Homeschooling
Pumrová, Noemi ; Tomková, Anna (advisor) ; Kargerová, Jana (referee)
The goal of the thesis is to specify the position of homeschooling in the Czech Republic and to discuss its effectiveness in the fulfilment of the common educational aims. For this reason, the theoretical part is firstly dealing with the common educational aims, and their official formulation in the Czech Republic. The thesis then continues to focus on homeschooling and its capabilities in fulfilling these aims, in which these areas are crucial: the family as an environment where learning takes place, current legislation, individualization, socialisation, and the change from home-schooling to regular schooling. The afore mentioned area is discussed in more detail in the research part of the thesis, where we find the statements of the graduates of homeschooling which were gained through a questionnaire. As a whole the thesis offers an unconventional point of view on education and provides specific tips for parents, pupils and teachers. Homeschooling - Primary Education of Children at Home
Procházková, Romana ; Komárková, Tereza (advisor) ; Tvrzová, Ivana (referee)
The topic of this thesis is home schooling of children on the first level of basic school in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of my thesis is dealing with the history, development and individual spheres of home schooling and I have tried to summarize here the opinions of both the supporters and opponents of home schooling by focusing on the following issues: the reasons for entering home schooling, socialization of a child in home schooling and its efficiency. In the practical part I identified the reasons why individual families enter home schooling based on structured interviews with five different families. Then I gathered information about how demanding the preparation for home schooling is as well as home schooling itself, including the negative aspects of home schooling. I have learned that the answers of the respondents are quite similar, I have not found any significant differences. Most opinions of the supporters of home schooling mentioned in the theoretical part have also been confirmed by the experience of the parents. This thesis should bring both basic information and personal experience of families mainly to parents who are considering home schooling.

At first the theoretical part gives the definition of basic and advanced terms and subsequently the approach of the topic including legislative measures and implementation of homeschooling in the Czech Republic and also in other European and non-European countries. Consequently, analyzes the potential pitfalls of individualized education. The practical part is focused on the specific experience of people who are involved in the homeschooling. This part is processed through interviews with graduates of this form of education, their parents and through communication with the school. The aim of this work is to explain the issue, the motives that lead parents to choose this form of education and to critically analyse all the negatives associated with homeschooling.
Homeschooling as Alternative
KUBECOVÁ, Markéta
The aim of this Bachelor´s dissertation is to discover the motivation and the reasons why parents decide for homeschooling, to get to the heart of the issue, and to provide information on homeschooling as an alternative of compulsory education to preschool teachers. What are the pros and cons of homeschooling from the point of view of the parents teachers, preschool and school teachers and the art school teachers who have had any kind of experience with homeschooling? What types of parents decide for homeschooling? What types of children is homechooling suitable and eligible for? What difficulties can homeschooling bring about and face? Are there any problems with the secondary socialization of homeschooled children? What is the hindsight attitude of homeschooled children to their homeschooling? As preschool teachers we should be able to provide parents with sufficient and satisfactory information on this more and more popular alternative. The following survey consists of three parts: the first, quantitative section, shows a questionnaire. In the second, qualitative section, the method of a narrative interview is used with the target research group being children who have undergone the homeschooling process. The third section again qualitative, uses the method of a narrative interview with the preschool and school teachers who have had a personal experience with homeschooled children, and with the teachers of primary schools who have examined the homeschooled children. The research shows that the motivation of the parents who have decided to teach their children at home is the desire to devote themselves to their children, to provide their children with a secure, friendly and peaceful environment and to show them unconditional love. Parents assumed responsibility for the education of their children. More than half of the homeschooled children attended kindergartens. The kindergarten teachers who had these children in their classes, had the same approach to them as to the other children and testify that the cooperation and communication with unselfish parents was outstanding. As positives of homeschooling have come out individual approach, family environment free of stress, and flexibility. Negatives of homeschooling are few; parents experience it as demanding and exacting and complain of the absence of financial support. Homeschooling is designed for all children (not only for the handicapped or the gifted) whose parents have decided and are willing to enable their children to do it. Socialization of the homeschooled children has taken place without problems. All those children have pleasant memories of their years at homeschooling.
