Soviet-American relations between détente and the Polish crisis (1977-1981)
Jahoda, Martin ; Kovář, Martin (referee) ; Horčička, Václav (advisor)
This study engage in Soviet - American relations during the Carter's presidency and the first year of Reagan's period. The object of this study was to find reasons and subsequences of events of that time. The autor engage in the Carter's policy of human rights, the normalization of US - Chinese relations, the second round of Strategic arms limitation talks (SALT II), Soviet - American rivalry in the Third world, the problems of intermediate nuclear forces, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan and the Polish crisis. The autor reach the conclusion, that so-called the second cold war began already during the Carter's presidency and that Jimmy Carter wasn't as weak leader as some authors write. Other conlusion is, for example, that the Soviet Union wasn't able to carry out the invasion of Poland, because SSSR of that time was already too weak to fight simultaneously in Afghanistan and Poland.

Stroukalová, Marika ; Houfková, Lucia (advisor) ; Zichová, Jitka (referee)
Title: Backtesting of Time Series Models Author: Marika Stroukalová Department: Department of Probability and Mathematical Statistics Supervisor: Mgr. Lucia Jarešová Supervisor's e-mail address: lucia.jaresova@centrum.cz Abstract: In the present work we study the basic models of financial time series (ARMA, GARCH), we focus on parameter estimation and forecasting in estimated models. We describe the means of estimating parametres and future values in the program R. In the theoretical section we also discuss the features of financial time series, define simple returns and log returns and we introduce the benefits of the log returns. We also apply the white noise model, ARMA(1,1) and GARCH(1,1) on historic time series of logarithmic returns of chosen stock exchange indices, we also backtest 1-step ahead fore- cats and 5-step ahead forecasts and we compare the results of these models. By empirical comparison of real data we also analyze how the models reac- ted on the present financial crisis and evaluate how the normal distribution assumption for the data held up. Keywords: time series, ARMA, GARCH, backtesting. 1

Wisconsion card sorting test. Screening of performance in Czech population
Kawaciuková, Radka ; Šípek, Jiří (referee) ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee)
Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) has been published as a measure of flexibility of thinking. Soon, it became a popular neuropsychological tool sensitive to brain damage, especially frontallobes. Arising from the knowledge of relationship between frontal lobes and executive functions, WCST is also called an executive task. Various versions of the test have been developed. Heaton' s standardization is in the focus of this thesis because it is the most often used version. Wisconsin Card Sorting Test is supposed to be the most common executive measure in neuropsychological research. The test output gives us 16 various scores, which reflect different cognitive processes. Each score has been provided with normative data on American population. However, clinically the most valid scores are scores of perseveration: perseverative responses and perseverative errors. There is certain evidence of impaired performance in patients with frontal lobe damage, especially left-side. Additionally, assumptions arising from physiological studies on healthy people or patients with various types of neurological illnesses suggest WCST to be sensitive not only to impairment of prefrontal cortex but also to the impairment of prefrontalsubcortical circ.uit including thalamus and basal ganglia or the prefrnntalsu bt:orli ca 1 t:l...

Růžičková, Michaela ; Matoušková, Petra (advisor) ; Zemanová, Lucie (referee)
Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Biochemical Sciences Candidate: Michaela Růžičková Supervisor: Ing. Petra Matoušková, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: Reference gene selection for mRNA quantification in Haemonchus contortus Haemonchus contortus is a parasitic nematode, whose multiresistance to ant- helmintics means global problem, threatening mostly small ruminants farming. Genom and transcriptom have been published in 2013, allowing gene expression studies to be conducted. Reference genes for this studies have not been validated yet. Use of suitable reference genes is essential for accurate normalization of gene expression levels. Aim of this work was to identify and validate potential reference genes for gene expression studies in H. contortus adults. Eleven genes were chosen, stability of their expression was assessed in males and females of two H. contortus strains, one drug-susceptible (ISE) and one multi-drug-resistant (WR). Total RNA was extracted and reverse trancribed to cDNA. cDNA was diluted and analyzed using quantitative real-time PCR with SYBR Green I detection. Expression stability was evaluated by computer programs BestKeeper, geNorm, NormFinder and the comparative CT method. Ncbp, ama, sodc, gapdh and farb were found to be most stable...

Determination of paid hunting value for huntable game
Chrbját, Filip
There is no common-law regulation providing a method for game evaluation in the Czech Republic. The value of the catch fee is part of the damage to the hunting of farmed animals. Loss of use fee hunting can be characterized as loss of profit (lucrum cessans), a property benefit that would otherwise damaged probably reached, if there was no damage. For the purpose of the design methodology for the valuation of live and killed the game of catch value fee determined according to the normal price, based on the currently valid price list of charges catch, especially the price list of Forest of the Czech Republic, s.p., Military and forests and farms Czech Republic, s.p. A price reflects the usual price in the usual place and can be quite variable. Therefore it is not the purpose of determining the value of the catch of fees for different species of huntable game as constant prices, but prices based on local conditions at the time of valuation.

Image transformation of czechoslovakian pilots in selected czech films
Janů, Adéla ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Suk, Pavel (referee)
This thesis analyses image of Czechoslovakian pilots in local film production. It focuses on films about pilots from Second World War and pilots from Czechoslovak people's army. The aim of thesis is to define main characteristics of military pilots in selected films and compare their transformation through time. Analytic part will use visual, semiotic, discursive and narrative analysis concept as theoretical framework. Thesis works on the presumption that image transformation was highly influenced by historical and political development of country. It assumes that pilots from Second World War were portrayed positively in late 1960s and after year 1989 and pilots from Czechoslovak people's army were favored in era of normalization, particularly in 1970s and 1980s.

Micro-plastic limit of low-carbon steel CSN 41 1375 as determined by the measurement of electrical impedance
Gajdoš, Lubomír ; Šperl, Martin ; Kaiser, J. ; Mentl, V.
It is generally accepted that not all cyclic stresses below the fatigue limit are non-damaging. Particularly in spectrum loading, the inclusion of some cyclic stresses below the fatigue limi can reduce the fatigue life of a component. It is believed that the boundary between damaging and non-damaging stresses is the so-called micro-plastic limit (MPL) defined as a macro-stress at which dislocation pile-up stresses begin to obstruct the magnetic domains in rotation to the direction of the tensile stress. This paper shows that MPL can be determined from changes in magnetic permeability during tensile loading. In our work, changes in magnetic permeability were measured indirectly - by measuring changes in electrical impedance (a.c. resistence and induktance). Measurements were performed on normalized low-C steel CSN 411375, and the microplastic limit was determined by evaluating

Study of Electrophysiological Function of the Heart in Experimental Cardiology

Title: Semi-infinite programming: theory and portfolio efficiency application Author: Bc. Lukáš Klouda Department: Department of Probability and Mathematical Statistics Supervisor: RNDr. Ing. Miloš Kopa, PhD. Supervisor's e-mail address: kopa@karlin.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: The thesis deals with application of semi-infinite programming to a portfolio efficiency testing. The summary of semi-infinite programming, first and second order optimality conditions and duality in linear semi-infinite programming is presented. The optimization problem for a portfolio efficiency testing with respect to the second order stochastic dominance under assumption of discrete, normal, Students and general elliptical distribution is formulated. Conditional value at risk(CVaR) is used as the risk measure, because of its consistency with the second order stochastic dominance relation. Efficiency of index PX with respect to the second order stochastic dominance is tested. The tests are performed using the program GAMS.
