Semantic annotation of domain dependent data
Fišer, Dominik ; Vojtáš, Peter (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
One of the problems of semantic web is automated getting annotated data - web pages. Therefore this work is engaged in manual annotation of web pages and try to simplify this process for users using proposed methods. First part contains analysis of annotated data, users and vocabularies used for annotation. Afterwards are proposed methods which simplify annotation creation for users, the possibility of usage similar annotations or possibility highlight interesting parts of web page suitable for annotation. The work includes proposal of annotation tool user interface also that verifies proposed methods in practice. On the basis of this proposal was created a prototype implementation of the annotation tool Semantic Annotator as an extension for Google Chrome browser, which was also used for experiment verifying user-friendliness especially.
Web application for presentation integrated inspection data
Finger, Artur ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor) ; Knap, Tomáš (referee)
An initiative arises across the globe, to publish government data as Linked Data, thus con- necting it to other parts of the semantic web. Together the data forms the Linked Data Cloud, which serves as a rich data source for numerous applications. Overcoming unexpected pro- blems, we managed to convert data about inspections carried out by the State Veterinary Administration into that format. For that we used an ETL tool called UnifiedViews. Resulting data were described using well-known RDF ontologies. Then, also using UV, we integrated this data with Linked Data of the Czech Trade Inspection Authority. We created a web ap- plication, that uses this integrated database to search for fair businesses. Using a database server called Virtuoso, we managed to implement search by geographical coordinates. Our application is extensible by new data sources and extracted SVA data are available as open Linked Data.
Application for Parallel Data Processing Control
Grepl, Filip ; Smrž, Pavel (referee) ; Dytrych, Jaroslav (advisor)
This work deals with the design and implementation of a system for parallel execution of tasks in the Knowledge Technology Research Group. The goal is to create a web application that allows to control their processing and monitor runs of these tasks including the use of system resources. The work first analyzes the current method of parallel data processing and the shortcomings of this solution. Then the work describes the existing tools including the problems that their test deployment revealed. Based on this knowledge, the requirements for a new application are defined and the design of the entire system is created. After that the selected parts of implementation and the way of the whole system testing is described together with the comparison of the efficiency with the original system.
Semantic Analysis of Web Content
Hubl, Lukáš ; Rychlý, Marek (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
This work deals with the topics of semantic web, web page segmentation and technologies, which are used in this area. It also deals with a modification of one web page segmentation method, specifically DOM-based segmentation, using semantic web technologies. Thus, this work designs the way of web page segmentation based on semantic analysis of individual elements of the web pages content. An application that demonstrates the functionality of the designed segmentation method was also created within this work. With the implemented application, experiments were performed, whose results are also part of this work.
Semantic Web - Tutorial and Examples
Hanyáš, Petr ; Chmelař, Petr (referee) ; Očenášek, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis deals with design and realization of interactive presentation consists of tutorial which topic is "Semantic Web" and related demonstration examples with comments. Thesis is also consists of users' and commentaries' administration, testing system with random generation of questions, fulltext search engine and description of ontology editors. The aim of whole thesis is to create educational materials with a possibility of checking reached level of knowledge. Motivation for making this thesis was lack of complete materials in Czech language dealing with this problem. My aim was to create these kinds of materials so it can be intelligible to wide range of readers.
Searching Semantically Annotated Texts
Grešová, Katarína ; Smrž, Pavel (referee) ; Dytrych, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the issue of semantic searching over indexes of big text data. The aim of this thesis is to design and implement a search engine with web user interface enabling dynamical configuration of access to indexes and editing annotations in the text. The thesis analyzes the current search engine solution and its shortcomings, which results in a specification of requirements for a search engine that is suitable for common use and fulfils the potential of all search engine related tools. The thesis also describes the design, implementation and testing of the resulting system, which also includes an extension in a form of global constraints, which increases the accuracy of the requested search result description.
