One topic, two responses? Jews and Shoah in Czechoslovakian and Austrian cultural memory in the context of the Eichmann-trial

The thesis follows up the subject of Jews and Shoah in Czechoslovakia and Austria and their representation at the beginning of the 60s. By this time, the Eichmann-trial took place in Jerusalem. Finding out, how and how much did the trial influence the presentation of Jews and Jewish victims in cultural memories or rather policy of past of both societies in comparison is aim of the thesis. On this basis, it is possible to reveal both differences and similarities between the two societies. Even if they seem to be completely different because of being sepparated by the Iron Curtain. The thesis devides into two parts. First part deals with the situation in post-war Czechoslovakia and Austria till the beginning of the 60s. It shows, how were the societies "set" when the Eichmann-trial came - what were the "prejudices", what was the policy of past dealing with. Second part includes the analysis of press-articles taken from different Austrian and Czechoslovakian newspaper and magazines (daily, weekly and monthly). From general to concrete is the way of the analysis which enables to show as the wider frame of the reaction as answers to the concrete questions. Outcomes are evaluated as continuously, as in the final conclusion.
JEWISH HEROINES IN ARNOŠT LUSTIG'S WORK

The Main goal of this thesis is the comparison of fates of the Jewish heroes in the Second world war. I will compare five selected proses written by Arnost Lustig. My focus will be on the fates of the Jewish women during the second world war and how this extreme experience affected their characters and moral believes. The source of the thesis will be the listed primary literature, which was selected to show the uniqueness and individuality of so strong experience, which the second world war and holocaust definitely was. Concurrently, it demonstrates the fact that under influence of their shared fate, are the heroes of the stories in many ways very similar. I will also focus on the questions regarding the dignity and morality and how the Jewish woman deals with their lost of personal and life assurances.
Jewish Trilogy in Arnošt Lustig's Work

This bachelor thesis deals with three proses by Arnošt Lustig forming the Jewish Trilogy: Lea from Leeuwarden, Colette, the girl from Antwerp and Tanga from Hamburg. Lustig's characters are presented and their basic typology is determined. The focus is then moved to the female characters of the Jewish Trilogy. The thesis follows their development, characteristics and position among other author's female protagonists. In each story, development of basic narrative categories (the narrator, characters, time and space), recurring themes and use of language and style are discussed. The conclusion focuses on the mutual comparison of the books, and it also deals with the theme of eroticism and sex in Lustig's work. More details are also provided on author's life because his work is closely related with it. The objective of this thesis was to get acquainted with the proposition of the service-oriented architecture and its real representation web services. To understand the principles of their functioning, creation, communication and the ways to finding and using them. To be specific, the goal of this project was to analyse a current program, design its transfer to the web service description language and to implement a web service interface layer upon this program. The system is demonstrating the basic principles of the web services and the function of the interface during the communication between its provider and customer.
The portrayal of post-war Germany in the novel District court by Ursula Krechel

This bachelor thesis deals with the novel District court (Landgericht) by the contemporary German writer Ursula Krechel, who introduces a life story of one German family in the period from the thirties to the seventies in the 20th century in this book. The fact, that the father has a Jewish origin fatally affects the fate of all the family members. Even though the story is a fiction, its historical background is real and supported by authentic material, which the author often cites. The first part of this bachelor thesis introduces the writer, analyses the title, time, places, style of narration, language and composition. It follows a summary of the story, a characterization of the main characters and an outline of their life stories. It deals then with the important themes in the novel - problems of the partnership, collapse of the family and loss of the identity. The result of this bachelor thesis is an analysis of this literary work, which answers the research question, how the postwar Germany is portrayed in the novel District court. The writer casts doubt on the post-war course of events in Germany. It starts with historiography of the topic, continues with history of the town and main topic is history of the Jewish community in historical eras. The second chapter deals with the places. The most famous is synagogue with the renovation. The special topic is story of Torah Scrolls from Písek. Described was also Pisek Jewish cemetery and rabbi house where settled Jewish community after world war II. The third chapter describes well-known people of Písek Jewish community. We can learn about biography of Israel Kohn, owner of paper factory Marek Spitz and poet Richard Weiner.
