Staněk, Michal ; Syllová, Jindřiška (referee)
The key concern of the thesis is whether the Parliament has been respecting the Constitutional court. In order to answer this question, the theoretical part resolves the very existence of the Parliament's obligation to follow the Court and its decisions. The empirical part provides two points of view on the subject. First, the role of the Court and its decisions in parliamentary debates is being discussed. Second point analyses the reactions of the parliamentaries in response to Court's findings abolishing a law or its part during the VII. election period of the Chamber of Deputies.

The main objective of my diploma thesis is to analyze and evaluate the Political Movement ANO positioning within the political parties system of the Czech Republic by using a methodological framework approach. The thesis provides an analysis of electorate shifting and selected political parties manifestos as well as their comparison with the Political Movement ANO. Timewise, my focus is on the period prior to the election to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2017. As for analytical purposes, the Hierarchical Bayesian Modeling has been used. This statistical model helps to get the respective values and to show the electoral vote changes between the last two parliament elections (to Chamber of Deputies). The author uses quantitative and qualitative research for comparison and analysis of programmatical convergency as defined in the election manifestos of various political parties. For manifestos quantification a coding scheme by a Comparative manifesto project group has been applied. The reason for using the above mentioned scheme is that it provides a structured methodology to quantify the domains that the political parties do focus the most in their manifestos. The aim of the analytical part of the thesis is to define how and especially from where the Movement ANO...

These experts create campaign strategies and plans, train party leaders in communication, provide brand analyses, etc. The primary objective of this thesis is to analyse how the campaign of the Czech Pirate Party was conducted in 2017, whether they collaborated with external experts and what elements they had in their campaign.

The role of obstructions in the Czech legislative system
Sedláček, Martin ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Švec, Kamil (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is to describe the use of obstruction mechanisms in the Czech legislative system, where in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, as key legislative institutions of the parliamentary system, has been making massive damages in the form of blocking the negotiation of draft laws for many years. The reasons that led to the Rules of Procedure of the Chamber of Deputies permitting the existence of this phenomenon are not quite obvious, but they are an integral part of the parliamentary culture of our country, which existence is mainly used by the legislative minority. Even though the Rules of Procedure have a clear wording, which allow the existence of obstructions, their use is often considered as unconstitutional, as their use often exceeds the affordable limit. The main objective of this theses is to introduce to the reader all the instruments that help to obstructions and subsequently to show their use in practice during the meetings of the Chamber of Deputies within the last three parliamentary term, including the period in progress.

Vondřich, Marek ; Weiss, Tomáš (advisor) ; Tomalová, Eliška (referee)
This Master thesis examines reasons of Czech politicians to decide on sending armed forces of the Czech Republic into military missions and operations of the European Union. The Czech Republic in researched years 2003-2016 took part in six out of twelve EU's military missions and operations. During these years, the support at the Czech political scene towards said missions and operations changed many times, depending on the position of certain party in the government or in the opposition. Thesis uses content analysis of discussions for its research. These discussions took place in the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic between years 2003 and 2016 and were associated with government's proposals on the deployment of the Czech armed forces abroad. Each Member of the Chamber of Deputies' contribution is assigned into one of defined categories: Security, Profitability and Appropriateness. The main hypothesis is that the majority of contributions in the researched debates belongs into Appropriateness category, largely due to importance of commitments towards allies in the EU. The second hypothesis is that the amount of arguments belonging into Security category will rise in the last couple of years, mainly because of the worsening security situation in the European Union and the...

Bahenský, Martin ; Koubek, Jiří (advisor) ; Polášek, Martin (referee)
This submitted bachelor thesis analyses an attempt to reform the electoral system to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic after the 2006 election. The proposed so-called "Greek variant" of the Topolánek's electoral reform established a bonus for the winner of the electoral competition within the proportional representation stipulated in the Czech constitution. The theoretical framework is based on the theory of mixed electoral systems by Canadian political scientists Louis Massicotte and André Blais. The aim of author of this work is hypothetical application of this failed electoral reform to the parliamentary election in 2013, its classification according to Massicotte and Blais and last but not least, a criticism of this attempted electoral promoted particularly by Civic Democratic Party. In the first part of the thesis its author introduces regional differences related to specific variables or election results. In the second part a large dataset is made on a municipality level and applied to a disctricts' level subsequently. Migration and its social construction in approaches of political parties in the Chamber of Deputies in the Czech Republic
Burešová, Zdeňka ; Novotný, Vilém (advisor) ; Jelínková, Marie (referee)
Migration is a phenomenon which has strong impact on the Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is currently under transformation from transit country to immigration country. At the present time the situation is even more complicated because of the migrant crises which impact all of us. I suppose that the Members of Parliament will create social constructions or narratives about migrants during the sitting of parliament. I aim to identify social constructions of migrants that are created by the Czech political parties represented in the Chamber of Deputies since the 2013 election. I will divide social construction into two main groups. Ones belong to migrants and the other ones to refugees. I would like to find out if there are more positive or negative social constructions and how are benefits and punishments distributed to these groups. I would like to discover key narratives of particular political negotiation as well. Theoretical background of this thesis is the social construction of target population theory of Anne Schneider and Helen Ingram. In the manner of Lina Newton's article "It is not a question of being anti-immigrant: Categories of deservedness in immigration policy making", I will use a combination of discursive and narrative analysis as the main method. I will analyse statements and...
