Passive Methods of Turbocharger Noise Reduction
Saňák, Stanislav ; Kudláček, Petr (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
In my bachelor thesis, first I introduce to reader, how turbocharger works and what function it holds. I remind basic concepts in section of sounds, which are important to understanding this thesis. Then I focus on turbochargers from the perspective of the noise origin. I explore parts of the turbocharger individually too. To these parts, I assign characteristic types of noises, which can be found there. Then I explore these noises more in detail to find out, why they arise, what is their spectrum of frequencies, sound pressure levels and much more. I also focus on problems of spreading these noises and how they affect other parts of different means of transport. According to these characteristics, I divide different types of these noises to appropriate categories. In next part of my thesis, I try to answer, how noises could be supressed mainly by passive methods, which mostly means implementation different types of silencers. At the end of my thesis, I evaluate individual types of methods to supress noises in different types of turbochargers. Then I focus on their advantages or disadvantages and I try to find the most suitable method to supress these noises in different types of turbochargers.
Design of Low-Pressure Piston Rheometer
Lán, Radek ; Strecker, Zbyněk (referee) ; Roupec, Jakub (advisor)
This thesis is focused in design of Low-Pressure Piston Rheometer intended for experimental identifying of magneto-rheologic (MR) liquid properties at long-term load. MR liquid is briefly introduced in the initial part of the thesis. There follows a search related to way of liquids properties measurement and overview of MR dampers which are close to piston rheometers by their construction. MR dampers with through piston-rod have been emphasised. The second part of the thesis is focused on calculation of magnetic circuit of the rheometer throttle leak. The rheometer is designed in the last part of the thesis.
Mathematical Model of Vehicle Damper
Vrba, Michal ; Hejtmánek, Petr (referee) ; Blaťák, Ondřej (advisor)
This master’s thesis describes development of parametric model of monotube damper which would be able to predict damping forces. This model is intended for 3-way racing dampers which are built with foot valve and external adjusters. Each flowing path was included to calculate the damping force. Also, mathematical model for shim stiffness was created. First part of the master’s thesis was focused on the description of function of the damper and physical effects that influence damping characteristic. In the next part, the mathematical model was described. The damper was correlated and validated on damper dynamometer. Final part of thesis focuses on the investigation of input arguments and their influence on resulting damping.
Magnetorheological damper for Formula Student
Dlápal, Václav ; Strecker, Zbyněk (referee) ; Mazůrek, Ivan (advisor)
The master thesis deals with design, manufacturing and testing of a prototype magnetorheological damper developed for Formula Student vehicle. The aim was to design and test the damper with similar damping properties to the vehicle as a conventional damper has. Target force-velocity curves were set using quarter car model and evaluated comparing minimal contact force of a tyre for conventional and newly developed damper characteristics. Structural analysis of designed parts, hydraulic and static magnetic analysis were performed. Manufacturing of a specific part magnetorheological damper part was described – piston. Manufactured prototype damper characteristics were evaluated.
The Use of Inerter in Vehicle Design
Lanzendörfer, Tomáš ; Hejtmánek, Petr (referee) ; Blaťák, Ondřej (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the inerter application in vehicle’s suspension. The aim was to perform a theoretical analysis of its features, to compare its construction layouts, to create a multibody model of the car’s suspension and to analyse inerter’s effects while performing different driving manoeuvres. All analyses were performed by MSC Adams View software with a little support from Matlab. The quality of ride comfort and accessible traction force were increased by the inerter almost in every case, and dynamic load of the suspension was also decreased in some cases. The inerter is a device with high potential, but with high purchase costs as well, so further development and practical research is necessary.
Study on wear of material in contact with MR fluid
Žáček, Jiří ; Vimmr, Jan (referee) ; Kubík, Michal (advisor)
This paper is focused on MR dampers and its critical parts in term of damper`s durability, which seems to be a piston-rod seals, and it should find an ideal material combination of seal and MR fluid for increasing the damper`s life. The tests were conducted in modified pin-on-flat configuration, which was supposed to be more suitable for laboratory testing. There was tested and compared a suitable material for seals, like PTFE, NBR, SBR of polyurethanes. The article is also focused on MR fluids and its contribution to seal`s wear. The impact of particle concentration, wear of MR fluid and effect of modification of MR fluid was tested. It showed up, that the best material for seal is H-PU95FDA. The effect of particle concentration is negligible on seal`s wear, while effect of modification and wear of MR fluids are significantly higher.
Multi-body model of a motorcycle suspension
Kotas, Jakub ; Lošák, Petr (referee) ; Březina, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the rear wheel suspension of a motorcycle. Theoretical basics of the suspension design and terms, essential for the understaning of the work, are breifly explained. A review of contemporary used spring, shock-absorber and suspension system types is presented.
Front Axle of a High-performance Sports Car
Exhaust Manifold for Formula Dragon 3
Brezanský, Vít ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Svída, David (advisor)
Main goal of this thesis is to design exhaust manifold for Formula Student car Dragon 3. Construction parameters follow requirements on high engine power and also have to meet some restrictions given by competition rules. Lotus Engine Simulation software was used for modelling the engine (originally from Husaberg FE 570 motorcycle) and for determination of influence of the exhaust parameters on power characteristics. This thesis is also dedicated to noise emitted by the exhaust system which is important due to Formula Student rules.
