Lifestyle image in the pages magazine Květy (1960-1968)

Thesis Lifestyle in magazine Květy (1960 - 1968) deals with the lifestyle in the years 1960 - 1968 in Czechoslovakia from the viewpoint magazíne Květy. The work examines how the magazine, presented lifestyle in the reference period and how they influenced the ideas of readers' lifestyles. Due to the great range of lifestyle related work has focused solely on housing, leisure and fashion. In the field of housing, work has concentrated on available housing, household furniture, decorations and articles of daily use. In the fashion most attention was focused on the clothing, hairstyles then in fashion and beauty treatments. Leisure time has been reduced to activities designed for relaxation, entertainment and distraction, prevailed in the area of recreation, sports activities and activities of various interest groups. Lifestyle in the analysis of the text was analyzed using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods of content analysis. Political satire in printed media in election year 2006 and 2010

This Thesis are dealing with analysis of political satire change during election periods in 2006 and 2010 in printed media (Právo, Lidové noviny and MF DNES). 1796 items were evaluated. In these media three artist in both years were publishing: in MF DNES it is Miroslav Kemel, in Lidové noviny Vladimír Jiránek and in Právo Vladimír Renčín. For political satire research content analysis was used, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. Defined variables are used for grouping images. The research should accept/reject five hypothesis directed to topic frequencies (domestic, foreign, non-political), politicans shown as the target of satire and political tending of particular paper. The most popular target for political satire was Jiří Paroubek former leader of ČSSD due to his nature and physiognomy. This was true for MF Dnes and Lidové noviny. In Právo no concrete politican was drawn by V. Renčín in both years. In the first place topic Election was in 2006 in all papers, in 2010 only for MF Dnes it was Nr 1. Criteria for selection of reports from the European Parliament in the Czech dailies

Master Thesis "Criteria for selection of news from the European Parliament into the Czech media" deals with the factors that affect the classification of reports about events in the European Parliament in the Czech print and online journals as well as defining characteristics that are typical for these reports. In the theoretical part presents political and media communication and logic and goes to the main concepts of news production, such as agenda setting, framing and priming. This Thesis is also about media and intermedia agenda and presents the information already known concerning the relationship between the European Union and the media. Research is a part of practical section. It's aim is to map by content analysis the characteristics typical for reporting about the European Parliament as a specific institution of the European Union. Further aim is the verification of assumptions based on previously conducted research abroad focusing on the theme of the EU. Czech EU Presidency seen through the eyes of the member and non-member country: Semioticanalysis of the czech and swiss printed media in the period of the Czech EU Presideney

The master thesis "Czech presidency through the eyes of the member and non- member country" considers with the confrontation of articles from the time period of the EU-Czech Presidency which were published in the Czech newspaper Hospodarske noviny a in the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung. The work concerns with that point how both newspapers constructed the reality of the Czech Republic during its EU-Presidency. The analysis will proceed through the framing method and semiotic analysis. From the framing analysis will result the quantitative data and in the semiotic analysis is included the critical discoursive analysis. The CDA will be discussed in the thesis. Media shows to the audience the secondary reality and they have impact to that what the people think about and what attitude they contain to which event. At this process participates the language. In the master thesis we would like to prove that the Swiss media Show another reality than the Czech one.
Czech press for people called up to forced labour in Nazi

The diploma thesis Czech Press for People Called up to Do Forced Labour in Nazi Germany deals with the weekly Czech Labourer which was sent to the Czech workers called up to German factories during the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia within the years 1939-1945. The thesis aims at exploring its origin, publishing and changes concerning its publishers and owners. It also analyses its distribution to Nazi Germany and its content in detail. Furthermore, by means of the quantitative analysis the thesis surveys the thematic agenda of the main articles on the front pages. It discusses the impact of the propagandistic information in media on those who were called up to do forced labour. Within the context, this paper examines the operation of media during the period of Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
Citizen photojournalism and videojournalism on Czech news websites

