Awareness of Volunteering in the Czech Republic and Abroad among Students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of South Bohemia University
MARKOVÁ, Marcela
My work is focused on the volunteering. It aims to introduce the Healthy Social Faculty of the Southern Bohemian University in České Budějovice (ZSF JU) and its faculty volunteering. It describes where the volunteers can involve themselves (Czech Republic and abroad) and also the condition of volunteering at the faculty (regarding how many students are involved and informed). My work is supposed to be a study material for students of ZSF JU. It can be used as an information source for the faculty management and it can also be an inspiration for the future concept about volunteering. It has two parts; theoretical and practical (experimental) one. The structure of ZSF JU and the history of the volunteering at the faculty are described in the first part. Moreover there are definitions of: volunteering, volunteer, types of volunteering and its legislation base including the brief Czech history of volunteering. Following part informs about benefits of volunteering and particular fields where we can find volunteers. Theoretical part is finished with a chapter about international volunteering. The aim of the practical part is to analyze how students are informed about possibilities and benefits of volunteering in the Czech Republic and in the world. The aim of my work is set up there and also the hypothesis which have been confirmed or uprooted. Moreover the methodology of the practical part is explained there. I have used a questionnaire method via server "Vyplnto.cz". The questionnaire itself was send using collective correspondence to all student´s email addresses at ZSF JU. There were 478 valid responds from the students of ZSF JU both distance and daily study. Following chapter presents research results gained through statistics of graphs and charts. You can see results of each question in context with other parameters as age, sex, form of study or field of study. The hypotheses were tested via statistics methodology of good matching, called "Chi-square distribution". The results show that students of ZSF JU are informed about possibilities of volunteering in CZ. However they lack information about possibilities abroad. Students of distance study are better informed and more involved than students from daily study. Another part is a chapter called Discussion, where particular results are interpreted and compared with results of similar researches. In the final part you can find the resume of the results and the evaluation of the aim. Students from ZSF JU have quite a good knowledge about volunteering. However, in some concrete parts there is a space for improvement. The conclusion of the work offers some solutions.

The Typology of Decoration in the Books of Hoursfrom late Middle-Ages (Book of Hours from the National Museum in Prague, XVI.G.77)
Horáková, Dominika ; Kubík, Viktor (advisor) ; Royt, Jan (referee)
v angličtině/ English Summary The Typology of the Decoration of Books of Hours in the late Middle Ages (The Book of Hours from the Library of the National Museum in Prague, XVI G 77) The aim of the study is a basic introduction to typology problems in books of hours in the late Middle Ages; the text discusses liturgical, cultural-historical contexts, iconographical and typological variations in the decoration of books of hours. Chapter 4.2. is focused on one concrete example - the Book of hours from the Library of the National Museum in Prague (XVI G 77). This manuscript is very different when compared with examples from preceding chapter 4.1. This piece of common production is much more simple - not only in terms of textual variety, but also in terms of decoration (it lacks both a compact iconographical cycle and iconographical inovations or particularities). Therefore I try to create some extended descriptions of the decoration of the Book of hours from the Library of the National Museum in Prague, and also to develop my own hypothesis about the date and location of the origin of this manuscript. My hypothesis is based on the polemic with the three existing allusions about this manuscript and also on the proper iconographical and stylistic analysis itself. Finally, I propose that the full-page...

The Gniezno Cathedral Door - Iconography of St. Adalbert in Medieval Times and in the Context of Medieval Europe
Bala, Alice ; Royt, Jan (advisor) ; Kubík, Viktor (referee)
Alice Bala The Gniezno Cathedral Door - iconography of St. Adalbert in medieval times and in the context of middle Europe The Door, although we do not know much of those who made them, is believed to be founded in the 1170's and 1180's. They constitute of eighteen panels or rectangles, nine on each side of the door's wings. All of them feature a part of story from the life of St. Adalbert. They are a very complex piece of craftsmenship. In my study I have tried to analyze them mainly from an iconographic and also historic point of view. This study further pays attention to the question of a St. Adalbert religious cult, which appeared in Europe almost emidiately after his death in 997. This religious cult of a saint blossomed in the medieval times namely in Poland, Hungary and the Czech lands. With a use of domestic and foreign language literature on this theme, I have made an attempt to show the latest tendencies in this field. The ways of enriching the Arabic lexicon with a special respect to journalistic style
Bielický, Viktor ; Zemánek, Petr (advisor) ; Oliverius, Jaroslav (referee)
The present study consists of two parts. The first, theoretical part focuses on brief and mostly lexical characteristics of the Arabic media language style (Chapter 2) and describes in outline all word-formational methods used in Modern Standard Arabic for lexical innovation, especially in the field of scientific and technical vocabulary (Chapter 3), i.e. derivation (ištiqq), lexical borrowing (tacrb), composition (nah t), semantic extension (maz), and translation (tarama). The second part (Chapter 4), based on a digitalized corpus of newspaper texts (Lebanese daily newspaper al-H ayt), deals in detail with word-formational, structural, syntactic, and semantic analysis of selected one-word, compound and multi-word lexical units (collocations) in Modern Standard Arabic. An Arabic-Czech dictionary of all lexical material treated in the text is attached to the study (Appendix).

The influence of the antiquity on the oldest French poetry
Pometlo, Ondřej ; Pohorský, Aleš (advisor) ; Kyloušek, Petr (referee) ; Kuťáková, Eva (referee)
The dissertation focuses on comparison of medieval writings presenting the actions of Julius Caesar to French readers, specifically Li Fet des Romans, Roman de Jules César and Li Hystore de Iulius Caesar. Interpretation of accessible texts is based on analysis of the translation process: comparison of the antique original and its medieval variants in French language as presented in medieval manuscripts. The author opens the dissertation with introduction to factors influencing the medieval translator; among others the ability of complex understanding of the original text, education and awareness of other literary works, oral component of culture; and the way of thinking and of interpretation of the world.

Anthropological conceptualisations of sexual categories
Prokopík, Petr ; Vrhel, František (advisor) ; Uherek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Skupnik, Jaroslav (referee)
The thesis inquires into the possibilities which anthropological study has in attempting to conceptualise the rich manifestations of human sexuality. It discusses the problems of biological determination and normativity in the study of sexuality as well as its problems in cross-cultural applications. In examples of interpretation of well known phenomena such as "hijra", "two-spirit" and "ritual homosexuality" it demonstrates theoretical concepts of "third sex", "third gender", and "sexual lifeways" as possible tools of cross-cultural categorization. It presents an original field research investigating the formation of a specific new alternative sexual category within gay communities in three language contexts - Czech, English and German. Offering a situational analysis which concerns not only a description of cultural meanings and symbols known by actors, and an analyses of historical development, but also offers an interpretation of actors subjectivity displayed in individual motivations, desires and meanings created and used by actors. It endeavours to give a reflection of relations between sexual category and individual motivations during the process of accepting sexual identity and forming an alternative sexual category.
