Teacher Figures In The Works Of Twentieth Century German Writers
Stolařová, Petra ; Glosíková, Viera (advisor) ; Haupenthal, Thomas Maria (referee)
Name of the diploma thesis: Teacher Figures In The Works Of Twentieth Century German Writers Author: Petra Stolafova Diploma thesis tutor: PhDr. Viera Glosikova CSc. ABSTRACT The subject of my thesis was to compare characters of teachers in the works of three German authors from the twentieth century. For this I chose Heinrich Mann and his novel Professor Unrat, written at the start of the twentieth century, the narrative by Anna Seghers, Der Ausjlug der toten Maedchen, in which the author takes a look back at the period of Nazi Germany and fmally contemporary author, Markus Orths and his novel, Lehrerzimmer. My goal when starting this piece of work was to learn about the behaviour and attitude of teachers towards pupils in a variety of time periods during the twentieth century and to compare this with the methods and approaches used by tutors today. For the individual chapters, I began by dedicating biographies for the specific authors. I followed this by focusing on the content of their works and then fmally analysing the behaviour of the literary figures represented as teachers. I tried to establish whether or not their method of teaching or rather approach towards pupils concurred with the notions about how a teacher should appear nowadays. In the novel Professor Unrat, I came to the conclusion that the...

Students of the Unity of Brethern at the beginning of the 17th century or priests-to-be from the archive of Matouš Konečný
Růčková, Markéta ; Hojda, Zdeněk (referee) ; Ebelová, Ivana (advisor)
In the course of reconstruction works in the area of the former cloister Na Karmeli in Mladá Boleslav in August 2006 the builders found two wooden boxes. The boxes were buried under the backfilling material of the arch of the cloister's ground floor. They have preserved the so-called Archive of Matouš Konečný (1572-1622), one of the last bishops of the Unity of Brethren before the Battle of White Mountain in 1620. The unilateral correspondence dating back to the first two decades of the 17th century constitutes the main part of the excavated archival documents. The correspondence which was addressed to Matouš Konečný is composed partly of letters from students (or to be precise priests-to-be of the Unity of Brethren). These letters constitute the basis of the submitted diploma thesis. Firstly, the author offers the basic characteristic of the mentioned archival findings and resumes hitherto scholarship related to the theme. Then the main core of the thesis is focused on the education of priests-to-be in the Unity of Brethren. This education took place in Brethren houses and was provided by priests. The quality of the knowledge passed on the pupils depended on knowledge and experience of these priests. The organization of this type of education was regulated by the church's order. Despite the fact that the...

Polish poetry and its translators in Slovanský přehled from 1899 to 1930
Kramarzová, Barbara ; Pajak, Aleksandra (advisor) ; Kaleta, Petr (referee)

Thomas Brussig and the literature of the time of change ("Wendezeit")
V románu Helden wie l-Fir 2 Brussig tuto autorku podrobuje zdrcující kritice, a to kritice sice ne vždy zcela přímé, ale přesto naprosto jednoznačné.

Developing characters in Óe Kenzaburó's early fiction

(The) Story of/and Dramatization
Merenus, Aleš
The main aim of the study is to analyze two key concepts of literary theory, namely the notions story and dramatization of literary works. In the first part of the essay, the structuralist definitions of story introduced by Tzvetan Todorov, Seymour Chatman, and others are examined as well as its definition in the framework of the fictional worlds theory as presented by Lubomír Doležel and Bohumil Fořt. This part results in a new definition of story for the purpose of dramatization. The second part gives a survey of definitions of dramatization and introduces two new categories: the textual dramatization, which inheres only transformations on the linguistic level, and perfomative dramatization inhering also the process and the result of staging, during which one sign system is substituted by another one (a process which may be referred to as intersemiotic translation). Eventually, the process of dramatization is being observed as a transformation of particular elements of story (characters, space, events) and fictional world structures (extension and intension).

Göttlichová, Marcela ; Bořek - Dohalská, Marie (advisor) ; Veroňková, Jitka (referee) ; Bartošek, Jaroslav (referee)
v anglickém jazyce Abstract The theoretical part of the dissertation thesis dealing with the "Phonetics of Advertising in terms of Perception Assessment" studies literature sources focusing on spoken utterances, namely on language elements of various Czech pronunciation styles and characterizes both radio as a medium and basic principles of the theory and practical aspects of radio advertising. It outlines the grounds for description of phonetic aspects at both segmental and suprasegmental level. It provides basic features describing phonetic characteristics of the Czech language in light of its orthoepic standard. Based on the results of a quantitative survey and namely the perception tests, the goal of the paper is to show potential applicability of phonetics in marketing communications, specifically concerning the variability of the verbal part of commercials reflecting different products and target consumer groups, i.e. to show the potential the Czech language is offering at present and ways of making the most of this potential in radio advertising.
