Methodology of management of VFX projects in cinematic and commercial postproduction
Poštulka, Ondřej ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Chocholatý, Drahomír (referee)
Post-product studios which finalise the results of authorial audiovisual products are an important part of the media space. In this thesis, I am dealing with one of the phases of post-production film processing -- the methodology of management and optimization of VFX projects, by which I mean the utilization of computer graphics in the creation of special visual effects in film and advertising. In order to optimize VFX projects I designed a sample project based on a typical, VFX postproduction which became the basis for the comparison of the general principles of the project management and actual procedure used in practice with the quest to optimize the management of the project. The purpose of this thesis is to establish a project management methodology for a VFX project which consists of four subsequent steps. The first step is the division of a VFX project into phases. The second step is the identification of auxiliary computer programmes for each phase, followed by an analysis of the risks and the evaluation of the optimal procedure. The first part of this thesis is devoted to the general definition of computer graphics and their use in post-production. The second part focuses on the development of the management methodology of VFX projects by testing it on a sample project.
Software based on the creation of graphics products
Bubeníček, Jan ; Krsek, Libor (advisor) ; Horný, Stanislav (referee)
The objective of the thesis is to chart the overview and functionality of the software programs needed for the creation of comprehensive graphics work. The thesis should not only delimit individual areas of computer graphics and describe the related software. The main benefit should be the comprehensive definition of the most important operations of the DTP process during the creation of a commercial graphics job. These individual parts of the creative process will serve as the focus for the demonstration of problematic points and errors that the graphic designer can make, and the ways of avoiding them. The last part of the thesis illustrates the utilization of graphics programs for the realization of specific orders.

Advanced digital illustration and its purpose in commercial sphere
Phung, Nghia ; Krsek, Libor (advisor) ; Horný, Stanislav (referee)
The purpose of this bachelor's thesis is definiton of Advanced Digital Illustration as a standalone discipline of digitlac graphic arts, separated from vector graphics and photographic retouching/montage. The thesis is made of 3 parts. The first theoretical part contains an introduction do Digital Illustration along with the history of the discipline. Precise borders will be also set to divide ADI from other digital art fields, in which is ADI often subsumed. Next, I will be introducing software and hardware commonly used for PDI. Lastly, an introduction of basic ADI styles, used the most for commerce, will be included. The second part of the thesis is practical. The main chunk is a complete walkthrough of a graphic project with a detailed description for each phase. The completed artwork is an example of graphic comission one can get in the field of ADI. Lastly, alternate tools and practices will be mentioned. The last part of the thesis will take a close look on utilization of ADI for commerce purposes. Specific fields will be defined, in which ADI is commonly used, with examples of existing projects. Expected future development of ADI will be mentioned along with new potentional market fields, in which ADI could find its utilization. Lastly, common problems and obstacles during the process of accepting, completing and selling the graphic project will be described.
THE USE OF PROMOTIONAL GRAPHICS IN PRACTICE
CHARVÁTOVÁ, Jana
The master thesis consists of two parts. In the theoretical part, applied and computer graphics, fonts, and promotion are discussed. The practical part is aimed at applied graphics based on the graphic art extended by mixed media. Matrices made of zinc-galvanized sheets were etched in nitric acid. A set of graphic works was printed on watercolour papers. Individual graphics were placed at a promotional brochure of the company Printing House David. The brochure promotes the printing house equipment. When prepared the brochure, the software CorelDraw was used. Photos taken on the Printing House David and edited with the use of Adobe Photoshop software package are thematically focused on "printing machines" of the company. The photos are attached to the thesis in a form of sketches.

Managing projects of a feature film and commercial postproduction
Dvořák, Petr ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Pour, Jan (referee)
This thesis is focused on digital image postproduction -- specific field, which is responsible for digital creation and manipulation with image data of a feature film or a commercial. To achieve that, it uses large amount of human resources and the newest computer technology. The aim of this thesis was to review actual situation in film production from the informatics point of view. That comprises of explanation of field specifics, identification of information system in a typical postproduction house and finding ways how to effeciently manage postproduction projects through that. Thesis is designed as a complex practical guide, which is well understandable both to inexperienced people and proffesionals and delivers them useful information. It can be used by existing employees of a postproduction house (primarily managers and heads), freelancers or prospective future employees. This thesis highlights importanant aspects of postproduction, connected risks and helps people's to better orientate in this field. Outputs are numerous table summaries, recommendations, tips and hints and examples of possible solutions of actual postproduction problems. They are based on many internet sources and my own previous experience as a 3d graphic.
Testing of raster to vector graphics conversion software products
Mináriková, Monika ; Šedivá, Zuzana (advisor) ; Kunstová, Renáta (referee)
This work is mainly focused on testing of software for conversion between raster and vector graphics. It is divided into two parts. In methodological part there are stated the ways of storing image data in the computer. It explains the differences among basic types of computer graphics, raster and vector, and characterizes their well-known formats. Practical part deals with testing and comparing selected SW supporting the process of tracing. Based on the results, general conclusions about the possibilities, which offer this way of automatic vectorization, are determined. For evaluating and comparing the SW multi-criteria evaluation based on a five-point scale is chosen. The parameters of the evaluation are then divided into two categories: the evaluation of the SW and the outputs from the tracing process. Four types of graphics are chosen for the tracing: a simple black-and-white logo, a full-color logo, a line drawing, and a photograph with a simple motif. The conclusion of the thesis summarizes and evaluates all the results.
