Lexical-semantic Conversions in the Valency Lexicon
Kettnerová, Václava ; Lopatková, Markéta (advisor) ; Panevová, Jarmila (referee) ; Karlík, Petr (referee)
In this thesis, we provide an adequate lexicographic representation of lexical-semantic conversion. Under the term lexical-semantic conversion, the relation between semantically similar syntactic structures which are based on separate lexical units of the same verb lexeme is understood. These relations are associated with various changes in valency structure of verbs - they may involve a number of valency complementations, their type, obligatoriness as well as morphemic forms. These changes arise from differences in the mapping of situational participants onto valency complementations. On the basis of semantic and syntactic analysis of two types of Czech lexical- semantic conversions, the locative conversion and the conversion Bearer of action-Location, we propose to represent lexical units creating syntactic variants in the relation of lexical semantic conversion by separate valency frames stored in the data component of the lexicon. The special attribute -conv whose value is a type of lexical-semantic conversion is assigned to relevant valency frames. Then the rule component of the lexicon consists of general rules determining changes in the correspondence between situational participants and valency complementations. This proposal is primarily designed for the valency lexicon of Czech verbs, VALLEX....

Obesity and schizophrenia: Motivation for Wellness program participation
Hynková, Tereza ; Bankovská Motlová, Lucie (advisor)
The Wellness Programme is the first psycho-educational programme for the people suffering from psychotic illnesses in the CR. Its main task is to educate these people about the healthy lifestyle, especially the healthy diet and the importance of physical exercise, and the obesity prevention. It is a group programme led by trained instructors, mostly by nurses. The recent surveys have brought positive results: the programme leads to weight loss in patients, reduces social isolation and is very popular among the patients. In the terrain questionnaire survey we have 1) mapped the physical health among the people with schizophrenia, and 2) explored their satisfaction with the programme. We studied the Wellness Programme in the CR spring 2008 participants. The file consisted of 27 questioned, 11 men and 16 women. The average age was 37 years, average BMI was 30, 9. The patients suffered from physical diseases, most often from hypertension and stomach problems. The participants appreciated most of all practical instructions and the possibility of meeting people with the same complaints. Generally, the organization suited well, the programme got the total mark 2.04 (1 best, 5 worst). While the preventive character of the programme in the obesity therapy works well, the task of weight gain prevention has to be...

Němcová, Lucie ; Kaňka, Jiří (advisor) ; Petr, Jaroslav (referee) ; Lopatářová, Miloslava (referee)
CONCLUSIONS Major resultsof this PhD thesiscan be summarizedas follows: The real-time RT-PCR has become a tool for detection and quantifrcation of RNA targetsandis being utilized in geneexpressionstudyin our laboratory. The gene expression proÍile of GDF9, during porcine oocytes, cumulus andgranulosacells fu vitro cultivation and in vivo cumulus oocyte expansion was assessed. The obtained partial sequence was up|oaded in EMBL/GenBanlďDDBJ databaseand gene was localized on pig chromosome2. Conhary to mouse,GDFS mRNA was detectedfor the ťrrsttime also in porcine somaticfollicular cells. During cultivation, thetranscriptgraduallydecreasedin all the samples. we studied signalling pathways involved in IGFI promotion of FSH-induced oocyte-cumulusexpansion.we found that IGFI in combinationwith FSH increased the production of HA. The expression of Has2 mRNA in cumulus cells gradually decreasedduring cultivation' our results suggest that the PIK3/AKT dépendent pathwayis involved in the promotionof FSH stimulatedsynthesisof HA in porcine OCCs. Bovine blastocystsdeveloped from fertilized oocýes under different in vitro or in vivo conditions were comparedin the expressionof threegenes(Bax, L37 and S3o/.The embryosdiffer in the abundanceof Bax transcripl the elevatedlevels were detected in blastocyst completely cultivated...

