Functional parts valuation of the building
Ševčík, Jaroslav ; Nový, Martin (referee) ; Marková, Leonora (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with comparing of current awards by Classification of building structures and works and awards by Functional parts. It is possible to calculate Building life cycle costs by Functional parts. This is definately the advantage of the system because the calculation cannot be done by Classification of building structures and works. A new law on public procurement deals with Building life cycle costs as an evaluation criterion. So it is recommended to use Functional parts awards. The other goal of the thesis is to find bridges between Functional parts and the issue of BIM. BIM is a trend of global construction industry.

Surfaces of Building Practice

My diploma thesis Surfaces of Building Practice deals with the basic properties of surfaces, their mathematical description, categorization, and application in technical practice. Each studied surface is defined and its process of construction and parametrical description is listed. The thesis studies selected types of surfaces in details - these surfaces include surfaces of revolution, ruled surfaces, screw surfaces, and translational surfaces. An application of each studied surfaces is shown and each surface is accompanied with a picture. The thesis also contains a picture attachment with photographs of buildings from all over the world on that the studied surfaces visibly appear. The diploma thesis has an attached DVD that contains studied surfaces as models created in the Maple program, presentation with animations showing creation of selected surfaces, and the diploma thesis in the electronic format. Apart from these, the DVD contains source files of all pictures in the thesis. The thesis is outlined as an educational text for the teachers and the students of descriptive and differential geometry, and for those interested in architecture as well.

The administrative development and life in the state asylum in Prague
Chaloupková, Petra ; Hlaváčková, Ludmila (referee) ; Ebelová, Ivana (advisor)
This work traces a 95-year period of working of the Municipal Establishment for Deranged People (Zemský ústav pro choromyslné) in Prague. More exactly, it deals with the period from its foundation in 1791 until the origination of its successor institutions - the Czech and German Psychiatric Clinics in the year 1866. The first part of the work describes the foundation of the establishment, beginnings of its operation, its successive disaffiliation from the General Hospital (Všeobecná nemocnice), of which it was initially a part, its rapid building development, and the establishment's day-to-day life. In the year 1846, the establishment became a stand-alone medical institution, entirely independent of the hospital's management. It was a state charitable institution and, as such, it was financed by the state. It obtained additional funds for its operation from the fees for the provided care and other activities. The Chapter Two, which maps the years 1846-1864, addresses not only these financial matters, but also the establishment's separate administration and its other building and qualitative developments. The last Chapter is devoted to the period of the years 1864-1886 when the establishment was completely assigned to the administration of the Municipal Committee. Woman´s Clothing Factory
Kovářová, Hana ; Štikar, Jaroslav (referee) ; Nový, Alois (advisor) ; Donaťáková, Dagmar (advisor)
The women´s clothing factory is situated in the city part Brno-Židenice in the area of one so called „brownfields“. Currently there are rusty storages and old garages standing in the building ground. The site is bordered by several streets – it is Rokytova street, Komprdova street and Údolíček street – and the fourth side is closed by boundaries of a cemetery. The area can be entered from the north-west street Údolíček. According to the ground plan, its location is temporary, so we changed it a little to better match the needs of the company. The entrance for pedestrians is situated at the north-west too. And there are also parking places and other necessary manipulation space situated on the grounds. The clothing factory is aimed at production of Giorgio Armani´s women confection so the architectural solution is based on the basic philosophy of the company. Their models are famous for their simple design with a patterned fabric that make them special. So the basic mass of the object is a simple block, which is sensitively placed at the surrounding landscape and which is made special by the parts of ovals that are embedded or comming out of the basic mass. These parts of ovals create both – resting and functional spaces. The strong horizontal character is broken by a cylindrical body stucked into the basic shape that surmounts the block by one floor. A big part of the production hall is glassed-in so we can get enough light into the interier and the employees can be in touch with the surrounding. There is a facade net strunged in front of the glass facade. The net limits overheating and also plays the role of the unifying element. The building integrates a producion hall, storages, sanitary rooms, administrative space, canteen with affilated spaces and energy traffic necessary for running the factory. The wing cell is a steel skeleton combined with reinforced concrete circumferential wall and tie brick walls.
