Regional political parties and the European Union: Case study of Spain Abstract The diploma thesis "Regional political parties and the European Union: Case study of Spain" focuses on the area of the regional parties on the stage of the European Parliament, a subject which has not been analysed thoroughly in the past. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of this phenomenon on the case of the Spanish historical regions (Catalonia, Basque Country, Galicia) which are a recognizable proof of the remarkable institutional strengthening in the framework of a regionalized unitary state. The methodology of triangulation was used for the analysis of this issue as the data of the diverse type (i.e. electoral results, party's material etc.) have been put together through different methods (as a qualitative and quantitative content analysis, deductive and comparative approaches) with the aim to reveal the complete character of the issue and to reach the objective results as possible. The study focuses on the analysis of the regional parties on the European level through their cooperation in the European federations of the political parties as well as the framework of the political groups in the European Parliament. Spain as a tourist destination

This Bachelor's Thesis deals with tourism in Spain. The topic is quite broad so the main aim of the thesis is to evaluate tourism in two significantly different regions - Andalusia and Basque Country. The first chapter defines terms related to tourism that are essential to coherently understand this thesis. For example, this part defines the term tourism and its typology. The second chapter focuses on tourism in all of Spain. In particular, Spain is described in terms of history and how tourism is evaluated. In addition, Spain's most attractive places are presented. The second to last, and final chapter are similar in structure in order to perform a comparison of the chapters. The first part of both chapters describes the regions. Then, tourism is evaluated by using statistics from incoming tourists. Finally, SWOT analysis is used to comprehensively evaluate the previously mentioned information.
Specific Aspects of the Basque Economy

The thesis focuses on specific economic aspects of the Basque Country, one of the 17 autonomous regions of Spain. Macroeconomic data characterizing the Basque Country are mentioned at the beginning. They form the basis for the evaluation of the Basque position within Spanish economy and comparison with other regions. The main objective is to find the reasons why the Basque Country became one of the most economically successful regions. The conclusion outlines the historical context of Basque separatism and possible solutions of future political situation.

Next chapter concerns current economic situation, its development, economic sectors and international trade which is crucial for its economy. The last part analyses the economic relations between the Basque Country and the Czech Republic.

The final section of the work depicts the Basque region as tourist destination for Czech travel agencies.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyze cultural particularities and aspects of business negotiations in the Basque country. The thesis is divided into four main chapters. The first chapter introduce the Basque country from the geographical, historical and political point of view. The second chapter talks about the Basque economic situation. The third chapter analyze cultural particularities of the Basque country and points out the ancient Basque customs and traditions. The last chapter concentrates on the business customs and the mentality of Basque people that influences the business negotiations with the Basque business partners.

The work deals with specialities of business in Basque Country, describes basque culture, economy, foreign trade and chances of extending comercial cooperation with Czech Republic. The work was analyzed based on information from Statistical Offices, official bulletins of Basque Government and articles. The content is divided into five chapters. First four chapters are processed with the help of PEST analysis (business, economic, social and technologic environment)and the fift chapter is result of survey and describes basque business environmnet through the eyes of czech traders.

Basque nationalism

The main theme of this thesis is the basque nationalism, its origin, its development and especially terroristic organisation ETA. The aim is to demarcate briefly the origin of the basque nation and the creation of its national identity, which grew into a radical nationalism. This work is divided into five parts. The first chapter is concerned with origin of the basque nation and its language. Then the analysis is focused on the causes and development of the basque nationalism. The third and fourth chapters are devoted to the terroristic organization ETA, especially the circumstances of its formation and its activities during the period of the dictatorship of General Francisco Franco. The fifth and the last chapter referes to statistics of further extension of the basque language, the number of victims murdered by the ETA and also the ways of protesting against the activities of the terrorist group.
Position of the Basque country in Spain

The Basque country is one of the 17 autonomous communities of Spain, where it has extraordinary position. The aim of this thesis is to present the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country and specifics of the basque nationalism. First two chapters deal with the main factors of the basque nationalism, its origin and describe the evolution of the basque autonomy up to the present. The thesis also payes attention to the role of the terroristic organization ETA, its evolution and influence on the basque political scene. Last chapter analyses the position of Basque country from the political and economic point of view and compares its position with another two autonomous communities - Catalonia and Galicia.
