The history of measurement of rock mechanical properties at the Institute of Geonics AS CR
Konečný, Pavel ; Blaheta, Radim
The rock testing and evaluation of parameters for description of rock behaviour is an important part of the research at the Institute of Geonics AS CR since its foundation as an independent institute of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in 1982. Focusing on mechanical testing, the first testing device, the hydraulic press EDZ 100H made in GDR with maximum force 1000 kN, was acquired in 1980, when only a branch of the Mining Institute existed in Ostrava. This equipment was substantially extended in the eighties by two „small“ mechanical presses FPZ 100 (max. force 100kN) and FPZ 10 (max. force 10kN) purchased in 1987 from GDR. But a really great progress came with the mechanical press ZWICK 1494 (500 kN) controlled by computer with a possibility of recording and processing the data. This press was bought from ZWICK Ulm (FRG) in 1985. The deformation measurement was realized by the dial test indicators. The described equipment was used for rock testing with focus on elastic behaviour and uniaxial strength limits, which were required for solving engineering problems mostly related to the coal mining.

The female role in the armed forces - woman's position in the Police of the Czech Republic
Kučerová, Valerie ; Sokolová, Věra (advisor) ; Hašková, Hana (referee)
This diploma thesis introduces a gender analysis of a present standing of women in the Police of the Czech Republic as seen by policewomen - students of the Police Academies themselves. The thesis investigates whether, in the policewomen's view, there are unrecognized and institutionally built-in gender stereotypes which determine women's and men's positions and acts; whether there exists equal treatment of women and men and equal opportunities of women and men (for example in terms of remuneration, decision-making, career growth, access to further education, etc.) in the context of the Czech Police. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on a gender analysis of Police materials covering the historical development of women's positions in the armed forces of the Czech Republic, legal aspects of service in such forces as well as a review of reports and priorities pertaining to equal opportunities issued by the Czech Ministry of the Interior. 6 Within the quantitative research, a questionnaire survey addressing 60 policewomen studying at Secondary Police School of the Ministry of the Interior and at the Police Academy of the Czech Republic in Prague was conducted from April 2008 to May 2008. Gender perspective was employed in all stages of the analysis of the results generated by the questionnaire, i.e. in...

To be and to play
Losová, Anna ; VELDOVÁ, Apolena (advisor) ; DEÁK, Juraj (referee)
This thesis aims to thoroughly analyze and define terms associated with acting like an existence on the stage, experiencing, expressing and illustrating. The first part examines the difference between acting and being on the stage, followed by chapters about experiencing and pretending and potential negative aspects of such acting. Attention is also paid to the issue of repetition of acting performance. Overall, the work aims to reflect on the acting profession, taking into account personal experiences of the author, highlighting the common phenomena and demonstrating each of them, and how it was reflected specifically in her work during her studies at the Academy of Performing Arts. The theoretical part is supported by many quotations which depict precisely and support the author's thoughts precisely. The practical part focuses on the process of creating a graduate role of Raisa Gurmyžská in Ostrovsky's play The Forest.

Termomechanické procesy v poddajných tlumících členech
Pešek, Luděk ; Půst, Ladislav ; Vaněk, František
Effect of increase of heat in the rubber-like materials with high inner damping during repeated deformation is investigated. Rheological properties e.g. stiffness and damping of such materials depend considerably on temperature. Knowledge of complex modulus properties of polymeric damping materials are strongly needed for the design of systems suppressed to vibrations, for the control of vibrations and noise. Simplified mathematical model of two degrees of freedom is analysed from the point of view of lost energy, heat transfer between inner and outer part, cooling of the surface and changing stiffness and inner damping. This model is the first stage for studying of thermomechanic interaction in the 3D form of damping elements by FEM

Adaptive parameterization for Aerodynamic Shape Optimization in Aeronautical Applications

Microstructural stability of austenitic steels during fatigue loading
Kudelka, Martin ; Válka, Libor (referee) ; Pantělejev, Libor (advisor)
This diploma thesis studies the structure of selected austenitic stainless steels which were fatigued at room and depressed temperatures. The theoretical part is divided into three parts. The first one defines the austenitic stainless steels with accent to their chemical composition and microstructure. Second part is dedicated to deformation-induced martensite formation. The third part shows the mechanisms and stages of damage due to cyclic straining. The experimental part is focused especially on the observing of microstructural changes by methods of colour metallography and their relation to stress-strain response of material under selected conditions of fatigue loading. Series of samples of 304 and 316L steels were prepared by colour etching and their microstructures were documented using optical microscopy. Then the semi-quantitative measurements of presence and morphology of deformation-induced martensite were done and the results were discussed and correlated with fatigue damage level.
