World's leading economic powers and their energy dependence

The main subject of this paper is the disparity between the regions of production and consumption of energy in the world resulting in energy dependence. In the first chapter, the author characterises existing energy resources and their allocation in the world, then defines the notion of energy dependence itself. In the following four chapters, the focus is made on the four world's leading economic powers -- European Union, United States, Japan and China. These chapters analyse the main features of energy production and consumption as well as the major oil, natural gas and coal trade flows to the treated economies. Using the data, the paper draws the rate of energy dependence or vulnerability of these economies.
The relations of the USA and China on the current and financial account of the balance of payments

The objective of this thesis is to analyse relations between the United States and China on the current and financial account of the balance of payments in the quantitative and the qualitative point of view and to evaluate the impact of mutual operations on the external equilibrium. The partial objective of the thesis is to create the entry analysis for assessment of the global imbalances of the current accounts. Current external imbalances and mutual trade and investment relations between the USA and China are the key factors of the global imbalances. The thesis is divided into two chapters. The first chapter is theoretical and it is divided into two component parts. The first part is dedicated to the definition of single components of the balance of payments (current, financial and capital account), to its determinants and to mutual relations. The balance of payments theory is based on IMF's methodology. In the second part of the first chapter are introduced the main approaches to the balance of payments, the income (keynesian, multiplier), price (elasticity) and monetary approach. The analysis of the relations in terms of balance of payments is presented in the second chapter. The current account relations are assessed in the first part of the second chapter with the focus on domestic savings, investment, processing trade and effect of the Chinese monetary policy on mutual relations. The second part of the thesis deals with financial account matters, especially with Chinese build-up of the foreign exchange, American federal debt and character of the investment that flows between the USA and China.
Real Convergence of Economies and their Disruption of Economic Crisis

The thesis analyzes the issues of convergence or divergence of the Czech economy and the economies of Germany, Greece and Germany's economy and economies of China and the United States of America. The analysis takes place in the context of the development of gross domestic product per capita adjusted by purchasing power parity and the percentage of government debt to gross domestic product over the last approximately 20 to 25 years and focuses on analyzing the impact of the global economic crisis of late 2007 on the convergence of economies. The analysis showed the impact of the economic crisis, all three groups surveyed economies. In the case of China to the United States it was strengthening the convergence. In cases the Czech Republic and Greece to Germany it was the change from convergence to divergence.
War on drugs in Mexico

This thesis concerns with the issue of war on drugs in Mexico. The paper analyses development of drug trafficking, reasons of its origin and the role of the United States. Also it observes drug policies of both states and their common programmes and operations. One of them is the Mérida Initiative, programme of financial assistance for Mexico to combat the drug trafficking. The aim of this thesis is also to present actual mexican drug production and drug cartels. The final part pays attention to few last years when the mexican war on drugs escalated and offers possible solutions of the situation.
The 2008 United States financial crisis - causes, progress and effects

Thesis deals with the 2008 United States financial crisis, its causes, progress and effects. The first chapter concentrates on the progress of financial crisis with emphasis on its originator -- subprime mortgage crisis. The next chapter deals with the analysis of the causes of financial crisis and its comparison with the causes of the Great Depression. The third chapter assesses the effects of the financial crisis on two industries (car and construction) and on the real growth of the economy.
Efficiency of financing health care

The bachelor's thesis focuses on the health care system in United States. It explains how the health care system works and how it is financed. Large attention is devoted to health insurance and various health insurance plans. Primary aim of this thesis is to determine whether is it possible to create an optimal health care system, in which people do not suffer from voluntary or involuntary lack of insurance.
Impacts of global financial crisis on the economies of USA, EU and Japan

United States, European Union and Japan are the most important centers of the world economy. Each of them took a different path of economic development, each has different strengths and weaknesses and faces a number of specific problems. These problems are multiplied especially in times of an economic crisis and subsequent recession. This work, divided into four chapters, aims to theoretically and practically analyze the main causes and stages of the financial crisis, with emphasis on its development in three major economies. The first chapter, which deals with the theory of financial crises, is followed by the second one, where theoretical knowledge is applied to the development and course of the global financial crisis and provides an overview of specific short-term measures that the economies had to take in order to fight it. The third chapter analyzes the impact of the crisis on the basic macroeconomic indicators of the analyzed centers and the fourth one summarizes lessons that the economist and state representatives should learn from this experience.
Transatlantic relations in the context of the Framework Agreement

This bachelor thesis covers the trade relations between the United States and European Union. It makes readers familiar with the Euro-Atlantic trade and with the volume of trade flows between the U.S. and the EU in various sectors. It describes the trade between the EU and the U.S. according to the multilateral agreements in the WTO as well as to the single bilateral agreements. It outlines the barriers to trade in selected examples of trade disputes and determines the tariff and non-tariff barriers in transatlantic relations. The last Framework Agreement between the U.S. and EU is described more in details and focuses on the progress which was made under the Framework.

The second chapter analyses factors that influenced the decision-making of the Chinese leadership concerning the cooperation with the United States. The third chapter uses examples to show the extent of the assistance rendered by China to the United States and in some instances deals with the American attitude thereto.