Semantic web in the confrontation with Peirce's Semiotics
Řeháčková, Dana ; Fišerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Švantner, Martin (referee)
The Semantic web was created for the conceptualization of data available on the Internet. Through formalized representations that are determined for data sharing and reusing, its vision should be achieved. One of the main aims of the Semantic web is to achieve answers to a searched question which demonstrates high exactness and relevance. The controversy and polysemy of the term "Semantic web" lets us consider the question: "What is the limit of involving semantic aspects provided on Semantic web?" Is it not only the amount of determinations of specific standards that are connected with data itself? The main aim of this thesis is to compare the use of the terminology appearing on the Semantic web in semantic metadiscourse with traditional academic semiotic approaches appearing from pragmatism of Ch. S. Peirce, Ch. W. Morris, and H. P. Grice. The main thesis aim is to clarify the function of semantic web, basically its function and its conception, by comparation academic's semiotics' approaches of pragmaticism Ch. S. Peirce and pragmatism H.P. Grice to help with mapping the problematic area which is connected with using terms such as "meaning," and "understanding," and to explore and make less confused the possibilities of the function of the Semantic web.
Utilization of Knowledge Systems and Bases for Selection and Evaluation of Domestic Electrical Installations.
Haluza, Miroslav ; Martínek, Zbyněk (referee) ; Gurecký, Jiří (referee) ; Toman, Petr (advisor)
My doctoral thesis deals with use of the sophisticated methods for the selection of technical and economic solution of electrical wiring. This solution is based not only on a price but also on many other criteria such as a comfort, service, durability etc. The focus of the work is a treatise on wiring systems from a global perspective, where it is impossible to use a conventional approach for objective evaluation and selection of the appropriate electrical wiring system (because of the complexity of such systems and their interdependencies). In the four chapter are given information of an energy consumption (the total consumption and household consumption). In this chapter is given also a consumption prediction – especially for households. Following is an overview of possible measures for reducing electricity consumption in households. In the next part of this thesis are solved the knowledge, respectively expert systems for use in an electrical engineering – especially for a suitable tool for the selection and evaluation of households wiring electrical system. The result of this work provides a possible solution for a selection of wiring electrical system for households (focusing on the intelligent wiring) – from a technical and economic point of view and with using an innovative approach. The main contribution of this work is a proposal of the main part of the knowledge base. This base could be as a basis for knowledge, respectively for an evaluating technical and economical solution of an electrical wiring system – the expert system includes also a feedback function of an effectiveness solution, use value, price etc., which would also serve as a knowledge base.
Ontology Based Information Extraction from the Web
Buba, Vojtěch ; Bartík, Vladimír (referee) ; Burget, Radek (advisor)
The main aim of this thesis is an extraction of information from web based on conceptual modeling with ontology. The main goal of this thesis in question is implementation of a tool, which process input ontology and enable additional editing through graphical user interface. Readers of this thesis will be introduced with languages for writing ontologies, for example RDF, RDFS or OWL. Two extraction methods which use ontologies to describe extracted informations are also explained. Final solution is designed to consider all needs of extraction task defined by Ing. Radek Burget Ph.D. Output of this tool is definition of extraction task compatible with solution FITLayout, being developed at FIT BUT.
Books Recommender System via Linked Open Data
Maleček, Ladislav ; Peška, Ladislav (advisor) ; Škoda, Petr (referee)
This thesis focuses on using recommender system's methods on Linked Open Data in a domain of books. After thorough analysis of multiple available Linked Open Data sets, we have concluded that data sets of sufficient size and quality already exist. Together with careful analysis of the structure and quality of the data, recommender system web application has been developed based on retrieved data from a Wikidata endpoint. The application design allows an incorporation of data from multiple sources. A novel approach for generating recommendations utilizing multi language tags extracted from Wikipedia was used. We have shown that it is possible and viable to use recommender systems on top of the Linked Open Data, but the common recommender system's algorithms have to be modified in order to deal with a huge amount of sparsity in the data.
