Integration of migrants. Case of French in Czech Republic
Klusák, Miroslav ; Suša, Oleg (advisor) ; Duffková, Jana (referee)
This master thesis focuses on integration of highly skilled professionals from Western Europe to East Central Europe. The analysis develops on case study of French managers and their families as temporary labour migrants settled in Prague. The phenomenon of migration of highly qualified work force from the West to the East of Europe becomes more frequent, and thus attracts more and more the interest of researchers. These West European managers, "nomadic elite", come often with their families for five years in average, after which they return to the country of their origin, or move to another destination. The qualitative analysis of interviews discloses that, during their stay in Czech Republic, they do integrate in to the life of society by a specific manner. On one hand, they do enter in contact with local majority society, establish some relationships, but at the same time they do create French community with strong links to France. They do accept very few cultural habits of majority population. Only in the sphere of language and alimentary culture it means that they do not identify with local cultural customs. Such form of integration is facilitated by simple proximity of French and Czech cultures in the context of integrating European Union.

Zkoumání membránových vlastností lipozómů pomocí měření zeta potenciálu
Kortusová, Miroslava ; Miletín, Miroslav (referee) ; Solich, Petr (advisor)
The most comfortable drug administration is the oral one. Unfortunately the protein or peptide substances are not stable in conditions present in the digestive system. Also, thanks to their size and polaritz they are very badly absorbed through the wall of the intestine so it is necessary to modify and specially protect them. Liposomes appear to be suitable candidates - particles with phospholipid membrane not only can protect peptides and proteins against the aggressive environment in the gastrointestinal system they also improve their absorption. Liposomes could be prepared of the wide scale of different phospholipids, surface active substances or bile acid salts. The aim of this research is to prepare liposomes with addition of rarely used substances in practice and substances (particularly cholylsarcosine, stearylamine and d-α-tocopherol polyethylene glycol succinate) and find out some of their surface properties crucial for the further use in liposomes. Liposomes were prepared by film method followed by hydration and manual extrusion through a membrane with defined pore size of 200nm. The average vesicle size was defined by the method of photon - correlation spectroscopy (PCS). We succeeded in confirmation that the liposome particle size is also dependent on the constitution of the lipid...

Evaluation of pulmonary and postural functions in patients with chest wall deformity (Pectus carinatum)
Zbuzek, Daniel ; Bitnar, Petr (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
Objective: The paper deals with the evaluation of the status of pulmonary and postural functions of the patients with pectus carinatum. Further, it deals with the development of pulmonary and postural functions after Welch surgery. Methods: Between the years 2010 and 2011 20 patients (19 men, 1 woman) went through Welch surgery at the Pediatric Clinic of the Faculty Hospital, Prague Motol. The average age of the group was 16,2 ± 1,2 years. Before surgery, pulmonary functions, respiratory muscle strength and posturography were evaluated. The received values were compared with the predicted, i.e. the controlled group, and in order to find mutual dependencies, also among themselves. 7 patients were repeatedly checked for pulmonary functions and posturography in the interval of 8,1 ± 3,0 months after their surgery. Pre and post - surgery values were compared. Results: Dynamic and static hyperinflation and also an increased patency of periphery respiratory tracts was found in 20 pre-surgery patients with PC. Testing of respiratory muscle strength showed significantly lower values than the predicted. Checking for posturography revealed the differences in postural system resulting, especially with complicated postural demands, in medio-lateral instability of the body. Worsening of the balance functions...

Actuality possibilities of electronic signature for natural persons
Pekárek, Miroslav ; Toman, Prokop (advisor) ; Šubrta, Václav (referee)
The purpose of this work is to summarize current knowledge of the electronic signature and to outline its basic principles and technologies in such a manner that would, at least, allow for its potential broadening of awareness in the public, at large. This work focuses not only on theoretical knowledge relating to the electronic signature, but also on possibilities of its acquisition along with eventual practical use in the Czech Republic, or respectively, on its obstacles. The goal of this work is to offer the citizen detailed information about the possibilities of acquiring such an electronic signature, and to make him/her aware of possible difficulties that may arise in conjunction with this process. At the same time, this work should help the average citizen, based on his/her personal requirements and preferences, to eventually decide which certification authority is for him/her most suitable, and whether or not there is any merit for him/her in acquiring such a signature.

