Dancing and movement programme for seniors with specific needs

Dissertation title: Dancing and movement programme for seniors with specific needs. Dissertation objectives: The aim of the Dissertation is A) within the framework of a prospective study, to assess the dancing therapy influence on mobility, self-sufficiency, cognitive state, consumption of psycho-pharmaceutical drugs, depressiveness and quality of life of seniors in institutions. If a significant positive effect is proven, then B) to create an easy-to-implement dancing and movement programme for seniors in institutions with a special regard to seniors suffering of dementia and wheelchair-bound seniors who account for 60%-70% of inhabitants of old people's homes. Besides this, also to verify its efficiency on the health condition of seniors, improvement of quality of life, reduction of healthcare consumption, as well as on improvement of communication between clients and treatment staff. Method: A) The three-year prospective randomised controlled study made use of the method of quantitative and qualitative research. It was using the technique of analysis of questionnaire surveys (both ex-ante and ex-post) of intervention, comparison of development in the intervened and control groups, making of video records and their analysis, semi-structured interviews. Design of Electric Wheelchair

The goal of this diploma thesis is design of the electric wheelchair. The purpose is designed with knowledge of historic and todays devices for handicapped people. The design respects aesthetic, ergonomic and technical requirements. The electric wheelchair would go over the usual obstacles, would be solution of long sitting problems and also have an interesting and modern feel.

Thesis describes the design, development and testing of new control unit of the wheelchair. Odometry, complete control of the wheelchair and a simple communication protocol provides to superior sytem an opportunity of autonomous control. The document contains a description of the wheelchair modifications, odometry theory including its application and a description of the unit itself. The basis of the electronic part is an ATmega16 microcontroller. Tests reveal problems of odometry and suggest possible improvements.
Electric and Hybrid Vehicles Analysis

Nowadays, oil resources start to decrease, therefore it is necessary to think about alternative sources of energy. The result of this semester project is a basic overview of the current development of electric and hybrid cars, with potential application in normal operation and the proximity of their main characteristics, such as mileage, price and service when traveling. The energy required to operate the electric stored in batteries are recharged using the power stations, which is also devoted part of the work. The thesis focuses on the design and calculation of power consumption for a defined route of four-wheel electric wheelchair. The conclusion of the thesis deals with the future development of hybrid and electric vehicles, and with the expected trends in the field of power electronics and motors and with the propagation of hybrid vehicles to the customers.

The bachelor’s thesis focuses on wheelchair accessible survey at railway stations. It has been chosen a few different kind of stations which are marked as physically disabled accessible. Railway stations have been thoroughly visited, gauged and explored. The main intention was to solve these problems as an activity chain performed by people at railway stations. It means everything from passengers arrival, do all steps in a station building, to passengers access to platforms and after that getting on the train. Due to large extent of wheelchair accessible, this thesis has only focused on wheelchair users.
The quality of wheelchair from the consumer perspective

The purpose of the thesis is to assess the quality of a wheelchair. The theoretical part is concerned with the issues of quality and it analyze the legislation of technical products and medical devices. The practical part is focused on the product itself, the wheelchair, for which the Ishikawa diagram was created. An important part of this work is a survey of satisfaction amongst users of mechanical wheelchairs. The results of the survey were used as a basis for the proposals to improve the quality of the product.
Using the compensative aids helping with movement and handling at an immobile patient

This BA thesis looking at "The Use of Compensatory Aids Enabling Movement and Handling of Immobile Patients" describes the reaction of the organism to immobility, the compensatory aids and handling of immobile patients. The practical part takes form of a quantitative research. The research compares nurses' experience with handling immobile patients correctly in hospitals and the homes for the elderly. Furthermore, the research states which establishments use lifting equipment and if nurses are aware of the existence of compensatory aids.
