Factors underlying parental decisions about childood vaccination
Kočišová, Eva ; Podaná, Zuzana (advisor) ; Hamplová, Dana (referee)
The presented thesis deals with the issue of mothers' decision-making in relation to their child's vaccination against pneumococcal infections. An on-line survey of mothers was conducted (n = 180) in order to obtain data for the theoretical model based on the theory of planned behavior (TPB). A hierarchical logistic regression was then performed in order to analyze the model with the intention to vaccinate as the dependent variable. The results of the regression analyses were supplemented by results of correlation analyses and non-parametric tests. The theory proved itself as a strong predictive instrument and the results suggest that the attitude is the main predictor of the decision in this non-representative sample of mothers. The subjective norm, as the second construct of the TPB, contributes only in certain case and the perceived behavioral control was not found influential at all. The perception of thread of contraindications of the vaccine proves also influential next to the attitude. The beliefs that mothers hold about the vaccine were analyzed according to mothers intentions to vaccinate (n = 70) or not to (n = 110). These results support the idea that mothers, especially those who do not want to vaccinate their children against pneumococcal infections, decide particularly according to...
The governing bodies of the association of owners of (residential) units and their decision/making
Bednář, Oldřich ; Oehm, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Horáček, Tomáš (referee)
- Governing Bodies of the Unit Owners' Association and Their Decision- Making The aim of my thesis is to analyze the system of governing bodies of the unit owners' association, their decision-making, powers and liability. The thesis also attempts to focus on and to clarify certain legal questions relating to the provisions of the Unit Ownership Act that cause problems of interpretation with the professional public, courts and unit owners. The thesis is composed of five chapters. Chapter One is introductory and outlines the legal framework of the topic and relevant Czech legislation, and sets out the aims of the thesis. Chapter Two examines the nature of the unit owners' association as a legal entity endowed with limited (special) legal personality that is formed by operation of law (ex lege). The association may exercise only such powers and only to the extent expressly permitted and set forth in the provisions of the Unit Ownership Act (No. 72/1992 Coll.) such as administration, operation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of common elements of the building. Each unit owner in the building submitted to the Unit Ownership Act is entitled to undivided ownership of common elements, and also becomes a member of the relevant association. Chapter Three addresses the issue of the Articles of...
Homebirth: intimate partners' perspectives
Jiřičková, Barbora ; Hrešanová, Ema (advisor) ; Ezrová, Magdaléna (referee)
This bachelor thesis addresses the topic of a planned home-birth from the perspective of the father of the child and investigates his role in the decision-making concerning the birth place and the birth itself. The experience of the man is examined in the context of the whole couple. The thesis is based on qualitative research which examines the above-mentioned topics in the Czech context using semi-structured interviews with women who gave birth at home and their partners. The empirical chapters represent the results of the thematic analysis and their interpretation, supported by relevant literature. The thematic categories that frame the respondents' statements are three: decision-making process, presence at birth and the presence of the father from the mother's point of view. The study indicates that men are often not fully integrated into the decision-making process itself. The reasons for the low level of integration of men into the decision-making process can be found on the part of both women and men. The work presents which factors might determine the male experience with home birth, as well as which circumstances might affect the degree of involvement in childbirth itself. Furthermore, the work presents strategies by which men overcome the fears associated with childbirth at home and...
Risk of Choosing a Supplier Using Fuzzy Logic
Vyskočilová, Monika ; Janková, Zuzana (referee) ; Dostál, Petr (advisor)
The thesis deals with the design of a model used for evaluation and selection of fire-retardant footwear suppliers for the company Požární bezpečnost s. r. o. The thesis includes a summary of the theoretical foundation for processing the work, a presentation of the selected company and a draft of an evaluation model that assesses the contractor based on the chosen criteria and makes it easier for the company to make their decision. The model is created by using fuzzy logic in Microsoft Excel and MATLAB programs.
The Application of Fuzzy Logic for Rating of Suppliers for the Firm
Ondruch, Lukáš ; Šebestová, Monika (referee) ; Dostál, Petr (advisor)
The master’s thesis deals with the use of fuzzy logic for evaluating the quality of suppliers of IT goods and other material for a selected company. The fuzzy model should facilitate decisions when selecting individual suppliers who should deliver goods for the implementation of IT projects. The model created in Microsoft Excel and MathWorks MATLAB should be helpful to the company's management and sales representatives.
Influence on Political Decision-Making - March 2020
Červenka, Jan
In March 2020 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions connected to decision-making of politicians. Czech public evaluated the level of influence of chosen areas and institutions on decisions of Czech politicians.
Algorithmic Selection of Feasible Preferences
Siváková, Tereza ; Kárný, Miroslav
This bachelor’s thesis studies the optimal decision making for a discrete Markov decision process with a focus on preferences. By using a fully probabilistic design that introduces the so-called ideal behavior distribution, which has high probability values of preferred behaviors and small probability values of inappropriate behaviors, an optimal decision policy has been found. The thesis constructs an algorithm for selecting the optimal ideal behavior distribution and provides a more general solution than published ones. The thesis also opens a possibility to specify further preferences on selected actions. Properties of the resulting decision making are illustrated on simulated examples.
Parenting in the context of cultural inequalities: how parents justify their child-rearing strategies
Šulcová, Zuzana ; Frantová, Veronika (advisor) ; Hájek, Martin (referee)
This thesis is written from the perspective of cultural sociology and focuses on middle-class parents and justification of their child-rearing decisions. It describes how parents choose and evaluate the institutions their children spend time at, how they "other" parents with different values and how they relate to concerted cultivation - a type of parenting style which currently dominates the middle-class context. This parenting style (or ideal) puts a great deal of pressure on middle-class parents and it causes a symbolic war among them: a war for acknowledgment and a certain position in the cultural space. This thesis describes who the participants "other", which child-rearing strategies participants approve of, what values are crucial for them and what problems they deal with. Furthermore, four main differences between the participants' approach and the concerted cultivation approach were identified: emphasis on friendship, emphasis on balance between activities and rest, emphasis on fitting in with the majority and emphasis on approval of certain authoritarian methods such as imposing punishments, applying restrictions and issuing directives.
