Large families with children in the Czech Republic

This diploma thesis wants to find out main needs of large families in the Czech Republic. Families with three and more children are minority group for which social and family policy don't have specific measures. These families face to many problems, especially to the lack of financial resources and complicated reconciling of work and care. Situation of families and adjustment of social and family policy in the Czech Republic are compared with large families in France and with French family policy which is aim at reconciling of work and care in last years. Although adjustment of French welfare state is different, the inspiration for Czech system will be defined. Major benefit of this thesis is focusing on large families in the Czech Republic which don't receive social benefits and at least one parent is economically active.
Attitudes of undergraduates towards starting families and chosen topics of family cohabitation

1 ABSTRACT This bachelor thesis is concerned about family. The main topic is to exam attitude of university students towards family and family life and their opinion about family policy. First part of the thesis deals with theoretical approach to the examined topic. The main content of the first part is familiarizing with basic terms, characteristic of society, parenthood and family policy. The second part is mainly about the research itself. The results of research prove that family as a basic unit loses it's importance for young people and individual personality becomes more important. Most of informants plans to start a family, but in time of financial stability and after satisfying their needs of "enjoying life". The research also proved, that students of pedagogical faculty plan to start family sooner than students of technical or economical fields. Results also shown, that martial status in time of born of first child is also important for the informants. Students also want to start a family regardless on financial support from the state, but they would use it if there will be the chance. By their opinion state's family policy should support more young families with children. Social policy of the Czech Republic in relation to families with disabled children and its effectiveness in the fight against social exclusion

Bachelor thesis "Social policy of the Czech Republic in relation to families with disabled children and its effectiveness in the fight against social exclusion" deals with the problem of the risk of social exclusion of families who take care of the disabled children. The theoretical part contains a summary of theoretical concepts and values which bind to the topic, and includes the conceptualization of terms that are the subject of this thesis essential. In the analytical part are defined the main instrument of social policy in the Czech republic in relation to families with disabled children and based on interviews with concrete families there is an assessment of the social security system of familes with disabled children from the perspective of its users. Based on interviews are also identified the main problems which families with disabled children face. The conducted research shows that families who take care of disabled children are faced with many problems especially existencial and the social help system of families with disabled children does not sufficiently protect against the risk of social exclusion of mentioned families.
Alternatives to formal care for children of preschool age

The bachelor thesis "Alternatives to formal care for children of preschool age" deals with preschool childcare in the Czech Republic, with focus on its alternative forms. This issue needs to be discussed as the capacity of public nursery schools is insufficient, therefore the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has published Set of Pro-family Measures - Pro-family Package. In this package legalization of new forms of preschool childcare provided at private or non-profit basis is proposed. These alternatives, those that are currently regulated and public nursery schools and crèches as well are described and then the current situation of prepared changes in alternatives to formal care is introduced. These issues are also subject of qualitative research, which constitutes the following part of the text. In this practical part of the text expert interviews were held to explore experience and attitudes of preschool children's parents and carers from preschool facilities about these forms of preschool childcare. According to primary data the positives and negatives of different forms of preschool childcare are identified. Regional Family Policy in the Czech Republic

The Bachelor thesis "Local family policy in the Czech Republic" puts mind to the implementation of local family policy in practice and to its connection with community planning of social services. In the beginning of my thesis I attend to the definition of local family policy in the Czech Republic, of community planning of social services and their possible instruments. On the basis of my interviews and the study of various documents I realized that municipalities and regions don't exploit possibilities of support of families, that the law about municipalities and the law about regions give them, and that they implement support of families by project of community planning of social services. So in the next part of my thesis I put my mind to possible connection between this project and the implementation of local family policy. In the following part of my thesis I deal with two projects of local family policy and with the aid of outcomes of interviews I examine the satisfaction of families with practical realization of these projects. Development of policies for reconciling work and family life for mothers with children under four years

The submitted text examines the relation between work-family balance policies and social construction of mothers with children under four years of age. The first part of the thesis outlines the context of work family balance. The research is positioned in the perspective of the theory of social construction of target population by Ingram and Schneider. The following chapter is devoted to the research methodology used throughout the analytical part of the thesis. The analytical part presents answers to questions regarding policy design, framing of the work family balance, stereotypes and social construction of mothers with children under the age of four.

Active fatherhood as a part of family policy in EU Abstract The main objective of this thesis is to explore the conditions that determine the active involvement of men in the care of children in European Union member states and to analyze the impact of active fatherhood on the economic activity of women and fertility. A part of this study is a typology of family leaves with regard to the possibilities of fulfilling nature of active fatherhood, analysis of legislative conditions connected to paternity and parental leave as well as analysis of the Eurobarometer 59.1 survey dealing with the attitudes of men to use parental leave and the circumstances of these attitudes. The relationships between the main factors that influence the decision making of men about their participation in the care of the youngest children are analyzed and there is also tested the effect of this decision. In conclusion, the study outlines the development of conditions of childcare by men and summarizes proposals of legislative changes in conjunction of the studied issue in the Czech Republic.
Women between family and work. Conditions for harmonization of work and family in Prague

Diploma thesis "Women between family and work: Conditions for harmonization of work and family in Prague" is focused on current problem which is being dealt with on national as well as supranational level. The aim of this thesis is to describe the factors influencing harmonization of family and professional life of the mothers with children from two to six years old in region of Prague and find out whether the policy of state and regional governments reflect these factors. Chosen factors are described from the macro perspective but individual influences are also dealt with. On one hand the attention is allocated to state policy, especially from the point of view of Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, but also from the point of selected municipality - municipal authority of Prague and municipality Prague 17.