The supplementary pension savings scheme in the Czech Republic: Microeconomic evidence of the 2013 policy change
Rückl, Adam ; Janský, Petr (advisor) ; Soudek, Jan (referee)
The thesis investigates determinants of participation in the supplementary pension savings scheme in the Czech Republic and estimates their change with respect to the policy intervention realized in 2013. Using the time series of cross-sectional microeconomic data provided by the Statistics on Income and Living Conditions, the probability of participation and the level of contributions are estimated separately by probit and multiple linear regressions, respectively. The estimated coefficients of both models are tested for structural differences caused by the policy change, employing the pooled dataset of multiple years with additional coefficients to treat the compared period. The analysis confirms that income, age, education and economic activity have a positive effect on both the probability of participation and expected level of contributions. Whereas gender differences for the level of contributions have not been detected, single women on average show, ceteris paribus, 4.6 percentage points higher probability of participation than single men. Unexpectedly high level of activity was observed in case of retired individuals, who in 2014 represented approximately 15% of all participants and collected 20% of the credited direct state subsidy. With respect to the 2013 policy change, no evidence of a...

Study of interactions of biomaterials with human cell cultures.
Maslonková, Ivana ; Kostovová, Iveta (referee) ; Márová, Ivana (advisor)
The bachelor thesis was focused on introducing of techniques of cultivation of human cells in vitro and optimization of their uses in variety of cytotoxicity tests. Further, in this work were studied also interactions of cells with biomaterials and prepared organic-inorganic nanoparticles. In the theoretical part the basic conditions of cell cultivation, the characteristics of keratinocytes as cell cultures, basic characteristics of particles and also short search about the most used tests of cytotoxicity on various cells systems were described. The experimental part was focused on the optimizing the preparation of silver particles, where maltose was chosen as the most appropriate reduction agent. The average size of these prepared particles was 35 nm. The possibility of preparation of combined organic-inorganic particles including liposome particles, PHB particles, alginate particles and chitosan particles was also tested in the thesis. Later, the silver nanoparticles were encapsulated into these organic-inorganic particles as an inorganic component. The liposome particles prepared by ultrasound were evaluated as the most stable of all the other prepared particles. Human keratinocytes were chosen as the cell cultures that were needed for the observation of the particle interactions with human cells. In this work basic methods of cell cultivation and passage were introduced. Conditions of experimental work in cell culture laboratory were setting and possible application of cell cultures to cytotoxicity testing by MTT was tested.

Vliv chovu na kvalitu tuku kapra obecného (Cyprinus carpio)
ZAJÍC, Tomáš
It is the sad fact, that in the Czech Republic, consumption of fish is very low compared with the European Union average, but, at the same time, it belongs to the countries with the highest incidence of cardiovascular diseases. Sufficient intake of n-3 poly-unsaturated and highly-unsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFA and HUFA) is important in preventing and treating cardiovascular disease. Fish is the main source of these compounds in the human diet. This thesis examined factors influencing n-3 PUFA and HUFA levels in fish lipids and ways of increasing the n-3 fatty acid (FA) content in freshwater farmed fish.First, production of common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) with defined flesh quality using a finishing feeding strategy and prediction of fillet FA by a dilution model were investigated, the effects of purging on lipid content and fillet quality of common carp in Central Europe were examined in fish kept for up to 70 days in clear water without feeding; and changes caused by frying on fat uptake, fatty acid composition and oxidation in the fillet of carp with increased n-3 fatty acid content were examined using four different fats to fry either plain or battered fillet.

Survey of preferences of people for climate change policies: do Czech, Polish and British respondents support policy implementation?
Zvěřinová, Iva ; Ščasný, M. ; Czajkowski, M. ; Kyselá, E.
The study summarises results of a questionnaire survey on preferences of inhabitants of the Czech Republic, Poland and the UK for climate change policies. While Czechs would be on average willing to pay around 13-17 EUR per month for the 40% or 80% GHG emission reductions, and the citizens of the UK would be willing to pay 44-46 EUR per month, the Poles’ mean WTP for adopting these targets vs. the current 20% target was not statistically significantly different from zero.