The master's thesis deals with the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism in the Czech media landscape. It focuses on the frequency of the amateur photographs and videos published on the selected news web sites and also on the gatekeeping process. This master's thesis also reflects the editor's opinions on the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism. The citizen journalism is usually viewed from the perspective of the citizen journalists, but this master's thesis brings the view from the second side, from the media professionals. The thesis uses the combination of the quantitative and qualitative methods. Firstly, there was conducted the quantitative content analysis. Secondly, there were interviewed the media professionals. The conclusions of the master's thesis indicate that the citizen photojournalism and the citizen videojournalism is rarely used on the Czech web sites. The media professionals evaluate this phenomenon positively, find its contributions to the news flow but only under the certain conditions. On the other hand, they do not find the citizen photojournalism and videojournalism absolutely necessary element for the news service.
Analysis of the political instrumentalization of the periodic press Mladá fronta DNES in the period before elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2013

The diploma thesis Analysis of the political instrumentalization of the periodic press Mladá fronta DNES in the period before elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2013 examines, if leader of the political party ANO Andrej Babiš used his position of the owner of the media group MAFRA to influence media content in the periodic press Mlada fronta DNES during the period before elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2013. Theoretical framework briefly describes the basic concepts of political communication and geopolitical division of the models of political communication including the Czech media scene. Focus is primarily on the development and possible ways of instrumentalization of printed media operating in the Czech media market after 1989. Results of quantitative research showed that four other political parties gained more media attention then political party ANO which ended up second in the election. The title pages of the Mlada fronta DNES therefore was not used to increase promotion of Andrej Babis and his political party. Periodicals in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm in the first half of 20th Century

Diploma thesis named Periodicals in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm in the 1st half of 20th century describes press developmental changes issued in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm. Firstly, thesis characterizes what kind of press has been issued in Frenštát, what was in its content, who was the target group and how the press reflected current issues. Thesis is divided into three historical parts according to global political issues and changes in press trends. Mentioned three parts are the periods between 1900 -1918, 1918 - 1945, 1945 - 1950, when the press trends had been changing step by step from popularity of the local press and magazines expansion, towards political press and establishing of company magazine. All this changes are reflected on the background of town and global history. The reader is in introduction briefly acquainted with the town history, its cultural wealth, famous persons, development of the local clubs and industry. Secondly follows the main part of the thesis, where is in detail described particular types of newspapers in mentioned time periods. Part of the thesis is quantitative content analysis of two chosen newspapers with aim to determinate, what were the topics, in what range, who was the target group and what type of news was dominating: local, nationwide or global.
I know why I vote: Analysis of media campaign

This thesis contains analysis of a media campaign I know why I vote (Vím, proč volím) which took place in 2013 and 2014. Aim of this thesis is to define tools that were used when running a media campaign, evaluate its effectiveness, and provide suggestions for further improvements. The theoretical part defines environment of a non-profit organization and specifics of its marketing and public relations strategies. The practical part analyses the campaign I know why I vote (Vím, proč volím) in accordance with used marketing, and public relations tools. It analyses press release, and by using quantitative content analysis it defines media image of the campaign. In this part, possibilities for increasing efficiency of the campaign are also suggested.
Roles of women and men in Czech and Italian advertisement

This study provides basic comparison of different tasks given to men and women in advertisements published in Czech and Italian periodicals. The different roles dedicated to male and female models, different style of presentation related to promoted products and different way of utilization of sexual phenomena are analyzed. First - theoretical part of this study contains main definitions and terms allowing the right understanding of common terms, specific for this research. Description of research procedures and statistical evaluation of obtained results is described in the second part of this study. The method of quantitative content analyses was mainly used to evaluate specific utilization of men and woman in advert industry of both countries. Obtained results provide updated survey of gender stereotypes used currently in Czech and Italian advertisements.
