Energy security of the CR and EU in context of the foreign relations with Russia
Antonova, Oksana ; Abrhám, Josef (advisor) ; Jeníček, Vladimír (referee)
This diploma thesis dissertates about energy security of the European Union and the Czech Republic in the context of the foreign relations with Russia. It is focused on Russia as the biggest supplier of energy resources to the fore mentioned regions. Energy dependence of EU and the Czech Republic on Russia exceeds 50 %. This dependency is inevitable and is caused by the insufficiency of EU's and Czech Republic's own resources and above all it is very dangerous because of Russia's frequent nondemocratic behavior. The gap in demand of energy resources cannot be covered even by alternative energy recourses, which are in this thesis divided into renewable recourses and nuclear energy.

Figure of Josef Švejk
Krabsová, Veronika ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee) ; Peterka, Josef (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the main character of an unfinished four-part novel by Jaroslav Hašek, The Fateful Adventures of the Good Soldier Švejk During the World War. The protagonist of this work, Josef Švejk, is one of the most discussed issues in Czech literature. His character has stirred emotions since as early as the 1920's. The chapter "Classification of Interpretations" maps changes in Czech expert literary opinion regarding Josef Švejk (Švejk as a Sancho-Panza type, Švejk as a fairytale personality, Švejk as a storyteller and humorist, etc.). The longest part of the thesis is dedicated to the characteristics of the ambivalent hero: a physical characterization (it is interesting that Josef Švejk was never described in detail in the book; we mostly draw on illustrations by Josef Lada), a psychological characterization (readers have some misgivings about Josef Švejk; they don't know whether the figure is an idiot or a clever fellow) and a language (linguistic communication, diction and anecdotes describe Josef Švejk in large measure). This text also includes information about the genesis of protagonist Josef Švejk: The Good Soldier Švejk and Other Strange Stories - Josef Švejk before the World War; The Good Soldier Švejk in Captivity - Josef Švejk written during the War; The Fateful Adventures...

Early medieval fortified settlement in Praha - Butovice

So called forest industries (or crafts) and craftsmen are depicted from the point of view of technology used, its economic, social as well as cultural characteristics. The thesis is focused on the territory of the Central Europe in the 17-18th centuries and is based on archival research and study of foreign theoretical scientific literature. The author came to a conclusion, that the forest industries (e.g. charcoal making, tar making, resin extraction, wood ashes making and potash making) constitute a specific kind of linked strategies of subsistence. Moreover through forest industries natural resources (forests and woodlands) were exploited and their shape and stand was changed. The most important part of thesis - also from the gnoseological point of view - is presentation of the outcomes of several ethno-archaeological experiments, which contributed essentially to the re-interpretation of written sources.
