Basic Income as an Instrument of Social Policy

Subject of this bechalor's thesis is to evaluate theoretical concept of basic income. At first the paper will define basic income as such and then it will describe it's history and alternations. Futher, the paper will uncover fucntion's of current social welfare system in the Czech republic. Primary goal of this thesis is evualuate economic and social benefits of basic income, and lays down a question if it's possible to ipmlement such system in the Czech enviroment.
Comparison of the concept of maternity and parental benefits in the Czech Republic and selected European countries

The thesis Comparison of maternity and parental benefits in the Czech Republic and selected European countries dealing with the issue of support for families with children through social system. The paper briefly describes the benefits provided by the Czech Republic and other European countries. The other countries are the United Kingdom, Denmark, Italy and Germany. In the analytical part of the work is the concept of single doses compared and consequently are formulated recommendations for the Czech Republic, which should take from other states. At the same time, there are processed example term experience in other countries monitored. Preparedness of Young People from Institutional Care for Independent Life

The bachelor thesis focuses on young people in an institutional care and their prospects in the labour market. The first part describes the system of substitute care and support services for entering an independent adult life. The previous research has shown that if services are not sufficient the people from institutional care do not manage successful socialization and become a burden on the social system of state and its economy. The second part contains a comparison of description of a theoretical functioning of the system of institutional care and real cases of children who lived in the institutional care. A qualitative analysis is used here. The result of the thesis is the evaluation of quality of institutional care and supporting services and the influence they can have on the success of young people entering the labour market.
Supporting families in the context of current demographic trends in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis is focused on the demographic trends in the Czech Republic, on explanation of the principal demographic terms, on comparison of trends in the Czech Republic with neighboring countries and it shows the predictions of demographic trends for the future. It also analyse the benefits for families, what types of the support exists in the Czech Republic and it compares this support with other countries. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the support for families in the Czech republic, find some imperfections and try to recommend some solutions how to motivate families to have children. The other aim of the thesis is to find some economic and social risks by the analysis of the historical demographic trends.
The Theme of Evil and the Moral Concern in George Orwell´s Novels A Clergyman´s Daughter, Animal Farm and Nineteen Eighty-Four

This diploma thesis is concerned with the analysis of famous novels written by the English writer George Orwell. It is confronted with ethical concept represented by Emmanuel Lévinas. The thesis is about a social evil in all aspects. It observes the roots of historical events and searches for the crucial solutions why evil is still present in the human society and can be a threat for the society anytime. The thesis discusses the elements like demagogy, physical and psychological terror towards the humans in any possible dictatorships. At the end of the thesis, the author is drawing on Orwell´s and Lévinas´s ideas, which should be respected in the correct functioning of any social system.
Charakteristiky srsti podzemních hlodavců ve vztahu k jejich termální biologii

The relation of fur to the thermal biology of mammals was studied. Qualitative and quantitative (length, density and insulation volume) fur parameters of six rodent species with subterranean activity were determined. The explored species vary in many characteristics, such as ecology or kinship.
Models of social policy in the European Union

Bachelor thesis titled "Models of social policy in the European Union" characterizes the social models in the European Union and the comparison of selected indicators. The work is divided into two parts. The first part is focused on theoretical background of social policy followed by the historical development of social policy in the process of European integration and typology of social models that underlie the understanding of the issue. The practical part is trying to provide general view of social system in the Czech Republic and find out how social policy of the Czech Republic approximates to the European social model. In conclusion, there are some suggestions for improving Czech situation.
Support for mothers and families with children in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis explores the sphere of supporting motherhood and families with children in the Czech Republic. The first part defines important terms, and establishes the context of the topic. Attention is also paid to analysis of demographic trends in the Czech Republic and European countries, and to the possible social and economic risks of said trends. Thereafter the bachelor thesis defines concrete tools for direct financial support of families in motherhood and parenthood. Additional information includes a description of the legislative conditions surrounding the receiving of funds, and explains the functioning of those systems. The tools for indirect financial support for families with children are presented and explained as well. The bachelor thesis focuses on inter-national comparison of selected tools of aforementioned support. Subsequently, attention is paid to qualitative interviews of actual families with children. The conclusion of this text summarizes the main author's recommendations concerning the possibility of improving the current system of maternal and parental support for fami-lies with children in the Czech Republic.
The Nordic Welfare State Model

The Nordic welfare state is usually referred to as the most successful model of its kind; this social system based on the principle of universalism is a common ideal for other European states. The goal of the diploma thesis The Nordic Welfare State Model is to introduce this social model, both from a theoretical and practical point of view. The description of theoretic models as well as the history of European welfare states are vital in order to understand the functioning of social systems; however the main purpose of this paper is to characterize the Nordic welfare state model through the examples of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden and to capture the main commonalities and disparities in comparison with the rest of Europe. Based on up-to-date analyses of mainly Scandinavian researchers as well as reports of international organizations this paper offers an extensive analysis of the Nordic Welfare State Model.
