Selected Aspects of the Active Aging among Students of the University of the Third Age

This bachelor thesis deals with selected aspects of the concept of active aging in the context of education at the University of the Third Age. The thesis is divided into two parts - the first part consists of four chapters and presents basic thematic units (age and aging, theoretical concepts concerning age and aging, active aging) using domestic and foreign literature. The work defines the concepts of age, aging and older adult, summarizes related demographic contexts, and presents the Universities of the Third Age and their role in education of older adults. It also presents the concept of active aging and its development and three other concepts related to active aging (healthy, successful and productive aging) using mainly foreign sources. The concept of active aging is then brought closer to the point of view of several international organizations and, consequently, its key aspects are outlined. The second part of the thesis contains quantitative survey among students of the University of the Third Age and focuses on previously defined aspects, especially on participation in the labour market, participation in physical activities, participation in volunteering and other possibilities of active leisure time in old age. Participation of the Elderly in Education in the Context of Demographic Aging

This bachelor thesis is focused on participation of the elderly in the context of demographical ageing. The area of interest is introduced in the first part - ageing and old age, elderly education, demographical ageing, functions and significances of elderly education and educational institutions. This part is based on Czech and foreign professional literature and documents. The second part contains data concerning participation of the elderly in educational activities and an empirical survey. The survey deals with the participation of the elderly in educational activities. Also barriers, motivation and opinions of the elderly about the offer of educational activities were researched. Czech public libraries as an institution of lifelong learning with a focus on seniors

(in English): This thesis is dedicated to projects of lifelong learning in Czech public libraries. Its aim is to examine to what extent Czech public libraries are devoted to lifelong learning, especially retiree education, and further, to analyze specific educational projects. Considering the demographic development of the Czech population, there is highlighted the importance and the significance of organizing such programs in the libraries. The first part of the thesis presents theoretical basis and explains terms such as lifelong learning and education, learning society, and formal, non-formal, and informal education. Another part of the thesis deals with gerontopedagogy and old age pensioners. Specific forms of adult education are also presented here. In the practical part, there is an analysis of educational projects of libraries and the questionnaires of the participants are evaluated.
Older Adults Excoursion Tour as a Specific Form of Education

This bachelor thesis focuses on the (sightseeing) tour for older adults as the specific form of education. The thesis is divided into five chapters. In the introductory chapter the main theme of this thesis is set into the context of demographical ageing and silver economy. Following two chapters focus on the specifics of older adults that are important for participation on tour for older adults. Simultaneously these chapters are focused on educational aspect to subsume the sightseeing tour into forms of adult education. Another part presents the specifics of the sightseeing tour for older adults in accordance with senior tourism. It is followed by analysis of the tour for older adults which are offered by travel agencies in the Czech Republic, which verifies a validity of theoretical knowledge about specifics of older adults presented in previous chapters. Comparison of institutionalization of senior education between the Czech Republic and Kingdom of Spain

This bachelor's thesis focuses on comparison of institutionalization of elderly education in the Czech Republic and in Spain, especially on comparison of institution of the University of the Third Age in the both countries. The work is divided into five chapters. Introductory part of the thesis is devoted to theoretical bases of education of elderly people and the importance of education of older adults for the society and an individual himself, based on prognosis of trends in demographical situation in Europe. The main part of the thesis is focused on institutionalization of elderly education and there are introduced the most important forms of elderly education in the Czech Republic and in Spain. This part further results in the comparison of institution of the University of the Third Age in the both countries according to six elected criteria. The aim of the thesis is to find out if the institution of the University of the Third Age in Spain is based on the similar model as the institution of the University of the Third Age in the Czech Republic. Education as an instrument for improving the quality of life of elders in the context of social care

- 5 - SUMMARY This thesis is dedicated to the assessment of the current state of education and care for the elderly, and outlines ways to improve care through education and, ultimately, to achieve life satisfaction of seniors. The thesis is written in the form of a comparison of scholarly sources dealing with the education and care of the elderly, and the current legislation of the Czech Republic. The thesis also includes an empirical study which draws on a quantitative questionnaire survey in a selected nursing home. This investigation aims at further education of the elderly and its effect on life satisfaction of population in this age group. Seniors education on the example of theproject Third Age

This thesis presents senior education. Due to the increasing number of older people in our society, senior education has become important way how to keep them in an active lifestyle. The beginning of this thesis is devoted to the theoretical bases of senior education. There are explained terms like aging, old age, senior and introduced fundamental involution changes that relate to senior. The main part of this work is focused on the project Third Age, which has been implemented in the City Library in Louny. The implementation of the project joined in the region several hundred people and because of it the project became the largest such project in the district of Louny. The project is a successful example of good practice addressing seniors' education at the regional level. Empirical investigation finished off the main passage of the thesis. It is aimed at finding the motivation to education and its potential barriers that they perceive the project participants. The empirical part of the thesis was carried out by questionnaire survey. Education as a tool for improving the quality of seniors' life

This bachelor's work focuses on education of elderly people, especially whether education influences the quality of their lives. The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part summarises the findings of three thematic parts (old age and getting old, quality of life and the meaning of education for quality of life of elderly people) based on foreign and Czech literature. The work inspects the process of ageing and old age by using appropriate resources, it also inspects this issue from the demographic point of view, the role of international organisations concerning ageing issues, quality of life term definition, its dimensions, models and measurements. Then the work defines the concept of active ageing and deals with its determinants, the importance of education for a quality of life in old age, purpose of education of the elderly, its specifics and educational possibilities in the Czech Republic. The other empirical part focuses on quantitative correlation between satisfaction and education of the elderly people, areas of their interests and reasons for not participating in educational activities.
