Large-scale Nature Conservation Areas in the Czech Republic and Selected European Countries in the Legal Context
Mazancová, Eva ; Franková, Martina (referee)
The main goal of the thesis is to analyze and compare the degree of protection of the large-scale nature conservation areas in the legal orders of the Czech Republic, the Russian Federation and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and, in the conclusion of the thesis, to answer the question of whether these countries' regulation provides a sufficiently effective protection to these areas. Legal orders of the examined countries are analyzed with regard to the scope and effectiveness of the large-scale nature conservation legal instruments. Administrative instruments are examined and compared, including the degree of proprietary rights restrictions and related compensations of property loss. Furthermore, the conceptual and economic instruments (both positive and negative stimulation) are also examined. The analysis also focuses on the regulation of legal liability in regard to the large-scale nature conservation. Next, the thesis focuses on the institutional framework of the large-scale nature conservation in the examined countries and on the evaluation of the scope of the nature protection authorities' competence. Another point of interest is the degree to which the rights of the relevant subjects (owners, municipalities, environmental NGOs) are affected by the designation of a...

Territorial environment protection and the NATURA 2000 Network
Bůžková, Renáta ; Franková, Martina (advisor) ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (referee)
The thesis is focused on the theme, which is current almost every time, even in every state, and that is the protection of the nature. We all are a part of the nature, which is all around us. It must be protected, so as future generations can experience its beauty. The interest in the theme results from the author's job that is why the author decided to discuss the theme and outline its difficulties. The work itself is divided into three parts. Most of the first part focuses on the specific territorial nature and landscape protection, which consist in announcing various categories of specially protected areas; it also focuses on the providing tools for their protection and care. In the thesis, general territorial nature and landscape protection are not omitted, because they, using certain institutes, provide significant protection to the fragments of nature or territories, which do not attain such values to be declared as protected. In the second part of the thesis, the author discusses the type of territorial protection, which is relatively new in the Czech Republic and which was created in connection with accession to the EU. On the basis of the habitats directive and the birds directive, there a protection provided to the important European species of plants and animals, including birds, and for...
Šumava National Park and Interests of its Municipalities: The Case of Postmaterial Cleavages?
Musilová, Karolína ; Jüptner, Petr (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
The diploma thesis Šumava National Park and Interests of its Municipalities: The Case of Postmaterial Cleavages? analyses, if the postmaterial cleavage is present in the case of Šumava National Park and how is it projected on the national level. Since the very beginning, there have been argues about the notion of the national park, where two different set of ideas collide. On the one hand, there are local municipalities which depend on incomes from tourism, on the other hand, the environmentalists seek for growing extent of areas without any human intervention. The theoretical background is based on concept of cleavages by S. Rokkan and S.M. Lipset. Special attention is paid to the postmaterial dimension of the cleavage, which was evolved by R. Inglehart. The analytical part consists of case study, which examines the attitudes of the stakeholders. The examination is based on semi-structured interviews with mayors, official documents and media coverage of the topic. According to the findings, there is a cleavage, which is visible on all levels of political system, including political parties and presidents.
Ohrožené druhy rostlin v národních parcích ČR: srovnání z pohledu chráněných fenoménů a managementových přístupů
Rejzková, Tereza ; Härtel, Handrij (advisor) ; Reif, Jiří (referee)
Bachelor thesis aims to contribute to currently on-going conservation debate on the role of the national parks (not only in the Czech Republic): to what extent should the national parks protect natural processes and to what extent the species / habitat diversity (e.g. Härtel 2009a, 2009b). The conservation background is represented by the management categories of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) (Dudley 2008). General conservation dilemma between the concept of wilderness and protection of diversity by active management is currently stressed mainly by entomologists. This work aims to contribute to this topic based on data on endangered plant species (Grulich 2012) (including protected ones) in four national parks in the Czech Republic. Endangered species represent together with protection of the processes and diversity of inanimate nature (geodiversity) one of the conservation subjects of the national parks. The number of endangered species in the national parks as well as the species composition of this group illustrates the significant biogeographical differences between the Czech national parks as well as very different natural phenomena protected by the parks. Comparison of threatened species in the Czech national parks and habitat requirements of these species will,...
