802.1X Based Wireless Network Security Audit
Antal, Lukáš ; Samek, Jan (referee) ; Drozd, Michal (advisor)
This term project analyzes the security of 802.1X based wireless networks and presents the methodology for auditing these networks. The thesis describes various methods of the EAP authentication protocol used in wireless networks, security risks arising from their usage and recommendations for mitigating these risks. The paper also includes implementation of applications for 802.1X based wireless network audit focusing on the EAP protocol processing.
Wireless Network Security of Internet Service Provider
Parolek, Pavel ; Horák, Lukáš (referee) ; Ondrák, Viktor (advisor)
This thesis analyzes the wireless network security of the Internet service provider company Net-Connect s.r.o. It identifies its weak points and suggests measures that lead to the increase of the wireless network security.
Analysis of security and authentication of wireless networks
Kulíř, Tomáš ; Jeřábek, Jan (referee) ; Szőcs, Juraj (advisor)
This master's thesis deals with wireless networks, mainly about the WiFi. It deals with summary of individual security mechanism both theoretically and using them in real hardware. Mainly it is interested in the security of the individual mechanisms and their weaknesses, which cause rupture of security. At each chapter the ideas and methods, that the attackers are trying for infiltration of wireless networks and decrypt encryption WEP, WPA or WPA2, are outlined. The principle of the authentication of the WiFi by the authentication server and its options, which is connected with directory service LDAP, is also explained in this thesis. The penultimate chapter deals with the summary of security mechanisms and references that should be adhered by design of the WiFi for the provision of the high security. The ending of the master's thesis is devoted to social engineering and its most famous representatives.
Security of wireless computer networks
Jelínek, Martin ; Pelka, Tomáš (referee) ; Doležel, Radek (advisor)
The master's thesis deals with the issue of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) from the viewpoint of the security and functional principle of security mechanisms. The transition to the issue concerning the security is accompanied by the methods of wireless data transmission operating on the level of physical layer (FHSS, DSSS, OFDM, MIMO), which is followed by the summary of individual 802.11 standards. The next part deals with the issue of shared transmission medium (CSMA/CA), influence of interference and correcting mechanisms (RTS/CTS). Within the security, the principles of the authentication along with the commonly used methods of security (WEP, WPA, WPA2) are described in detail. The first part concerning security deals with the security in the form of the WEP protocol, which is considered insufficient nowadays and points out the imperfect implementation and the consequent risks. The following part describes the security in the form of WPA which eliminates the implementation weaknesses of the previous WEP security protocol. The description of commonly used mechanisms of authentication (PSK, 802.1x), required temporary key management (PTK, GTK), data integrity (MIC) and encryption which uses TKIP protocol are also included. The last part, possible WLAN security, is aimed at the full support of 802.11i standard, which is called WPA2 (sometimes RSN). That part describes the basic encryption security element CCMP, which is based on the AES block cipher modes. The practical part of the thesis deals with the security verification of current wireless networks. In the process of verification the accessible HW means and programming tools of Open Source Software (OSS) are used. By means of verification it has been pointed out that there are possible security risks resulting from the security method which has been used. Also several recommendations how to reduce the security risks of the used method to minimum are mentioned.
Software support of teaching of cryptography protocols
Marek, Tomáš ; Lambertová, Petra (referee) ; Burda, Karel (advisor)
Document contains informations about authentication, encryption, data integrity and data authenticity. Next part includes description of well know cryptography protocols, their functions and also their weaknesses. All of these acquired informations were used in concept and final software support for teaching of cryptography protocols, which is able to run on clasic web-browser. Thats why the application was designed as web PHP pages using JavaScript and AJAX, which ensures plaform and OS architecture independency. Besides the descripted and ilustrated part of application there are also interactive parts and animations. The last period contains description of education software and its functions. Source code can be found on the appended CD.
Security of wireless computer networks IEEE 802.11
Škodák, Jaroslav ; Jeřábek, Jan (referee) ; Koutný, Martin (advisor)
This work describes available and used standards, protocols and mechanisms used to secure IEEE 802.11 wireless networks. In the next section are listed vulnerabilities and possible attacks against different types of security. The principles of individual attacks on authentication, WEP security and WPA/WPA2 personal mode are described and realized using various software especially linux program aircrack-ng. Password for WEP security is obtained by passive eavesdropping data, using ARP replay injection and by creating own frames. The last two methods are used to generate traffic on the network, which is captured and then used to derive the WEP password. By injecting ARP frames, password was found in the number 60 000 captured frames and about 180 000 frames of data was needed for passive method. Decryption of WEP frame was done by fragment and KoreK chopchop attacks. This decrypted frame could be used to create fake frames and obtain WEP password. Brute force attack is realized for security WPA (WPA2) personal mode (often due to lack of strong password) by comparing password (passphrase) from password list. Speed of comparing is about 200 passwords/s.
Autentizace síťových portů pomocí protokolu 802.1X ve firemním prostředí
Malinka, Tomáš
This thesis describes the draft and implementation of a new security with 802.1x in the corporate environment. The work is divided into two parts. The first part outlines the topic theoretically and the second part solves specific draft using 802.1x and its implementation in the corporate environment. The implementation is outlined with configuration of end clients, switches including RADIUS server and settings in AD. During the implementation, there is also described the authentication of devices by Mac Authentication Bypass.
Network access control
Kalina, Tomáš ; Pavlíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Knapovský, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor's work discusses IT issues of network access control. The first part deals with the theoretical background of network access control. There are explained various ways of authenticating and authorization users. Thanks these function, it is possible to prevent unauthorized persons access to computer networks. Knowledge of these technologies is essential for understanding the next part of the work. The remaining part of the work is concerned with recommendations and draft network access control for various model situations, especially for the college of University of Economics, Prague. Specific examples are given for network infrastructure based on device of the 3com company.
