Information System Assessment and Proposal for ICT Modification
Marinič, Štefan ; Kmenta, Karel (referee) ; Koch, Miloš (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with migration of SAP Business Warehouse system to the new in-memory technology SAP HANA. Theoretical basis defines basic terms, usage in-memory technology in Business Intelligence and migration options. In the practical part, the best option of migration and best practices for the company was designed.
Database Performance Tuning
Paulíček, Martin ; Ruttkay, Ladislav (referee) ; Chmelař, Petr (advisor)
The objective of this thesis was to study problems of an insufficient database processing performance and possibilities how to improve the performance with database configuration file optimizations, more powerful hardware and parallel processing. The master thesis contains a description of relational databases, storage media and different forms of parallelism with its use in database systems. There is a description of the developed software for testing database performance. The program was used for testing several database configuration files, various hardware, different database systems (PostgreSQL, Oracle) and advantages of parallel method "partitioning". Test reports and evaluation results are described at the end of the thesis.
Mobile System for Customer Feedback Collection
Kadlubiec, Jakub ; Szőke, Igor (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
Available Solutions for Server Clustering
Bílek, Václav ; Čejka, Rudolf (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
The goal of this master thesis is to analyze Open Source resources for loadbalancing and high availability, with aim on areas of its typical usage. These areas are particularly solutions of network infrastructure (routers, loadbalancers), generally network and internet services and parallel filesystems. Next part of this thesis is analysis of design, implementation and plans of subsequent advancement of an fast growing Internet project. The effect of this growth is necessity of solving scalability on all levels. The last part is performance analysis of individual loadbalancing methods in the Linux Virtual Server project.
Game Portal in Cloud
Pečínka, Zdeněk ; Otrusina, Lubomír (referee) ; Škoda, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with the development of the gaming portal in Cloud designed for selected PaaS provider. Informs about the possibilities offered by cloud computing. Summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of PaaS providers. It pursues the design and the implementation of the application, focusing on its scalability and modularity. The result is the gaming portal providing games Tanks and Ships, which you can play against other users or against a computer controlled opponent. The solution contains the evaluation of the scalability of the critical components, based on the results of the stress tests.
Universal Reservation System in Cloud
Bulín, Martin ; Kouřil, Jan (referee) ; Škoda, Petr (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes design and implementation of universal reservation system in cloud. Main part of this thesis includes review of cloud providers and existing reservation systems. Furthermore this academic paper deals with proposal and implementation of the reservation system. This system can show us the benefit of the cloud. In the conclusion I deal with scalability of cloud and testing created system in Amazon Web Services cloud.
Comparison of Distributed "No-SQL" Databases with an Emphasis on Performance and Scalability
Petera, Martin ; Šlajchrt, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis deals with NoSQL database performance issue. The aim of the paper is to compare most common prototypes of distributed database systems with emphasis on performance and scalability. Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB) is used to accomplish the aforementioned aim. The YCSB tool allows performance testing through performance indicators like throughput or response time. It is followed by a thorough explanation of how to work with this tool, which gives readers an opportunity to test performance or do a performance comparison of other distributed database systems than of those described in this thesis. It also helps readers to be able to create testing environment and apply the testing method which has been listed in this thesis should they need it. This paper can be used as a help when making an arduous choice for a specific system from a wide variety of NoSQL database systems for intended solution.
Distributed database systems
GEYER, Jakub
This thesis has for its aim to contribute to the problematics of big data distribution on the database level. Particular means of data distribution are analysed, especially in regard to its possible decentralised usage. Acquired findings are consequently used for the creation of the database system concept that enables saving and sharing of biological samples created by measuring with the aid of mass spectrometer.
Comparison of distributed "NoSQL" databases with focus on performance and scalability
Vrbík, Tomáš ; Šlajchrt, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Pavlíček, Luboš (referee)
This paper focuses on NoSQL database systems. These systems currently serve rather as supplement than replacement of relational database systems. The aim of this paper is to compare 4 selected NoSQL database systems (MongoDB, Apache Cassandra, Apache HBase and Redis) with a main focus on performance and scalability. Performance comparison is done using simulated workload in a 4 nodes cluster environment. One relational SQL database is also benchmarked to provide comparison between classic and modern way of maintaining structured data. As the result of comparison I found out that none of these database systems can be labeled as "the best" as each of the compared systems is suitable for different production deployment.
Cloud Computing and its Applications
Němec, Petr ; Voráček, Jan (advisor) ; Přibil, Jiří (referee)
This diploma work is focused on the Cloud Computing and its possible applications in the Czech Republic. The first part of the work is theoretical and describes accessible sources analysis related to its topic. Historical circumstances are given in the relation to the evolution of this technology. Also few definitions are quoted, followed by the Cloud Computing basic taxonomy and common models of use. The chapter named Cloud Computing Architecture covers the generally accepted model of this technology in details. In the part focused on theory are mentioned some of the services opearating on this technology. At the end the theoretical part brings possibility of the Cloud Computing usage from the customer's and supplier's perspective. The practical part of the diploma work is divided into sections. The first one brings results of the questionnare research, performed by the author in the Czech Republic, focused on the usage of the Cloud Computing and virtualization services. In the sekond section is pre-feasibility study. The study is focused on the providing SaaS Services in the area of long-term and safe digital data store. Lastly there is an author's view on the Cloud Computing technology future and possible evolution.
