Concept of "the artworld" in Arthur C. Danto´s philosophy
SCHMIDTMAYEROVÁ, Petra
The basic topic of this Bachelor thesis is the philosophy of one of the most influential American philosophers of the second half of the 20. century - Arthur C. Danto. The aim of this study was to introduce two of his most discussed studies - ?The Artworld? and ?The End of Art?, to incorporate them into the context of the Anglo-American aesthetics of the 20. century and to critically evaluate their influence. Heroes in the colors of Zhang Yimou
Bernardová, Helena ; Dufek, Jiří (advisor) ; Ulver, Stanislav (referee)
Heroes in the colors of Zhang Yimou is mostly about three movies from famous director Zhang Yimou. Hero, House of Flying Daggers and Curse of the Golden Flower are epic movies which combine martial arts with drama and philosophy. Stories are amplified and influenced by color stylization. In Hero colors support construction of the movie. Silver and gold are figting against each other in Curse of the Golden Flower and House of the Flying daggers is shot in colors of nature. My work also looks into symbols of those colors and tries to find out whether those symbols are understandable for European as well as for Chinese audience and how European audience can profit from Zhang Yimou´s interpretation of the world.

Objective and Subjective Cognition of Beauty in the Writings of St. Thomas Aquinas.
FLEISCHMANN, Dan
This thesis deals with the objective and subjective cognition of beauty by a scholastic philosopher Thomas Aquinas. The initial chapters provide historical sources and a source of St. Thomas´s beauty, because beauty was not the main topic of theology and philosophy in the Middle Ages. From the definition of beauty, we know that beauty belongs to the cognitive power, thus next chapters present the activity of the senses and reason, by which we recognize beauty. (Pulchrum autem respicit vim cognoscitivam). This cognitive power results in the objective characteristics of beauty, ie.: a) integrity; b) proportion; c) clarity.) The penultimate chapter justifies the importance of knowledge of objective and subjective beauty, from which it follows in us enjoyment (delectatio et amor). If there is a reason to evaluate the knowledge and principles relating to the beauty, there is a necessary overlap present knowledge such as science. The final chapter addresses the interesting question of modern science - aesthetics: "Whether beauty, as written by Thomas Aquinas, is a specific distinct transcendental or only implicit transcendental initiated by the philosophers of the 20th century?" The thesis tries to show the importance of studying medieval philosophy in shaping topics such as beauty and art.

On the Role of Man in the World (Contemplations in the Late Works of Jan Patočka)
PIZINGER, David
Annotation This work is interested in the late philosophy of Jan Patočka. The leading idea is to find basic motives in Patočka{\crq}s concept of The care of soul, and tries to make a connection to his life and social context. One of the most important expressions of the social reality is art. Jan Patočka{\crq}s continuing theme was the problem of human exsitence. How to live an authentic life. The post modern art is also interested in being authentic. The man according to Patočka is a personality determined by going out of his self and by finding this self from a different point of view. That is the question for performing arts: How to express the inside to be visible, how to make it a partner of a dialogue? Which means that Jan Patočka{\crq}s philosophy can be realized by some special kind of praxis. A praxis which is not practical as such. In the works of Jan Patočka, Being and social role play a substantial role. The problem of narration {--} a myth as a part of the process of young man{\crq}s identification and his acceptance from the society. The question of how to be a part of a society implicates another one: what are the foundations of society? What is the idea of European society? Questions concerning the heritage of Europe are {--} in anticipation {--} questions about the sense of Europe (or the European Union) today. In general, is there a possibility to live together, in any kind of human comunity? Through society he gets back to individuality with its questions. Patočka tries to ask concrete questions, expecting answers from Being itself. What is important: he doesn{\crq}t want to make a comprehensive system (following the example of Platón), he only urgently seeks the questions which can open the Being's truth. The sources: This work uses Jan Patočka`s texts from the 1970s. It compares them with texts from the field of art and tries to find their historical context.

Conceptualisation of Art: Negation of Form and the Problem of Nature of Conceptual Art.
ŘÍHOVÁ, Monika
The bachelor thesis deals with the problematic aspects of avant-garde, which were amplified and developed in the postwar movement known as neo-avant-garde in visual art, and especially with its conceptual tendencies which represent constant challenge for current aesthetics. Firstly the basis of aesthetic theory of art will be outlined in order to explain and show where the critique of aesthetics by conceptual artists is leading to. Then it introduces possibilities and limits of selected definition strategies, character of the relationship of conceptual art to other types of art and non-artistic activities, especially its approach to the philosophy and science. The key points of this thesis are: What is conceptualism? What transforms the neo-avant-garde pieces of works into art? Can we apply aesthetic categories at conceptualism? In which way does the conceptual piece work as a symbol?

Poetika imanence: performance divadlo Forced Entertainment
Suk, Jan ; Wallace, Clare (advisor) ; Roraback, Erik Sherman (referee) ; Voigts, Eckart (referee)
Jan Suk The Poetics of Immanence: Performance Theatre of Forced Entertainment Abstract The present dissertation thesis examines the multi-faceted nature of the devised as well as durational works of the British experimental theatre Forced Entertainment via the thought of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari. The aim of the thesis is to explore the transformation- potentiality of the territory between the actors and the spectators. The transformativity of this interspace, or the territory in-between, is decodable namely via Forced Entertainment's performances' structural patterns, sympathy fostering aesthetics, virtual audience integration and accentuated emphasis of the now. The application of Deleuze's philosophy, chiefly the phenomenon of immanence, results in the definition of the poetics of immanence, whose operation enables the transformativity of theatrical space to be terminologically embraced. After delineating crucial terms, such as performance and theatre, live art, or postdramatic theatre, the initial chapter contextualizes Forced Entertainment as the pivotal experimental theatre group; the chapter further conducts an analysis of relevant critical literature in performance and theatre theory discourse. Chapter two provides a deeper contextualising study of the most significant Deleuzoguattarian...
