B- and T- lymphocyte subpopulations in lymphocyte-associated immunodeficiencies
Šinkorová, Vendula ; Kalina, Tomáš (advisor) ; Javorková, Eliška (referee)
The antigen-specific immunity consists of cells called T and B lymphocytes. These cells together with cells of non-specific (innate) immunity begin their development in fetal liver and later in bone marrow from the common progenitor, the hematopoietic stem cell. Both B and T lymphocyte lineages then undergo differentiation which is regulated by many cytokines and transcriptional factors and leads to very heterogeneous cohort of subsets. Because the immune system is not only protecting the organism from infections and malignant growth but also from itself, lymphocyte differentiation must pass many checkpoints where B and T clones are strictly selected. Cells of both lineages closely communicate with each other and also with cells of innate immunity. If, due to mutation of protein encoding genes, disturbance of differentiation or malfunction of effector activities providing some of these functions occurs, an immune system malfunction called immunodeficiency arises. Multiparametric immunophenotyping followed by flow cytometry examination has been proven one of the most suitable techniques for studying lymphocyte subsets and lymphocyte- associated immunodeficiencies. Here we describe examples of primary lymphocyte- associated immunodeficiencies, how they affect individual lymphocyte subsets, what it...

Merleau-Ponty and the beginings
Urbanová, Kateřina ; Janoušek, Jaromír (referee) ; Šulová, Lenka (advisor)
This work whishes to open phenomenological paradigm in child psychology. It is inspired by the philosophy of Maurice Merleau-Ponty. It, at first, foreshadows his thinking, which is not very extended in czech psychology. So, it discusses the relationship between psychology and phenomenology too. Then it tends to put down how it is possible to understand some aspects of infant perception. The pivotal part of the work is a consideration about the nature of the "beginings" of our life and about how their conception influences developmental psychology at all. We try to find out what gives a fashion and direction to the development of man. Hier, it takes advantage also from others fenomenological authors. The result of this work is summary of the phenomenological view on child and it's development. It suggestes non-privative conception of child and it's world. It couldn't be uderstanded only as an imperfect wolrd of adults. We show, that the task of the other people is rather "to introduce" a child to the world.

Hannah Arendt's concept of thought and action
Štech, Daniel ; Němec, Václav (referee) ; Kouba, Pavel (advisor)
The present thesis follows the distinction made by Hannah Arendt between the life of the mind and vita activa. In her earlier writings, Arendt presents acting in concert as a supreme human possibility. The devaluation of active life in the Western tradition is seen as related to the subordination of the experience of action to the experience of thought, which presupposes a turning away from the world of phenomena and plurality. With respect to the ability to act, Arendt understands thought as marginal or even detrimental. On this note, she contrasts thought with opinion, a specifically political attitude bound to the experience of action and plurality. Following the process with Eichmann, however, this image saw a revision. With the collapse of the public sphere, the dependence of the ability to tell right from wrong on the activity of thought became more prominent. Subsequent considerations therefore shift to the sphere of the mind. In the light of the corpus of Arendt's works, the present thesis enquires into the nature of mental acts required for adequate action. The first part presents political thought within the situation of plurality. The second part takes into account the collapse of the public sphere and deals with the uneasy relationship between thought and the ability to relate to the common...
