Fostering Polar Cooperation: A Comparative Analysis of the Arctic and Antarctic Models
McGuire, Sarah ; Karlas, Jan (advisor) ; Lipovský, Milan (referee)
As sea ice melts and Arctic waterways become increasingly navigable, the importance of effective polar governance has never been higher, especially with heightened geopolitical tensions across the globe. Unlike its southern counterpart, the Arctic region is not governed by a single treaty, but rather a network of agreements and an international forum - the Arctic Council - designed to make recommendations and facilitate cooperation among the eight Arctic states. The objective of this study was to confirm if the Arctic Council and its governing instruments exhibit hard law or soft law characteristics and to consider the advantages and disadvantages of each. The subsequent objective was then to determine if there are lessons the Arctic can learn from the Antarctic, which is largely considered to be a successful example of hard law, and what barriers may be preventing the implementation of such improvements. Abbott and Snidal's Concept of Legalization was applied to determine the degree of legalization of treaties and agreements negotiated under the auspices of the Arctic Council and the products of its working groups by assessing their levels of obligation, precision, and delegation. This research found that the Arctic Council's contribution to Arctic governance does predominately exhibit soft law...
Accuracy of engineering products in manufacturing
Škoda, Zdeněk ; Šrámek, Jan (referee) ; Jankových, Róbert (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the precision of engineering products in high-volume custom manufacturing. Engineering metrology has undergone significant innovations in recent decades to unify the evaluation approaches of quality and accuracy of engineering products. The main contribution of the thesis is a proposal for the implementation of new procedures in the quality control process in the company. To justify the introduction of the new philosophies into the existing processes used in the collaborating company, the thesis includes experiments in which the differences between the old and new approaches are compared. Based on the evaluation of the experiments, measures suitable for implementation are recommended.
Long-term accuracy and repeatability testing of linear positioning devices
Konečný, Mikuláš ; Šubrt, Kamil (referee) ; Houška, Pavel (advisor)
Measuring the real performance of a linear motion actuators plays an important role in their design. It enables a thorough understanding of key elements of its design, which might cause unprecise actuation. This paper in cooperation with Thermo Fisher Scientific Brno s.r.o. aims to test one of its devices. The device is a single axis linear actuator that moves several different detectors inside a scanning electron microscope chamber. The main goal of experimental measurements is to evaluate the performance of anti-backlash nuts and their impact on precision and repeatability.
The mechanical model of five-bar linkage robot.
Večeřa, Václav ; Chromý, Adam (referee) ; Burian, František (advisor)
This work presents the problem of designing a planar pantograph for the required dimensions of the working space and the subsequent follow-up methods to design the length of the arms, which will ensure this range. According to these requirements, a mechanical model is created. For which is calculated and measured accuracy and precision of reaching the required position dependent on the setting error of the RX-64 servomotors and error in the length of arms due to method of manufacturing.
Specifics of laser and real firing from a small arms
Didek, Zdeněk ; Michalička, Vladimír (advisor) ; Fiala, Miloš (referee)
Title: Specifics of laser and real firing from a small arms. Goal: The aim of this study to gather information about real and laser shooting from small arms in connection with human physiology and biomechanics. The main benefit of a systematic grasp of the issue as an understanding of comprehensive information. To compare their differences, or to eventually laser-shooting as an instrument for testing soldiers in the Army of the Czech Republic. Methods: Literature search, which deals with the issue of shooting. For the elaboration of this work, the search for study sources was used, followed by their analysis and subsequent search of these obtained study sources. Results: The result of this work is a comprehensive understanding of shooting from real and laser weapons in terms of biomechanics and human physiology and its impact on shooting performance. When comparing real and laser shooting, no significant penetration into the issue was found due to the insufficient number of sources and information about laser shooting. For this reason, a greater representation of the laser weapon cannot be justified in this work at the expense of the real weapon in the Army of the Czech Republic system, even though the use of laser weapons in training is a cheaper financial issue in the long run. Key words: Army,...
Measurement of GNSS receiver parameters
Beneš, Jiří ; Lázna, Tomáš (referee) ; Jílek, Tomáš (advisor)
Goal of this thesis is to propose and realize a viable method to determine static a dynamic parameters of GNSS receivers. Thesis begins with research of GNSS, foremostly determining position and associated uncertainties of measurement. Following chapter contains research of GNSS receivers, data flow and methods of evaluating parameters of such measurements. Summary of obtained information is then used to schedule measurements, assemble experiment and create evaluating metrics. Main selected evaluating metric is weighted histogram of deviations with extended information. Aplication of proposed metrics onto measurements of GNSS receivers augments available information of GNSS receiver accuracy for whole range of values. This metrics also supplies additional statistical information about course of measurement.
