in the job search process in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis aims to describe and reveal discriminatory practices faced by candidates in the labor market in the Czech Republic. Using perspective and point of view of recruiters introduces an innovative element in examining discriminatory practices. Attention is paid to particular methods of recruitment, as they vary greatly. Each of them is targeting a different group of candidates for a job. The thesis is divided into four parts. The first part is theoretical, it introduces readers to the legislative regulation and protection against discrimination in the Czech law system. It shows the human capital theory, theory of queues and signals and personalist agenda. The second section is methodological, defining data and data collection methods. Following part is devoted to research itself, it describes the identified data from interviews with communication partners, which are then interpreted in the context of the theoretical background. Research among recruiters is focused on finding the characteristics of the ideal job candidate, fairness of admission process, but also to the used discriminatory practices. Final section brings the most important findings.
Cooperations of seniors and students of elementary school in the educational area of social studies

The key topics of this project are intergenerational relationships, in the means of creating a positive approach towards ageing in elementary school kids. Regarding the fact of demographic ageing of the population, active engagement of seniors into public life and profitable usage of their experience are both a current matter. The theoretical part of this thesis discusses intergenerational relationships, defines old age as equal to other stages of life and questions various stances and values. The practical part offers guidance to the developing process of collaboration between elementary school kids and seniors, in the area of social studies. The aim of intergenerational cooperation is going to be, through conversations, shared memories and further work with them, the increase of kids' concern about modern history and enhancement of respect towards ageing, therefore prevention of ageism. Inclusion of people over 50 in the Czech Republic

World population is ageing and in Europe the situation is especially alarming. In the next two decades the ratio of people over 65 years of age is expected to double. This threatens long-term sustainability of welfare systems. The debate about future developments has been going on since the turn of the century. Based on this debate the European Union defined improving the inclusion of people over 50 as the main solution to this problem. The means to achieving this goal have been identified at the level of the labour market, disease prevention and lifelong learning. The specific instruments are: 1) increasing the participation of older workers in the labour market by increasing retirement age, introducing penalties for early retirement, promoting retraining of older and increasing retraining efficiency, 2) restructuring of pension systems and provision of social services and 3) strengthening participation of older people in society, applying the principles of active aging at all levels of social life and increasing the quality and variety of lifelong learning opportunities. Ageism between the young and the aged in the Czech Republic: Who they are and what they deslike about each other?

This paper focuses on ageism between extreme age groups of the adult population in the Czech Republic in an international comparison. It builds on the findings regarding the extent of the problem of ageism and the increasing importance of age as a social characteristic in modern societies. The objective is to enrich the traditional exploration of ageism as a problem relating to seniors with an analysis of mutual intergenerational relationships. Using the perspective of social identity theory, the relationships between young people and seniors are described as the result of the forming process of the own age and generational identities of young people and seniors and the mutual comparison and estranging of these groups. To answer the research questions regarding the methods of forming identities of the youth and age and the sources of mutual ageism, an analysis of qualitative interviews with young people and seniors and quantitative data from two international surveys (European Social Survey Round 4 and the International Social Survey Programme 2013) were used. Analyses in the empirical section show that ageism is more common in the Czech Republic than in other European country, and they also indicate the specific sources of ageism in the Czech environment.
