Identity of volhynian Czechs settled in Czech Republic and nonreemigrated volhynian Czechs in Ukraine
Jirka, Luděk ; Kandert, Josef (advisor) ; Uherek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Moravcová, Mirjam (referee)
This work deals with transnational ties of reemigrated Volhynian Czechs and ethnic return migration of descendants of non-reemigrated Volhynian Czechs. Dissertation was founded on fieldwork in West Ukraine and in the Czech Republic. Researches of reemigrated Volhynian Czechs were studied in terms of integration or adaptation into the Czech (Czechoslovak) society, but this work, in first part, critically shows immigration narrative of Czech (Czechoslovak) social sciences; there were also transnational ties to Ukraine to which reemigrated Volhynian Czech refers as a meaningful. Next part of this work deals with ethnic return migration of descendants of non-reemigrated Volhynian Czechs. Descendants of compatriots have with Ukrainian ethnic consciousness, but Czech state allows them short-term and long-term stays in the Czech Republic thanks to ancestors, so that they are attracted with Czech surroundings, express wishes to migrate into the Czech Republic and they even could obtain permanent residency more easily due to Czech ancestors. Czech state facilitates migration flow from West Ukraine to the Czech Republic according to presume "closeness" of descendants of compatriots to Czech nation. Common reference of Czech social sciences and Czech state is nationalism which products social reality....

Changes in the composition and localization of gangliosides in cholestasis associated with other markers of pathological processes in hepatocytes.
Petr, Tomáš ; Muchová, Lucie (advisor) ; Mičuda, Stanislav (referee) ; Befekadu, Asfaw (referee)
This thesis is focused on the study of glycosphingolipids in the rat liver in different types of cholestasis and the effect of oxidative stress on changes in the composition and localization of gangliosides. First, it was necessary to optimize the immunochemical detection of glycosphingolipids. GM1 ganglioside was selected as a representative of a large glycolipid family. We found that minimum water content in the fixing solution was a key condition for fixation of histological sections. Optimized method of GM1 detection was subsequently used in in vivo experiments. We have demonstrated that estrogen-induced cholestasis characterized by high concentrations of bile acids and increased oxidative stress caused changes in the synthesis and distribution of liver gangliosides. HMOX induction is associated with a reduction in oxidative stress level and accompanied by normalization in GSL content. In experiments with obstructive cholestasis, we found that changes in the distribution and synthesis of gangliosides were not strictly specific to a particular type of cholestasis. We assume that it represents a general mechanism of hepatoprotection. We also confirmed the important role of bilirubin, product of HMOX reaction, in protection of hepatocytes against oxidative damage caused by high concentrations of...

Women in the role of companies
Fritscherová, Julie ; Hubinková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kaštovská, Lenka (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the current situation of women in managerial positions in relation to the obstacles that hinder their career progression, as well as naming the features and capabilities that they prefer, and to characterize the possible existence of female leadership style. The theoretical part focuses on the role of women in society, concepts related to gender issues and the difference between management and leadership. I also deal with selected models describing the approach of managers to their subordinates. In the practical part based on qualitative research methods, I find out what opinion managers have to that situation in the Czech Republic. In conclusion, the thesis provides recommendations for a more detailed investigation of the area.

Macro-finance modeling of yield curve - Czech analysis
Škop, Jiří ; Mandel, Martin (advisor) ; Kodera, Jan (referee) ; Komárek, Luboš (referee)
This doctoral thesis devotes itself to macro-finance models of the Czech yield curve that enable the modeling of the yield curve as a whole and belong to the group of multi-factors models. These factors are unobservable or latent variables, and are intuitively called level, slope and curvature. Macro-finance models not only fit the yield curve through the use of latent factors, but they also try to provide a macroeconomic interpretation. The macro part of the model uses a type of VAR model, where the macroeconomic variables are endogenous or exogenous, or some macroeconomic model based on e.g. a New Keynesian economy. Such a type of models can answer (1) how the macroeconomic variables affect the yield curve, and, on the other hand, (2) how these macroeconomic variables are affected by the yield curve. The EUR/CZK exchange rate and the external environment play an important role in the Czech small open economy (in particular, developments in the eurozone and the impact of global investors' sentiment toward risky assets). Thus, we should take this into consideration when applying to Czech data. It has been shown that temporary macroeconomic and financial shocks (to inflation, output gap, EUR/CZK exchange rate, external demand, etc.) strongly affect the short end of the yield curve; however, longer spot rates react only marginally. The longer end of the curve may move more significantly in the case of a longer duration of the above-mentioned shocks (thus affecting inflationary expectations) or in the case of shocks to the inflation target and real equilibrium interest rates.

Fathers on parental leave in the Czech Republic
Franková, Tereza ; Slaboch, Martin (advisor) ; Tereza, Tereza (referee)
Presented thesis is about fathers on parental leave in the Czech republic. Althought the men can take a parental leave since 2001, they are still the phenomenon in the society. The women are the dominant in parental leave, so there prevails the tradition division of roles. The aim of my thesis is to answer the question: How does the modern exchange of parenting roles influate the family functioning? In the theoretical part there is introduced the parental and maternity leave from the point of view in the past, legislation and the possibility taking the maternity and parental leave. The thesis is focused on parental, maternity and paternity leave from the point of view of eight european countries and states certain recommendation for Czech republic. Also describes the family functioning, parental role, gender role and stereotypes. The next part of thesis is focused on history of paternity, relationship between the father and child, and paternity parenting styles. The practical part contains ten interviews which research the experience and opinions of men on the parental leave. There are as well opinions from the wives/partners, who exchanged the roles with their male partners. Using the questionnaire survey, which was filled in by 238 respondents, there was researched what attitude does the Czech society have to the topic and generally to the position of men on parental leave.

