Behavior of the Czech users on the Internet

Effective reading of classical and digital documents

The objective of this thesis is to clarify the term efective reading and what belongs to this topic, also to explore how the meaning of this term changes in the field of the electronic documents. This work also examines the reader's options of working with text and his view in this matter. Eye movements are analysed in first chapter. The term efective reading and its related concepts are analysed in chapter two. Third chapter is dealing with efective screen reading and characteristics of electronic texts. The possibilities of user work with texts on e- book readers and software e-book readers are examined in fourth chapter. Fifth chapter assesses online e-book readers. Questionnaire survey concerning reading of electronic documents is evaluated in chapter six.
Academic libraries of public universities in the Czech Republic and their services aimed for foreign students : analysis of current state

(in English) The aim of master thesis was to describe and asses current state of services offered by libraries of public (i.e. non-private) universities in the Czech Republic to foreign students. The first chapter briefly characterizes university libraries in the Czech Republic and aims at legislative framework, financing, institutional background, users, offered services and information sources typical for university libraries. The second chapter deals with foreign students at universities in the Czech Republic. It presents an overview of works which dealt with the theme of foreign students in the Czech Republic until now, informs about which public universities in the Czech Republic are preferred by foreign students and which countries these students come from. The third chapter presents the principal part of the work. It contains the report on the survey carried out in public university libraries in the Czech Republic to which a questionnaire was sent focusing on services offered to foreign students. The Place of the Library within the Organisational Framework of Universities in the Czech Republic and USA: A Comparison Study

The aim of this master thesis was to describe and asses the place of the library within the organizational framework of universities in the Czech Republic and USA. Aim of this thesis is to describe and evaluate the current position of library in organizational structure of colleges and universities in the Czech Republic and USA. First chapter sums up the current situation. For Czech universities in public school sector the corresponding elementary data, relevant legislative scope and position in organizational structure of public universities are emphasized and presented. For US universities the current status is presented with a particular example of five public universities. Second chapter is about current trends in evolution of university libraries in Czech Republic and USA with an emphasis on position in university or college structure. Third chapter is the essential part of the thesis. It contains report about survey performed with representatives of Czech public universities and representatives of given libraries. Last chapter presents parallel research done in USA.
Survey of Old Prints and Manuscripts Collections in Faculty Libraries of Charles University in Prague

(in English): This study focuses on the faculty libraries of the Charles University in Prague. More precisely, it deals with their collections of manuscripts, old and rare books. The introductory chapters are dedicated to theoretical basis of protection and preservation of historical documents. The main body of the thesis is created by an analysis of historical collections in particular libraries. This analysis is based on a questionnaire survey, on study of sources and on a research carried out during an actual visit to these libraries. Each chapter includes a brief history of the faculty library, the origin of the collection, and other important features such as the size of the collection, its thematic focus and especially the details of the way it is stored and available to readers. Another important focus of this study is to express the needs, the aims and experience of these faculty libraries. A more detailed study is dedicated to the library of The Protestant Theological Faculty. It includes a report about my research into the actual physical condition of the collection. Customer Analysis by Artificial Intelligence Methods

This thesis is focused on learning center customer satisfaction. The object of research is surveys filled by courses' participants. Artificial intelligence methods are used for data processing. The courses' quality measurement is achieved by fuzzy logic. Customer clustering is achieved by neural networks. At the end of document is data evaluation and proposals for economics effectives increase.
Social Networking for Questionnaire Survays

The aim of this work is to design and implement an application using an experimental library CloudKit. This application will serve as a social network for community submitters and questionnaire surveys respondents. Implemented social network is tested on a group of users who are involved in running the network. The benefit of this work is to test the Library CloudKit and its relevance for social networks.
Callcentrum System Management in a chosen Firm

This thesis deals with operational management of an inbound call center and planning necessary work capacities. Company BEZREKLAMKY Ltd. established its own inbound call center, as a reaction to the dissatisfaction with the services of an external service provider and it is necessary to properly optimize operational capacities and human resources necessary to serve 5 to 7 thousand customer callers per month. Practical part of the thesis - planning of the workforce capacity, scheduling the shifts and planning the opening hours of the inbound call center - works with a rather extensive theoretical platform, which brings new views of operations management inbound call centre and also works with the internal and external surveys related to the functionality of newly established inbound call centre. Conclusions made on the basis of the theoretical part were applied directly to the planning and operational management of the inbound customer call centre. This thesis helped applied over 25 conclusions for the studied inbound call centers. The goals, which the company set out to fulfill, while planning the new department, are then partly validated via models of system dynamics and in the last section of the thesis reflects on the extent to which these goals are feasible.
Healthy life years indicator

Object of this work was to make the analysis of healthy life years indicator. First, the work is devoted on clarifying the term healthy life years, it is focussed on indicators of life expectancy of the medical conditions, and collecting data from surveys. From which is possible to get data to calculate indicators. There is a particular attention on harmonized surveys in European Union. Work demonstrates methods of calculation and availability of already calculated data. Work continues with analysis of the trend of healthy life expectancy in the Czech Republic by gender and then compares the healthy life years to life expectancy. The work also observes the trend of growth rate of a healthy life years in the Czech Republic for the period between 2005 to 2009. A part of work is focused on the aging population of the Czech Republic. The work also includes the development of selected characteristics of aging such as aging index, the elderly dependency ratio and shares of biological generations on the total population of Czech Republic. Finaly, the work is focused on healthy life years in the European Union. The work shows the basic official English-Czech terminology, describes the European organizations focused on the development of healthy life years indicator and at the end the work compares healthy life years with life expectancy in the EU Member States.
