The Impact of Injuries on the Mental Health of Athletes
Vighová, Kristýna ; Dlouhý, Martin (advisor) ; Panská, Šárka (referee)
The thesis deals with the issue of athletes returning to training and match process after injury, with focus on their mental health. The goal is to indentify negative psychological states that subsequently affect the performance of athletes, and their frequency in athletes returning to the training and match process after injury. A sub-goal is to find out the following possible variables involved in increasing/moderating these conditions. The work verifies the frequency of occurence of negative psychological states; investigates the influence of repeated injuries, differences between woman and man athletes, differences in individual and team athletes, and also verifies the frequency of use of coping strategies an their specific form. The work is devided into a theoretical and a research part. The theoretical part was prepared on the basis of Czech and foreign language professional literature. In the research part,we use the psychological questionnaire CSAI-2 to determine the occurrence of anxiety and its influence on the performance of individuals in sportsman, who have suffered injuries. We expected that the injury would increase the athletes's anxiety at the time of returning to the training and match process. Communication of paramedic with patients with panic attack and anxiety in the prehospital care
KLEINOVÁ, Elena
Departures for anxious patients and patients having a panic attack are a relatively common case when it comes to prehospital care. Correct attitude and communication style are crucial for primary care and stabilization of such a patient. The theoretical part of this work is dedicated to the issue of states of anxiety and panic attacks, their symptoms, causes of emergence and ways of possible intervention in premedical care. It further covers communication with a patient and psychological intervention. The aim of this work was to find out about the awareness of paramedics concerning panic attacks and states of anxiety, how do they perceive those patients, how do they gain knowledge and skills in the area of communication with anxious and panic patients and how do they use these in action. Looked into were also the methods, with which paramedics achieve psychological stabilization of the patient, how do they handle such cases and how do the patients react to this. There was also an emphasis on communication and its influence on the patient. Research was done qualitatively in a form of semi-structured interviews, which were conducted with paramedics of the South Bohemia and Karlovy Vary regions. Set goals were fulfilled by the research. It has been shown that each of these case sis very individual, for this reason it was often difficult for the paramedics to form their answers to be generally valid. When it comes to knowledge and handling the situations alone, the paramedics draw on their own experiences, because their awareness in this area has shown itself to be very superficial. Despite this, their practical and communication skills are on a very good level. I firmly hope that both the theoretical and practical information contained in this work will find their use and will eventually serve the paramedics or anyone else, to whom it may be useful in any way, either to gain information or practical use. I believe, that modern technological possibilities, such as programs offering practical methods for effective providing of first psychological aid, will find their use even in the field of premedical care.
nomophobia in nurses
GROMSKÁ, Veronika
Nomophobia in nurses Abstract Introduction: this bachelor thesis focuses on the prevalence of nomophobia in nurses. The theoretical part deals with addiction, anxiety, description of nomophobia and the occurrence of nomophobia in healthcare. Nomophobia in nurses is a very serious problem, as due to the frequent use of mobile devices, negative consequences such as postponing important tasks, hoarding tasks or distraction occur. Aim: The aim of this study was to map the prevalence of nomophobia in nurses working in intensive care units and standard wards and also to map the effect of nurses' education on the prevalence of nomophobia. Methodology: Data were collected using a standardized Nomophobia questionnaire (NMP-Q). 80 (100 %) questionnaires were distributed and the overall return rate was 61 (76.25 %) questionnaires. Results: out of the total 61 nurses (100 %), every nurse showed some degree of nomophobia. The largest number of nurses, namely 36 nurses (59 %) were found to have a moderate degree of nomophobia. 22 nurses (36 %) were found to have a moderate degree of nomophobia and 3 nurses (5 %) were found to have a severe degree of nomophobia. The results also showed that nurses from standard wards showed a higher degree of nomophobia than nurses who worked in intensive care units (p = 3,9 %). It was also found that the degree of nomophobia did not differ among nurses according to their level of education. Nurses with both secondary and tertiary education showed the same degree of nomophobia (p = 20,5 %). Conclusion: The contribution of this bachelor thesis should be insight into the topic of nomophobia in nurses and the impact of nomophobia on the quality of care provided. This thesis should offer nurses a material that summarizes everything that is related to this issue and at the same time the thesis can serve employers of health care institutions to motivate nurses more.
Relationship between "self-efficacy" and stress coping during challenge activity
Laudová, Veronika ; Psohlavec, Lukáš (advisor) ; Bačáková, Radka (referee)
Title: The relationship of "self-efficacy" and experiencing state anxiety in challenging activity. Goals: The aim of this work was to find a relationship between self-efficacy and state anxiety in challenging activity in overcome a high obstacle. Methods: Thirty-three undergraduate students at FTVS UK, who completed a challenging activity in the form of a height obstacle. At the beginning of the course, each person completed the NGSE questionnaire. State anxiety was assessed by using the CSAI-2 questionnaire, which participants completed twice. Once on the ground, before the activity, the second time at a height just before overcoming an obstacle. Results: A moderately strong relationship (p = 0,05) was demonstrated between self-efficacy and the cognitive dimension of anxiety r = -0,421 (p = 0,05) in height and between self-efficacy and the dimension of self-confidence r = 0,450 (p = 0,01 ), also in height. The female sample showed a relationship between self-efficacy and the cognitive dimension of anxiety r = -0,523 (p = 0,05) in height and between self-efficacy and the dimension of self-confidence r = 0,572 (p = 0,01), also in height. The male sample did not show any marked statistical significance between self-efficacy and anxiety dimensions. Conclusion: The relationship between self-efficacy...
Vestibular Function in Cochlear Implant Patients
Matějková, Michaela ; Čakrt, Ondřej (advisor) ; Koutná, Sára (referee)
Hearing loss is the most common sensory impairment. More than 5 % of the world's population suffers from disabling hearing loss, which affects approximately one third of people over the age of 65. In those cases where hearing aids are not a sufficient solution to these difficulties, cochlear implantation is the standard treatment. It replaces, at least in part, the function of the hair cells that are no longer able to stimulate the primary auditory neurons. However, there are concerns about the potential risk of impaired vestibular function and the development or worsening of non-vestibular problems such as tinnitus, vertigo and orofacial disorders. Aims: To provide a theoretical summary of fundamental information on the vestibular system and cochlear implantation and to assess vestibular and non-vestibular function after cochlear implantation and the impact of any abnormalities on patients' quality of life. Methods: All of the participants underwent subjective visual vertical examination, platform posturography and completed five questionnaires - Dizziness Handicap Inventory, Tinnitus Handicap Inventory, Facial Disability Index, Beck's Anxiety Inventory and Beck's Depression Inventory. Overall and partial results from platform posturography examinations were compared with a control group of...
