Vu, Daniel ; Černá, Iveta (advisor) ; Bolotov, Ilya (referee)
The thesis deals with the development of international trade in rice and focuses mainly on the period 2006 until 2011. I concentrated on the major exporters of rice -- China, India, Thailand, Vietnam and the U.S., the major importers -- Indonesia and the EU. In the context of these countries I analyzed the effects of government trade policies on the form of international trade in rice. My goal was to combine both these elements in coherence, because they are an inseparable part. In the first chapter, I first defined types of rice, then I explained the Standard Model theory of trade and trade policies for the export and import countries. In the second chapter, I gave an overview of the production and trade in rice. In next chapter I dealt with the trade policies of the above mentioned states. In the last chapter, I finally connected the impact of trade policies on foreign trade of selected countries.

India: poverty as an obstacle to further development
Lauberová, Petra ; Steinmetzová, Dana (advisor) ; Pavlík, Petr (referee)
The bachelor thesis examines a relationship between the growth of Indian economy, reducing of poverty in the country and the need to raise the capacity and quality of the local educational system. The Republic of India currently occupies second position in the ranking of the fastest growing economies in the world. Its economic success is largely controlled by the output of the tertiary sector, which is difficult for a qualified workforce. Unfortunately, finding qualified workers in India to fill positions that are in demand is very challenging. The demand for education grows only with raising of the incomes of the population and therefore poverty becomes an obstacle to further development in the country. The first chapter of the thesis defines the concept of poverty in general, provides different ways how to measure it and represents some global concepts and strategies for combating it. The second chapter describes the evolution of the Indian economy since independence to the present and focuses on areas which have caused its upsurge. The chapter also examines how current crisis has influenced these areas and provides some characteristics and facts about poverty in India. The final chapter evaluates the Indian educational system, pointing out its weaknesses and outlines the solutions that would enable its access to the wider sections of the population and improvement of its quality.
