AIDS and polygamy in Sub-Saharan Africa
Pokorný, Jiří ; Verchuša, Kateřina (referee) ; Chytilová, Julie (advisor)
The objective of this work is to contribute to understanding the relationship between AIDS, polygamy and the economic performance of a country or of an individual by analyzing and discussing some particular questions, and by adding some new ideas to existing theories. The first part is theoretical, largely devoted to AIDS and it's influence on the economy. The second part is a microeconomic statistical analysis, which tries to find what are the characteristics of polygamous men and women, and what is the relationship between polygamy and AIDS. It shows that polygamous households are relatively more wealthy and that the men's motivation to have more wives is probably wanting to have lots of children. Then it was found that polygamy brings higher risk of being infected by AIDS, because of polygamous husbands being more often unfaithful. The conclusion is that families having the best outlook are probably those with a polygamous and faithful husband. Such families will be wealthy and will have many children.

Anotattion: Landscape in Roelant Savery's work and his significance for czech painting Roelant Savery is one of the most famous landscape painters, who came from Flanders where was experienced in Paul Bril's and above all in Brughels's work and his brother Jakob. Rudolf II. the Emperor was deeply interested in Savery's style of painting, for that reason he deceded to invite him to Prague, where he appeared in 1604 and lived there to draw and paint landscapes behind Prague usually, where found out wild nature, that influenced the theme of his works. Variability of Execution Environments for Component-based Systems
Malohlava, Michal ; Bureš, Tomáš (advisor) ; Racek, Stanislav (referee) ; Duchien, Laurence (referee)
Reuse is considered as one of the most crucial software engineering concerns. It allows for delivering software systems faster with less effort. Therefore, the thesis explores limits of reuse in the context of component systems. It analyzes in depth contemporary component systems, finds their commonalities and variation points, and introduces a meta-component system -- a software product line which allows for producing a tailored component system based on a set of requirements. The thesis addresses the meta-component system definition and focuses on its crucial aspects which play the key role in component systems preparation- (1) a configurable execution environment and (2) generation of implementation artifacts. To address the first aspect, the thesis proposes a model-driven method for creating configurable execution environments. Motivated by creating execution environments, the thesis contributes to (2) by introducing a notion of domain-specific languages interoperability in the context of the code generation. Furthermore, the thesis elaborates the proposed notion resulting into a family of interoperable domain-specific languages which is parametrized by a general purpose language.

Suffix Array for Large Alphabet
Šesták, Radovan ; Senft, Martin (referee) ; Lánský, Jan (advisor)
Burrows-Wheeler Transform (BWT) [3] is used as the major part in block compression which has good balance of speed and compression ratio. Suffix arrays are used in the coding phase of BWT and we focus on creating them for alphabet larger than 2^8 symbols. The motivation for this work has been software project XBW[4] - an application for compression of large XML files. The role of BWT is to reorder input before applying other algorithms. We describe and implement three families of algorithms for encoding. First is inspired by the work of Sadakane [10] and further improved by Larsson [8]. Second family includes algorithm by Seward [11] and algorithm by Itoh further improved by Kao [5]. Finally we present algorithm by Kärkkäinen and Sanders [6] for constructing suffix arrays in linear time.

Dokulilová, Denisa ; Šípek, Jiří (referee) ; Morgensternová, Monika (advisor)
The study presents a psychological view of studies abroad. W e investigated topics such as motivation to study abroad, adaptation and re-adaptation, self-concept changes, changes in partnership and family relations, and especially subjectively perceived changes in attitudes, value orientation and prejudices. We focus on students of the Charles University of Prague, who had been studying abroad (program Erasmus) in the academic year 2003/2004. We use qualitative methodology of research - semi structured interview and technique of unfinished sentences. Morávková, Simona ; Pokorná, Věra (advisor) ; Michalová, Zdena (referee)
Bad succes of children is one of the most common topics of pedagogical and psychological literature in all the civilizated countries. Since sixties experts hav realised that the remedy oťall kinds of defects shouldn't be orientated only on children's behaviour, but on their globál condition. This should be an importatnt turnaround. Since then vve don't use a term: "disorder", byt vve ťocus on iťs solution itselť. For example vvhat to do vvhen a pupil switches letters while vvriting, has problems with reading, or even is difficult to control, cheats, steals things. My essay could be a kong of motivation to give the children more time, trying to get to knovv them better. The most imortatnt thing is chilďs sociál situation and iťs position in group, family, school. We should also try to fing out its way of communication. Iťs neccesary to communicate with a pupil as an individual.
