Early ontogeny of mother offspring bonding in Bovinae

The aim of this thesis is, based on the literature, to study the origin, characters and duration of social bonds between the mother and her offspring in Bovinae. The emphasis was given on the specifics of the behaviour related to birth and ecological differences between species. The explored group covers medium and large Artiodactyla living in groups. Many of them were domesticated, and they live in specific conditions so their behaviour may differ. The strongest bond is between the mother and her offspring. This bond is essential for the young, which is completely dependent on the maternal care. Maternal behaviour may be observed few days before parturition, but the most visible sign is maternal separation from the herd to secure exclusive interaction with own offspring. Mother learns to recognize her offspring after parturition, primarily by smell, also for this reason the young is licked. Suckling provides the nutrition to the calf, but also it reinforces mutual relationship. The strength of the bond is mainly dependant on the social environment, strategy of the young, it's age and other factors. The bond between the mother and her offspring differs according to the species, in the duration and in a way of termination. This topic is nowadays only poorly understood and needs further research.

Vliv sourozenecké kompetice během přítomnosti u struku na mateřské chování u prasete domácího

This diploma thesis deal with the neonatal sibling competition during nursing within first day after farrowing, focusing on maternal reaction on neonatal sibling competition during nursing. We predicted that the sow will terminate nursing by a changing posture or by a non- nutritive nursing (i.e. nursing without milk ejection) with increasing number of fights and screams. A total of 19 healthy sows and their litters were directly observed and video recorded during first day after farrowing for 6 h. The behaviour of piglets (fighting, screaming, presence at the udder) in the pre massage and the post massage was scored every 15 seconds. Piglets which missed milk ejection, posture changing of the sow and whether the nursing involve milk ejection were noted. A sum of fighting and screaming piglets in the pre massage and the post massage was calculated. A higher sum of fighting and screaming piglets correlated with a higher proportion of non-nutritive nursing (P<0.001) as well as with a higher proportion of sow posture changing in the pre massage (P<0.01). However, a higher sum of fighting and screaming piglets did not increase the probability of sow posture changing in the post massage. An activity in a prepartum and postpartum period with patients suffering from multiple sclerosis The theme of the bachelor thesis is an activity in a prepartum and postpartum period with patients suffering from multiple sclerosis. In the theoretical part, the multiple sclerosis itself is characterized with all its main features. The second part of the theoretics is focused on the relation between MS and pregnancy. The practical part works with the hypothesis that the health state improves during pregnancy, but unfortunatelly worsens after the birth, considering the brest-feeding. The goal of this work is to confirm this hypothesis. To conclude, the hypothesis was confirmed, except the fact that brest-feeding has a significant influence. The bachelor thesis We grew up on Sunar - marketing communication in the area of infant formula examines the issue of advertising infant formula, with special focus on the communication of the brand Sunar. A brief outline of the history of breastfeeding and development of artificial infant formula, offering a comprehensive insight into the subject matter, is followed by a case study of the Nestlé company. This case brought on significant changes in the perception of the issue of infant feeding marketing as well as in the regulations limiting greatly the options of marketing communication in this segment. Important legislation is briefly introduced. The work then presents a concise history of the Hero company and its brand Sunar and in detail analyzes and describes individual elements used in selected samples of advertising; these are placed in a larger social and historical context and confronted on the basis of common marketing communication theories. The work also mentions the most significant non-governmental breastfeeding organizations and their activities. The aim of this work is to explore the communication of the brand Sunar resulting from the consumer perception of the brand and to sum up the facts from the area of communication strategies of infant and child nutrition companies.

Art and Motherhood

The dissertation Art and Motherhood deals with the influence of motherhood on the experienced reality of women active in artistic practice - artists, theorists, curators and activists. Using feminist and artistic research methods, I collect and analyse the specific experiences of individual mothers. Capturing the breadth of possible views, perspectives and experiences that motherhood brings is essential to my research. I am not concerned in isolation instances of specific artistic realisations, but rather with the processes, environments and contexts of making, and the creative and life strategies employed in reconciling the personal and professional roles of individual women artists. The content of a series of thirty-five conducted interviews comprises the research material for the work, but is also the source for the practical component of the dissertation - the book Milk and Honey co-published by the wo-men and AVU publishing houses. The practice of two related community-based mothers' groups - Breastfeeding Guerillas and Mothers Artlovers is also examined. While Breastfeeding Guerrilla is a support group for mothers promoting and normalizing breastfeeding, Mothers Artlovers is a support group for parents in the arts. All of these research units set a community-based perspective on all research affecting the universal, multi-layered and inherently collective topic of motherhood.

Puerperium from the perspective of physiotherapy

This diploma thesis explores the ways in which physiotherapeutic procedures and concepts can be used to positively affect puerperium after a physiological childbirth. The beginning of the theoretical part describes the physiology of puerperium, lactation, women's psychological well- being during the postpartum period and postpartum complications. The main part of the thesis focuses on the application of physiotherapeutic methods and concepts during puerperium. The output of this part forms an information handout with exercises appropriate throughout puerperium. In the practical part of the thesis, a questionnaire survey of two groups of women at the end of puerperium took place to objectively evaluate the effect of the information handout. The aim was to find out whether women who are prepared for the puerperium and know how to use targeted exercises to support the regeneration of the body after childbirth experience a milder course of the puerperium, feel psychologically better and evaluate their breastfeeding effectiveness more positively. The experimental group (n = 32) received the information handout during pregnancy and used it in puerperium. The control group (n = 37) did not receive the handout. Breastfeeding women's awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding

The aim of the present study is to determine the level of awareness of breastfeeding benefits among breastfeeding women. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part describes the history of breastfeeding, the composition of breast milk, prerequisites for successful breastfeeding and contraindications to breastfeeding. Furthermore, the benefits of breastfeeding for the child and the mother are discussed, together with factors affecting breastfeeding. In addition, the availability of information on breastfeeding in the Czech Republic is also briefly mentioned. In the practical part of my thesis, I used a method of quantitative research - specifically, an anonymous non-standardized questionnaire of my own design that was distributed to breastfeeding women. I based the questionnaire on the predetermined objectives and research questions. I chose the PAPI (paper and pen interviewing) survey method and used basic descriptive statistical methods (namely, absolute and relative frequencies) to interpret the results.