On Purinoceptors in the Rat Urinary Bladder
Veselá, Renata ; Wsól, Vladimír (advisor) ; Študent, Vladimír (referee) ; Broďák, Miloš (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate Mgr. Renata Veselá Supervisor Prof. Ing. Vladimír Wsól, Ph.D. Title of Doctoral Thesis On Purinoceptors in the Rat Urinary Bladder Both divisions of autonomic nervous system regulate the urinary bladder function. In addition to the classical autonomic neurotransmitters, noradrenaline and acetylcholine, other autonomic transmitters and signalling molecules play important roles in the physiology and pathophysiology of the lower urinary tract. Interstitial cystitis (IC) is a chronic inflammation of the bladder of non-infectious origin and unclear etiology and pathophysiology, characterized by urinary frequency, urgency and sharp pelvic pain that fade away while urinating. Non-adrenergic, non-cholinergic (NANC) systems influence functional responses in the inflamed bladder. The aim of this study was to investigate purinergic and nitrergic mechanisms involved in the IC pathogeneses and in urodynamic dysfunction. Methods: A single dose of i.p. injection of cyclophosphamide caused CYP-induced cystitis; a condition very similar to IC and for that property was used as a model of the inflamed bladder throughout our experiments. The organ bath set was employed in investigation of functional...

Modern types of derivates and their reflection in positive law
Laga, Vojtěch ; Kotáb, Petr (advisor) ; Kohajda, Michael (referee)
Abstract/ Modern Types of Derivatives and its Reflection in the Positive Law The purpose of my thesis is to provide an introduction to modern types of derivatives and analyze its regulation in the positive law of the Czech Republic. The reason for my research is an absence of literature on modern types of derivatives in the Czech language, as well as the fact that the legal nature of derivatives remains still unclear. The thesis is composed of four chapters. Chapter One provides an introduction into derivatives in general. It deals with the notion of derivatives and classifies them as an innovative instrument of the capital market. It also tries to analyze various definitions of derivatives, and although it concludes that there is no ideal, all-encompassing definition of derivatives, existing definitions usually give fairly good idea about what the derivatives are. Chapter One further deals with the regulation of derivatives in the Czech law (importantly, its tries to rebut an opinion that derivatives fall under the regulation of hazardous activities), it focuses on economic function of derivatives (namely hedging and speculation), it explains and justifies the division of derivatives into "classic" and "modern" or "exotic" derivatives, and finally it describes the main types of classic derivatives and its...

Illustration in the works of Petr Nikl, Martin Velíšek and František Skála Jr.
Vostrá, Lucie ; Klimešová, Marie (referee) ; Lahoda, Vojtěch (advisor)
Petr Nikl and Martin Velfsek began to illustrate books as Frantisek Skala Jr. did during the eighties or nineties of the 20 th century. But the illustration itself made and still makes only a small (but meaningful) part among their extensive artistic activities. However, their generally nonconformal relation to arts brings into whole illustration new and surprising conceptions and breaks standard and classical models of treatment of literary works. The character of artistic realizations is very intimate, inly reserved and painterly in the case of Petr Nikl, which is distinctly confirmed by his illustrations of world-famous melancholy fairy tales by Oscar Wilde. Also VeHsek's conception of the classical Czech novel Babicka, which was written by Bozena Nemcova, represents, for its expressivity and combination of modem contemporary elements with quite different prinCiples of the text, the extraordinary individual experiment. Alhough Skala illustrates some books in absolutely classical style, he is able to react excellently and sensibly on contents of the books, thanks to the change of his drawing. He has used an interesting combination of photography with text and Velfsek has illustrated with subtle humour several delightful books. Especially in the illustrations, which are related to their own text, there is...

Inteligent Controller of Active Magnetic Bearing
Turek, Milan ; Čech, Vladimír (referee) ; Ondrůšek, Čestmír (referee) ; Březina, Tomáš (advisor)
The PhD thesis describes control design of active magnetic bearing. Active magnetic bearing is nonlinear unstable system. This means it is not possible to use classic methods of control design for linear time invariant systems. Also methods of nonlinear control design are not universal and theirs application is not easy task. The thesis describes usage of simple nonlinear compensation which linearizes response of active magnetic bearing and allows usage of classic methods of control design for linear time invariant systems. It is shown that CARLA method can significantly improve parameters of designed controller. First part of thesis describes derivation of model of controlled active magnetic bearing and nonlinear compensation which linearizes response of controlled active magnetic bearing on input signal. Following part contains description of methods of state control design methods, selected methods of robust control design and most common methods of artificial intelligence used for control design and implementation. Next part describes hardware of used experimental device and its parameters. It also contains experimental derivation of model of electromagnetic force because the parameters are not available from manufacturer. Last part describes control design of active magnetic bearing. Several different approaches are described here. The approaches vary from completely experimental approach, through using Ziegler-Nichols method, state control design to methods for robust control design. During design is heavily used CARLA method which is very suitable for usage for online learning in real controller due its principle.
