History of the transports Dl and Dm from Teresienstadt to Auschwitz
Strmisková, Sabina ; Míšková, Alena (advisor) ; Václavů, Lubor (referee)
The theme of this thesis is the history of two transports, transports Dl and Dm dispatched september 6 1943 from ghetto Terezín to Auschwitz. It is possible to find a lot of information in many publications, but this thesis introduces this subject throught testimonies of eyewitnesses. Starting with the family background, continuing with deportation to Theresienstadt from where the transports were dispatched. Concerning the transport to Auschwitz, I elaborated its characteristics looking at the age and sex of the transported inmates. Due to the witness's testimonies, I tried to concentrate on the history of two day's journey to the biggest extermination camp during the second world war. And the eyewitness's testimonies are illustrating all the welcoming ceremony, the desinfection, tattoo and dormitory allocation. In my thesis, I would like to describe the Terezin inmates' biannual stay in family camp B IIb, tragical death of 3 792 of them at night of 8 to 9 March 1944, seeking to recreate the Dr. Mengele's list of medical personnel and twins. Finally, I would like to emphasise the fate of 41 survivors of those transports.
The reflection of Jewishness in Prague in the German literature in the period of 1900-1920
Dvořáková, Lenka ; Weinberg, Manfred (advisor) ; Hadwiger, Julia Nina Vanessa (referee)
In 1849 were all ghettos in the Austrian Empire abolished which led to free movement and settlement of the Jews. This procuration started important economical, but more importantly social possibilities which were some of the reasons for Jewish emancipation. Before the year 1900 was determined the demolition (decontamination) of the Prague Jewish quarter, so called ghetto, which was perceived as one of the last symbols of the former unfree position of the Jews. The author of this thesis will examine novels from period 1900 1920 above all of Jewish, in German writing writers. The subject of the study will be whether and how did the people see ongoing existence of the ghetto, even though it was demolished, what kind of influence did this process have on Czech-German-Jewish relationship, how was looked upon the Jews by the majority society, how did the Jews see themselves, etc. The emphasis will be laid on the personal feelings and projection of the authors in the historical context. Assimilation of the Jews to the Czech and German population and the increasing Zionism will be taken into consider, but the examination of these processes is not the main focus of this thesis.

Excluded localities have become a very hot topic in the media and the media have been presenting excluded localities as problematic in terms of unemployment, poverty, maximum use of social welfare by their inhabitants, housing problems, crime, organized crime, disorder and problems with school attendance of the children.

Sukovská, Simona ; Kadeřábková, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Khendriche Trhlínová, Zuzana (referee)
I focus on the issue of ghettization of cities in the Czech Republic in my diploma thesis. Summary of the current state and methods of settling is the main point. In the theoretical part, I introduce the definition of ghettization, and furthermore, I describe the development of ghettos and the current state in the world and namely in the CR. In the practical part, I focus on the city Litvínov -- its settlement Janov, in which one of the biggest ghetto in the CR has formed in recent years. Ghettization is analyzed from the viewpoint of demography and social-economic composition. These statistics are supported with a summary of current models of solutions.
Microworld of guards and prisoners in Theresienstadt.
Dušková, Lucie ; Soběhart, Radek (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
The main task of this thesis is to explore the relationship between the prisoners and the guards at Theresienstadt. Given the complexity of the Therezin ghetto guards hierarchy -- and in order to aim at the very hub of this problematic question -- this paper will focus primarily on the gendarmes, who were in everyday contact with the prisoners. Were conditions of the forced occupants of the given ghetto so dramatic without any exceptions -- or -- was there at least anyone willing to help them? Why were some prisones being ill-treated and brutally murdered while others were being priviledged? The key role in the different living conditions of the "Forced communities" (as H. G. Adler often calls them) played the relationships between gendarmes and the prisoners -- that is why these two "social roles" are the dominant feature of this paper. The Holocaust witnesses evidence stored in the Jewish Museum in Prague and the published origins and the latest sources of literature were used as some of the primary sources.
