The aspects of bilingualism in the literary works of Ahdaf Soueif
Šindelářová, Alena ; Oliverius, Jaroslav (referee) ; Ondráš, František (advisor)
The central focus of this work is the aspects of bilingualism in the writings of the Egyptian writer Ahdaf Soueif. Bilingualism is a very broad topic and encompasses a large scale of cultural and linguistic connotations. The combination of my two majors, English and Arabic studies, has enticed my interest in exploring bilingual features in the literary works created by authors in a language different from their mother tongue. Moreover during my university studies I have sought to interconnect my two majors. I have built up a strong relationship to both of them and I wished to make use of the acquired knowledge in a thesis which would comprise both languages, English and Arabic, and their cultures. While studying English literature I have come across authors of predominantly AngloSaxon origin, which means representatives of literary and cultural life using their mother tongue for their writing. However my Arabic major has opened a new perspective to me. Just like in the case of the British and American literatures I have got to know Arab writers producing their literary works in their mother tongue, the Arabic language, but I have also discovered the realm of authors of Arab origin writing in English. The phenomenon of non-British or non-American authors whose literary medium is English has appeared...

Support of bachelor and master thesis couching
Winkler, Jakub ; Pavlíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Bartoš, Jan (referee)
Today, procedure of creating bachelor and master thesis suffers from many problems. Amongst them the main issue would consist of absence of central storage ability connected to creating and couching the thesis. In practice that would mean information about records from consultation, comments to thesis etc. are to be lost and neither student, nor his thesis couch can take a look to the history of thesis progress. Furthermore, there is a lack of date registration for consultations and deadlines of handing out thesis. As a consequence, both efficiency and quality of final thesis are decreased by such poor management. As a solution, support of whole thesis procedure with software tool is suggested. There are many options of such software solutions, however only one is the most suitable and that is exactly what this thesis is trying to find. Thesis formulates requirements for such software application, after the analysis of current situation and identification of core issues. Application should bring improvement of the situation and at the same time should be users, operational and financially acceptable. From wide spectrum of available solutions, only those which had fulfilled basic conditions were chosen. Basic conditions such as: users interface in Czech language, saving documents availability and large capacity of users accounts. Final group of potential solutions was put through detail analysis for support utility for thesis couching. This analysis finally shows the most suitable solution. This bachelor thesis brings analysis of utility for commonly available web application or hosted applications for bachelor and diploma thesis couching. The implementation could be done quickly without further problems, thanks to the undemanding IT and financial requirements of software application. After finding the most suitable solution, this thesis shows how large scale of efficiency Microsoft SharePoint Services 3.0 brings. Furthermore, at the end of this thesis, many more options for using this application are shown.

Commands and comments: tha language of "The nine chapters on the mathematical art" and its commentaries
Hudeček, Jiří ; Maršálek, Jakub (referee) ; Sehnal, David (advisor)
Předmětem této práce je jazyk klasické čínské matematiky, konkrétně jejího stěžejního anonymního díla "Matematika v Devíti kapitolách" a dvou nejdůležitějších komentářů k němu.

Application of lexical strategies in learning German as L3
LAŠTOVKA, Ondřej
The diploma thesis ?Application of lexical strategies in learning German language as a second language? deals with the processes of acquiring vocabulary and lexical strategies, which pupils should use while learning German as a further foreign language after English. The theoretical part focuses on the description of semantization and the characteristics of lexical strategies in terms of tertiary language. On the basis of tertiary didactics are presented and analyzed criteria for vocabulary selection. In the practical part two sets of textbooks used at Czech schools were analyzed. ?Spaß mit Max 1? and ?Planet 1 - Deutsch für Jugendliche? were analyzed in terms of vocabulary selection, its presentation and practice, and explicit presented lexical strategies. Finally, there were elaborated such methods which helps pupils at lower secondary schools to acquire vocabulary in German on the basis of their knowledge and skills acquired by learning English.

Cabalka, Martin ; Chlapek, Dušan (advisor) ; Kučera, Jan (referee)
This master thesis is concerned with the choice of suitable data quality dimensions for a particular database of economy information and proposes and implements metrics for its assessment. The aim of this paper is to define the term data quality in the context of economy information database and possible ways to measure it. Based on dimensions suitable to observe, a list of metrics was created and subsequently implemented in SQL query language, alternatively in a procedural extension Transact SQL. These metrics were also tested with the use of real data and the results were provided with a commentary. The main asset of this work is its complex processing of the data quality topic, from theoretical term definition to particular implementation of individual metrics. Finally, this study offers a variety of both theoretical and practical directions fort this issue to be further researched.
