European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 in Czech Republic and Germany

The aim of thesis European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012 in Czech Republic and Germany is to describe and compare the approach of these two countries to the said initiative of the European Union. The society increasingly has to deal with the effects of demographic aging, which affects not only the seniors, but also other members of the population. It affects both the economy and life in larger or smaller communities. International organizations devote a lot of attention to this issue. The European Union is not an exception. It initiates various actions in order to accomplish set targets for member countries. One of the most prominent was the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations 2012. Author focuses on the comparison of positions between the two neighboring countries, ie. mainly to set out specific objectives and measures, which would help these goals were fulfilled, all in accordance with the European Union. It reveals not only differences which may be between the Czech Republic and Germany in this regard to find, but also some common elements. Part of this work is the description of the impact of Europeanization, which has recently been talking more and more often in the context of the European integration process.
The Effectiveness of Cognitive Support for Seniors in the Context of Viewing the Old Age

The present Rigorous Thesis treats the cognitive function training and physical exercise of seniors in the context of viewing the old age. It touches upon the problematic of active ageing which is highly relevant nowadays. The theoretical part deals with current findings and results of studies mainly with regard to cognitively healthy seniors. The practical part represents a questionnaire-based analysis ascertaining how the adult population across the age spectrum evaluates selected abilities of elderly individuals and, furthermore, it represents research determining the subjectively perceived effect, both short and long-term, of combining the cognitive function exercise, also known as a memory training, and the physical exercise in cognitively healthy individuals at senior age. Concept of Age Management in Organizations in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis summarises current approaches to age management, or human resources management taking in account the age and skills of employees in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of this paper deals with the background of this concept, describes the present demographical development, its consequences in the labour field, and the problem of aging population which is visible in the need to adapt applied management strategies in organisations to this trend. There are mentioned several programmes, thoughts, and legislative measures on which the newest concepts and strategic plans in Europe and the Czech Republic are based. The empirical part of the thesis focuses on a specific level of organisations, and consists of two surveys. The first one is a comparative case study for which data were collected in two organisations which have recently implemented measures stemming from age management strategies. These measures are then specified and confronted with the statements of the employees who, in semi-structured interviews with the author, talked about the changes that were put into practice under the concept of age management, and about the discrimination of persons over 50 years of age on the labour market. This diploma thesis deals with the representation and categorisation of old age and elderly care and their changes in media discourse of daily newspaper Blesk. Theory focuses on definitions of elderly and description of seniors and practices of elderly care in the Czech Republic. It describes changes of old age discourse in connection with the development of social policy and expert knowledge. It describes the concepts of representation and categorisation and their possible impacts in the form of stigmatisation, stereotyping and ageism. It discusses media as resources of symbolic power, ideology and discourse and sets out media representation of elderly. Related empirical part is based on qualitative discourse analysis of articles from Blesk in years 2007 and 2011. It discusses the outcomes with respect to changes of discourse and representation, stereotypes and active old age. It distinguishes three types of senior representation - like normal, stigmatized and active. Thematic distribution and stigmatisation of elderly constructs symbolic subordination of elderly as a population category. Care is described only rarely and isn't offered as the solution of the elderly's frailty.
The efficiency of memory and physical training of the elderly

The thesis discusses the training of cognitive functions and physical exercise in the elderly population. It concerns the issue of active ageing, which is a very topical one. The theoretical part describes the findings and results of the latest studies mainly in seniors of good cognitive health. The practical part presents the research in how the seniors of good cognitive health respond to the combination of cognitive training, in other words memory training, and physical exercise. Comparison of quality of life of the elderly in urban and country area - example of Příbram region

The bachelor thesis is focused on quality of life of the elderly in an urban and country area. The aim of the bachelor thesis is the evaluation and comparison of quality of life of the elderly in the city of Příbram and in villages of Drásov, Dubno, Kotenčice and Obecnice. Analysis of population processes and demographic structures in chosen municipalities are one part of the thesis. Based on expertise literature the thesis provides a theoretical concept of problems of quality of life of people, quality of life of the elderly, population ageing, social status and problems of the elderly.
Labour marketopinionof seniors in the Czech Republic

The thesis is interested in labour market opinionof seniors in the Czech Republic. At first it defines the term of senior and old age. The biological and psychological changes considering with ageing are mentioned. Strength and weakness of seniors are counted. These can have an influence on economic activities of seniors. According to statistics of the Czech statistical office the actual situation and the possible development oflabour market opinion of seniors are presented. After the first theoretical part there is the second one, practical part with questionnaire. The answers from questionnaire are compared with other responses which European Union found out in its survey.
Healthy lifestyle of senior citizens and the possibility of influencing it

This thesis deals with the lifestyle of Czech senior citizens. Its goal is to identify barriers to a healthy lifestyle for seniors. It examines whether seniors live in a healthy manner and how they can best be motivated to do so. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the definition of the term "healthy lifestyle". Inasmuch as the thesis deals with seniors, it was also necessary to define the terms "senior" and "active aging". The thesis refers to current demographic developments, where the terms health support and social marketing are described. The practical portion deals with research performed on a sample of 105 Czech seniors aged 60 and over. In its conclusion, based on the barriers found, the thesis proposes a social marketing programme to improve the lifestyle of Czech senior citizens, thereby also improving their quality of life.
Spatial and economic consequences of population ageing

This bachelor thesis deals with the spatial and economic consequences of population ageing. Population ageing is a consequence of previous economic and social changes that have an impact on reproductive behavior. This thesis deals with population changes that have taken place in the 20th century and the consequences that will be felt by next generation. The thesis sets out those areas of society where population ageing is most likely and where to look for opportunities for further development. The practical part is focused on the analysis of sports, cultural and educational activities for seniors in selected districts of Prague.
Spatial and economic effects of the population ageing in the Czech Republic

The demographic ageing is an inevitable result of social and economic changes of recent decades. Although it fully affects the Czech Republic in the near future it is necessary to adopt proper precautions to minimize its risks and take the opportunities now. This bachelor thesis analyzes the causes and effects of the population ageing in the Czech Republic, examines the possible transformations of the pension system and public health care. It offers a range of measures to reduce the negative impacts of the population aging and points to the possibilities that arise in connection with this trend. In the second part the thesis focuses on the active ageing program and its implementation in the city of Prague. By using the questionnaire, it examines the supply and demand of activities for seniors. On the basis of obtained dates are built characteristics of organizers of these activities and charted their spatial distribution, legal form and economic situation.
