Democratization in Guatemala 1985-1999
Beňová, Monika ; Novák, Miroslav (advisor) ; Mlejnek, Josef (referee)
Guatemala, the most populous and potencially the richest country in Central America happened from geopolitical reasons to be the center stage for the cold war battles in the region. After a brief ten years of democracy after the World War II, long era of military regimes followed. From the 1960, leftist guerrila movement operated in the country with the purpose of throwing over the incumbent governments. Given the length of the contest, officially called the internal armed confrontation, that had spread accross decades, both military governments and insurgents were forced to adapt to changing international situation. At the beginning of the 1980s, the Army decided the war cannot be won unless the major cause of the gerilla fight is not eliminated. This cause being one of the most extremely unequal societies in the hemisphere, the reformist part of the brass challenged guatemalan traditional landed oligarchy as to make them give up a small fraction of their hefty income to finance development in the rest of the society. The oligarchy refused, causing this part of the Army to act on their own. Headed during the first phase by Gen. Rios Montt, young officers got rid of the existing old type of oligarchy-friendly cliqué and seized the power and government. With the prelude of very bloody contrainsurgent...

The proposal for a typology of protection the chosen and the most interesting cryogenic forms of relief in the Novohradské mountains
MARTANOVÁ, Michaela
The Novohradské mountains are with its preserved landscape very unique. Their large-scale protection is ensured by the proclamation of a nature park. Some territories are included in the system of Natura 2000 ? Special Areas of Conservation and a large part of the Novohradské mountains was proclaimed within the scope of the system of Natura 2000 Special Protection Area. A small-scale protection is oriented only to protect alive nature. Except alive nature there are in the Novohradské mountains also significant places with elements of lifeless nature, which would also deserve the proclamation of a small-scale especially protected territory. The aim of my work was to choose the most interesting location with elements of lifeless nature ? cryogenic mesoforms and to decide about their typology of protection. After surveying some localities I have selected Kraví hora for which I have prepared a plan of care for the natural monument ? a proposal to publication. This work icludes also a brief physical-geographical characteristics of the interesting territory and the appendices in the form of maps and photographic images.

Long-term hydroecological monitoring in the Krkonoše Mts
Tesař, Miroslav ; Šír, Miloslav
The cloud and fog water deposition proved to be important delivery mechanism for both water and pollutants in mountainous headwater regions. A fogwater study has been conducted in the Krkonoše Mts. since 1999 till the present time. The sampling site for the observation and evaluation occult precipitation in the Western region was established in the Modrý potok basin (1010–1554 m a.s.l., 2.62 km2) at the highest point of the watershed (passive cloud and fog water collector) while the bulk precipitation and throughfall samplers were installed near to the closure profile of the basin. Rain gauges are evenly situated at six altitudes of the watershed (from 1020 to 1365 m a. s. l.). In the Eastern region the both passive and active collectors were installed close to the Labská bouda chalet (1325 m a.s.l). The active collector (Eigenbrodt, Germany) is operated automatically by the PWD-11 sensor (Vaisala, Finland). Collected samples were stored in polyethylene bottles and transported as soon as possible to the laboratories of the Czech Geological Survey and Geological Institute of ASCR to the chemical analyses. The results for 1999–2011 will be presented in this article. A wide range of concentrations were encountered, most typically exceeding concentrations occurring in rain (so-called enrichment factors were evaluated) and the estimated wet deposition of the most important chemical compounds were calculated and compared with respect to weighted means of bulk precipitation collected in the open area. Based on the model predictions and on the water balance of the forest canopy the annual occult precipitation total for the Krkonoše Mts. was estimated by 20–25 % of the annual falling precipitation total. The research is supported by the Czech Science Foundation (205/09/1918).

Development of concept of ecological footprint
Vrbová, Anna ; Albrechtová, Jana (advisor) ; Lhotáková, Zuzana (referee)
The ecological footprint is an indicator that measures the size of the bioproductive land needed to provide resources and disposal of waste from existing technologies. It's an important sign of the sustainability of the population on Earth. As we are currently facing an impending lack of many natural resources, this is an important issue. The biomass we use is created by plants, which play a critical role not only in functioning of the ecosystems, but in the concept of the ecological footprint.Individual types of vegetation differ in their relative contribution the overall ecosystems production and consequently to the calculation of the ecological footprint of various lands. For this reason this work is concerned not only with the concept of the ecological footprint, but also with the services that plants provide. The objective of this work is to compile the current information on the evolution of the concept of the ecological footprint, what preceded its creation, and to focus on the important role of plants in the functioning of ecosystems, allowing for the calculation of the ecological footprint. The evolution of the concept of the ecological footprint is covered in Chapter 1.Chapter 2 deals with ecosystem services, their rating, and the critical role that plants play in them. The calculation of the ecological...

Use of marketing mix in tourism for the region Český Krumlov
GUTWIRTHOVÁ, Renata
My bachelor thesis deals with {\clq}qUse of marketing mix in tourism for the region Český Krumlov``. First part consists of marketing theory, marketing mix {--} product, price, place, promotion and tourism. Second part is the analysis of marketing mix. I have decided to obtain informations about this region, because I was born in Český Krumlov. Also Infocentrum in Český Krumlov and Bohemia Properties a.s. are interested in the results of my bachelor. The region Český Krumlov is located in southern part of Bohemia. It's an area full of forests, streams and rivers, which are most popular in our country. Český Krumlov is from the perspective of tourism highly specific region with many sightseeing attractions and cultural events. The basic package would include accommodation and catering. Packages for couples with following themes: "Natural beauty of the region Český Krumlov" and "Architectural Treasures of the region Český Krumlov". In my opinion, this region offers numerous possibilities and options to create different products - packages such as: weekly holiday, weekends, school trips, stays for seniors, holidays for families with children, various thematic stays, etc. Prices of packages are set by season and category of accommodation. Whereas accommodation affects the total cost the most. The package includes accommodation with breakfast, transportation and guide services. It is also possible to use discount for early purchase. Means of transport can be different: bus, train, boat or car. Promotion of products is positive. I would recommend promoting packages to address travel agencies. In public relations I would suggest better cooperation with businessmen in the field of tourism in the region of Český Krumlov.

Media Discourse Analysis of rigt-wing weblog Altermedia.info
Bártová, Kateřina ; Jirků, Jan (advisor) ; Křeček, Jan (referee)
The thesis called Qualitative Analysis of Media Discourse of the Far-right Blog cz.altermedia.info deals with the discourse analysis of the Czech version of an international project Altermedia.info. Discourse analysis aims at differences between the discourse of the founding editor and the current one and analyses the neo-fascist nature of the blog. The theoretical framework of the analysis is based on the postmarxist theory of discourse introduced by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the findings of researchers who are engaged in discourse analysis (structuralism, poststructuralism, Michel Foucault, Louis Althusser, Norman Fairclough, Teun van Dijk). The thesis also examines how specific meaning is constructed within the nationalist discourse of Altermedia and to what extent a new team of authors contributed to the change of discourse. The analysis identifies the main nodal points, which are involved in the construction of discourse, and examines the antagonistic processes within the two different editors. Discursive analysis reveals particular inclination of the current discourse of Altermedia for the neo-Nazi ideology, and thus indicates the fundamental antagonism between the founding editors and current one.
