Animal models of psychosis - the assessment of EEG and the levels of monoamines in the CNS of the rat
Lipski, Michaela ; Horáček, Jiří (advisor) ; Šulcová, Alexandra (referee) ; Mareš, Jan (referee)
The present work describes animal models of psychosis with the aim on monoamine levels and behavioral/EEG findings. The general part is focused on reporting biochemical and EEG findings in patients with schizophrenia, followed by animal models of schizophrenia and their EEG findings. In the special part, results of behavioral and EEG parameters in three animal models of psychosis are presented. A study by Palenicek et al, 2013 described serotoninergic animal model and showed that 4-bromo-2,5-dimetoxyfenyletylaminu (2C-B) induced deficit in prepulse inhibition of startle reaction and produced dose related biphasic changes in the locomotion (i.e. hypolocomotion was followed by the hyperlocomotion). Low doses of 2C-B decreased EEG power and coherence, while high doses had a temporary biphasic effect with an initial decline followed by an increase in power - a similar effect was also observed in the coherence. In microdialysis study, increased levels of dopamine and its metabolites homovanilic acid and 3-methoxytyramine and decreased levels of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylacetic acid in the nucleus accumbens are described. The increase in the EEG power and coherence after the 2C-B application was associated with an increase in locomotion and congruently with elevated dopamine levels in the nucleus accumbens....

The finance minister Kalfus and his four colleagues - cabinet members in the days of the Nazi occupation of the Czech Lands - were committed for trial about a year after the end of the Second World War. It was one of the biggest political legal proces ses in Czech history. The trial began on April 29th , 1946 and the sentence was pas sed on the last day of July In 1946. Even though the court was under considerable political pressure (especially the communists were exerting pressure on senate), in the end nobody was sentenced to death. The Minister of Agriculture Adolf Hrubý was condemned to life imprisonment; the Minister of Justice Jaroslav Krejčí was given a 25-year sentence, the Minister of the lnterior Richard Bienert 3-year sentence, the Transport Minister Jindřich Kamenický 5-year sentence. The former minister Josef Kalfus was found guilty, however he was absolved from punishment. Influence of family environment and its impact on the school success

Sperm acrosomal reactien in selected species of mammals
Frolíková, Michaela ; Stopka, Pavel (advisor) ; Jonáková, Věra (referee) ; Petr, Jaroslav (referee)
Mammalian sperm must undergo the process of capacitation - series of physiological and biochemical modifications prior fertilization. In last stage of capacitation sperm undergoes acrosome reaction (AR). During AR the cell membrane of the sperm fuses with the outer acrosomal membrane and the contents of acrosomal vesicle are released into extracellular space. Sperm which did not undergo AR or sperm missing acrosome at all are unable to fertilize. AR results into dramatical changes in the sperm head. Most of the proteins present in plasmatic and outer acrosomal membrane are reorganized or lost. There are also significant changes in cytoskeletal and intraacrosomal proteins are released to extracellular space uncovering new surface domains. Some sperms undergo AR even without presence of inductor of AR during capacitation in vitro. This event is called spontaneous (accelerated) AR. The latest research indicates that spontaneous AR is natural part of the process of fertilization. Field mice (Apodemus) show high level of promiscuity leading to significant risk of sperm competition. Unique reproduction strategy where the sperms form so-called sperm trains was evolved in field mice. Spontaneous AR is probably enabling the dissociation of sperms from the sperm train. The spontaneous AR rate is dependent on...

Voluntary and involuntary childlessness: From relatively high birth-rate to absence of children
Hrabánková, Anežka ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Pašková, Miroslava (referee)
The aim of presented bachelor work is the problem of progressive reduction of the birth rate from its beginning up to present , when the phenomenon of childlessness is occurred relatively frequently. Intended childlessness begins to be the rightful alternative of living or reproductive strategy. At the same time the number of couples unable to deliver baby from the biological causes continues to increase. These facts weakens the position of parenthood. Subsequently the parenthood is not viewed by the society as a natural and self-evident phenomenon as it was formerly. My work also deals with the phenomenon of voluntary and involuntary childlessness, their extent in the Czech society is evaluated. The view of the society and the childless people themselves concerning this problem is also mentioned.

Wireless sensor network
Šťáva, Radek ; Šteffan, Pavel (referee) ; Pavlík, Michal (advisor)
The main theme of this work is to design and make a modern network of wireless sensors, when the main used circuit in the sensor module and the receiver module is microcontroller Texas Instruments CC430F513x. Care is taken primarily at very low power of sensor module for long battery life when on battery power. It is also emphasis is on reliability involvement of miniature size, expandability and high precision modules of basic sensors.
