Medieval building offerings from the archaeological perspective

This bachelor thesis deals with intentional deposits, a material evidence of customs connected with the foundation and construction of medieval buildings. The general principles of building offering recognition in the archaeological contexts were formulated on the basis of archaeological, written and ethnographical sources. Difficulties with their interpretation and terminology were discussed pursuant to the current discourse in European archaeology. Individual archaeological findings in the area of today's Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia from 6th to 16th century are presented and evaluated. Their list is also contained in the catalogue, which is put to this thesis. Work of Jan Jiří Schauberger in Moravia

Work of Jan Jiří Schauberger in Moravia This Diploma thesis treats about the life and work of Jan Jiří Schauberger, a baroque artist, who came from Austria, but worked and lived in Moravia, where he created many statues, as well as wooden or stucco sculptures, particularly in the interiors of churches. Among his best known and also the first work in Moravia belong riding statue of Caesar's fountain placed in Olomouc, erected in 1725. For the rest of his artistic life concentratedd his work primarily for sacral objects. He died relatively young as in his roughly 44 years in 1744, the exact date of his birth is unknown but is widely placed of about 1700. The first chapter is devoted to detailed criticism of literature related to the topic. Second, extensive chapter deals comprehensively with the life and work of sculptor. In the third chapter the author reflects on J. J. Schauberger's personality, in the next as about the artist. And last, the great part, is divided into several subsections depending on the material that was used for each major works, which the author discussed in detail in further sections. At the end the summarizes his findings.
Arturo and Agostino: a Comparison Drawn between the Boy Protagonists of the proses by Morante and Moravia

The Bachelor thesis has comparative character and focuses on the comparison drawn between the boy protagonists of the proses L'isola di Arturo by Elsa Morante and Agostino by Alberto Moravia with an emphasis on initiating storyline of both works. In each chapter this thesis compares similarities and differencies between both works and their protagonists. At the same time there are compared authors' approaches to the topic and their choices of style of writing. After the initial presentation of both authors, their proses and their insertion into the literary context the thesis deals with the comparison of both proses and afterwards with the comparison of their protagonists Arturo and Agostino. In the first part of the proses, the perspective of their narrative structure, setting, time and the role of the narrator are studied. Each chapter of the second part of the thesis is focused on the family relationships of the protagonists, their adolescence and awareness of their own sexuality and of their inner world. Both proses are written in the form of the novel and describe the difficult journey of teenagers towards adulthood. Observance of Traditions and Customs in Bohemia and in Moravia

The dissertation Observance of traditions and customs in Bohemia and in Moravia focuses on issues of Czech and Moravian traditions, customs and holidays, namely on two important holidays Easter and Christmas. These two holidays are the most significant events of ecclesiastical year but they are favourite as well among inhabitants of the Czech Republic, in particular Christmas. Various customs and traditions are handed down from generation to generation and they occupy a significant position in people's lives. In the introduction the terms that are important for this work are explained as well as the significance of traditions and customs for culture, current situation of culture is mentioned as well. This work presents description of the two mentioned holidays in the context of Czech culture. In the second part of this work you can find comparison of selected elements with regard to particular Czech and Moravian customs. Apart from presenting of presented Easter and Christmas customs and their comparison, the work aims to define tendencies which occured and name these tendencies. In the conclusion, the findings about differences between Czech and Moravian customs are summarized and defined, the prognosis about future development of observing customs is mentioned as well. The Žerotín Family and the Castle in Náměšť nad Oslavou

The bachelor thesis focuses on the castle in Náměšť nad Oslavou and the Žerotín Family in the time of renaissance. The content of this thesis is a historical and architectural development of the castle and its sculptural decoration. Part of the text will be also dedicated to the Žerotín family, history of Náměšť nad Oslavou. I will also mention the castle in Rosice. They both are built in the renaissance era and have some architectonical and sculptural similarities. The work focuses on the times of late 16th and early 17th centuries - it is time of first Habsburgs on the Czech throne. Photos of the Náměšť castle and other pictures are at the end of this works.

History of Znojmo's brewery (1363-2010) - abstract The content of this Bachelor Degree Thesis is the complete history and building development of the only remaining Znojmo brewery in the period of 1720 to 2010, a brewery that is no longer operating. At the same time, this thesis describes the history of brewing in Znojmo begining from the first sings in the 13th century (emphasising 1363 which was a legendary year for Znojmo's brewing) till 2010 when the last brewery in Znojmo was completely closed and the tradition of brewing in Znojmo lasting for almost 700 years was interrupted. The following chapters describe for example the origin of the name "Hostan", the present name of Znojmo's beer, concentrating to all products, once produced in Znojmo brewery, and awards that once famously delicious Znojmo's beer Hostan received all round the Czech Republic. The thesis completely summarizes all the years of Beer Festival - a modern tradition that arose thanks to the existence of brewery and ceased, when the brewery was closed. Greek and Roman Influences in Creamware and Porcelain from Czech Lands from the End of 18th Century and First Half of 19th Century

The technique of manufacturing of creamware and porcelain was discovered in Europe during the 18th century. The objects made from these materials document the social changes and the development of the dining culture, which both occured during the 18th century. At the end of that century classical culture became a fundamental inspirational source, which had been supported both by the discoveries of the ancient towns, Pompeii and Herculaneum, and by publishing books presenting ancient art. From the end of the 18th century the creamware and porcelain objects were started to be manufactured also in the Czech lands. In this master thesis I have studied, how the ancient influences were manifested in the products of the Czech and Moravian factories, from where they came and how they were transformed. The thesis does not cover all porcelain and creamware production, however it focuses on those factory where it was possible to detect ancient influences. The approach of the particular factories was strongly different. Czech porcelain factories took over ancient themes more likely from graphic patterns used in European workshops. Blücher's palace and the Baroque production in Opava

The main objective of the Bachelor thesis was the performance of the baroque palace with the name Blücher, which is located in the centre of Opava, familiarity with its complicated historical and building developments, survey of facades, interiors, documentation of the palace, but also describe political and cultural circumstances in which this Baroque work was created.