Private Military Companies and Security Sector Reform in Post-Conflict Countries: A Case Study of Iraq
Sladká, Jana ; Bureš, Oldřich (advisor) ; Karásek, Tomáš (referee)
A subject of this diploma thesis is a role of private military companies (PMCs) in security sector reform (SSR) in Iraq in a period from 2003 to 2011. The first chapter of the thesis focuses on goals and process of post-conflict SSR from a theoretical point of view because of an involvement of PMCs in post-conflict reconstruction which was taking place in Iraq. Part of the theoretical chapter is a SSR and steps which is the SSR process composed of. The second chapter concentrates on definitions and typologies of PMCs. This part of the thesis makes a distinction between mercenaries and private military contractors and PMCs themselves. Last but not least the second chapter encompasses discussion about a role of PMCs in a process of SSR in post-conflict countries. The third chapter is dedicated to a historical development of cooperation between PMCs and the US; it analyses roots of the US dependence on services provided by PMCs. A case study of Iraq elaborates on a role of PMCs in a process of Iraqi security reform. Aim of this chapter is to define advantages and disadvantages of usage of services provided by PMCs. By taking into account disadvantages employment of PMCs represents, steps that could help to avoid those in the future are suggested.

Case Study: Day-Care Center and Childern Culture
Saladygová, Magda ; Abu Ghosh, Yasar (advisor) ; Ezzeddine, Petra (referee)
This case study based on a fieldwork carried out in a Day-Care Center tries to describe the process of the transition from mothering to wider society which is represented by a classroom of preschool children. Within this process we can note and describe specific ways of parent's, teacher's and especially children's actions. These activities are repeatedly produced. The point of departure is the Hirschfeld's article "Why Don't Anthropologists like Children?" (Hirschfeld, 2002) and his affirmation that children are active participants within process of accepting of social regulations and values and that they create their own culture, "children culture". This study ilustrates that the process of the transition from mothering to wider society is in the first place the process of the separation of child and mother. Within this process we note the function of the "object transitional" that compensate the absence of mother. And we can also observe how the group of pupils is formed and how their group identity is created. This group is situated in a specific place and time. And we observe that all individual actions concerning child are "embodied"- it's because we talk about an "experience that involve the whole person, including the body" (Abu-Lughold, Lutz, 1990 cit. in Ben-Ari, 1998: 138).

Unlike some methods are focused on non-financial measures, when their connection with financial indicators leads to more efficient management of business performance. Dynamic BSC is one of the modifications of the BSC method, which uses elements of system dynamics and system thinking, for its optimization. One of the elements that are used in conjunction with this method, the strategy maps, which is used to visualize the interdependence of goals and metrics between basic BSC perspectives (financial , customer , internal processes , learning and growth). Balanced Scorecard and strategy maps can also serve as a tool for communicating critical information in enterprise-wide breadth. This use allows employees at lower levels of management to be informed about the objectives of the company, and their specific involvement to achieve them (their contribution to strategic , tactical and operational objectives ). The contribution of the thesis is the exploration and subsequent evaluation , which is the awareness and use of methods Balanced Scorecard and strategy maps to support communication and awareness in enterprises.

Myšková, Lucie ; Trpišovská, Dobromila (referee) ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor)
The thesis concerns various screening procedures applied on pre-school children with regard to their readiness to the school-entry. The chapters with theoretical basis mainly examine children's abilities and skills, like reading and writing, which are thought an essential for the sake of further education. A particular attention is paid to present diagnostic and screening methods, which are aimed at mapping readiness of children for the school-entry. A method that can be in particular useful in pre-school children screening procedures is a newly created Test of school readiness. The test can be used for stopping insufficiently prepared children from entering the school. Moreover, the test is also aiding in finding a suitable way to prepare children for school; and appropriate interventions can be made upon the test results. The actual task was to consider recently prepared method with regard to its applicability and usefulness. It has been compared in the form of sub-tests to previously mentioned Test of school readiness, Orientation test of school maturity (Jirásek, 1970), Compare scheme of school ability (Kondáš, 1984). It has been confirmed that the test could be appropriately used as a screening method. However, it is necessary to adjust both subtests and several tasks within the test and further...
