System of services for homeless people in Prague

The Diploma thesis called "The system of services for homeless people in Prague" is focused on answering the main research question: "What is the demographic structure of homeless people in Prague using social services?". The first chapter is devoted to the theory of homelessness, its development, changes and society's responses in according to this socially pathological phenomenon. The second part of the Diploma thesis focuses directly on the situation of homeless people. Firstly, the definition of social services is described, I also focus on social prevention services that help solve the problem. I also describe problematic areas of homelessness and their solutions in the context of social services aimed at minimizing the negative effects of homelessness, preventing its development, as well as preventive action. The third part is focused on explaining the notion of demography, its exploration and interpretation of basic terms, the definition of which is necessary for the understanding of the research part of the Diploma thesis. I present here the results of the first official Census 2011 of homeless people in the Czech Republic. Analysis of the issue of people with addiction in shelters

The thesis is based on the assumption that the shelters are used by people dependent on addictive substances. Asylum houses provide shelter to those in need to improve their quality of life, but do not provide professional assistance to persons dependent on addictive substances. The objective of my work is to analyze the possibilities to applicate an addictologist in a shelter for the homeless. I also examined the rules for entry and stay in the facility, typical patterns of drug use, and how employees of the shelter works with people with addictions, or how they cooperate with addictology services. To the data acquisition were used two methods of a conversation with the staff of the shelter open and half-structured. Another method was participant observation, study of internal rules and informative emails of the shelter. This is a case study of the one particular shelter. Most users of the shelter shows signs of addiction and addictologist would have applied here. Employees are very skeptical to treat addictions of users in the shelter, but addictologist could be applied in other activities that would focus on the needs of this target group. Social Entrepreneurship: Pragulic, City tours through the eyes of the homeless

Social Entrepreneurship is a fairly new but increasingly popular way of creating social value and at the same time an opportunity to build sustainable organisations. The concept covers diversw forms of organisations that use innovative approaches to solve social issues through business means. This thesis shows how such organisations work through the example of the social enterprise Pragulic, which employs homeless as city guides. The aim of this thesis is to describe the operations of the enterprise from different perspectives (social-economical and political). Furthermore, it aims to discover which factors influence operations of the enterprise, what constitute a social impact on stakeholders and with which approach it corresponds the best. The first part of the thesis introduces the historical context and terms which are linked with social entrepreneurship. It describes the most significant areas, reflects the regional diversity and shape a new methodology for research on social enterprises. The Empirical part combines methods such as autoethnography which reflect personal experience of a founder, semi-structured interviews with guides, and analysis of documents, which are link to the organization's work. The idea of home of homeless and its reality on area of town Pilsen

(in English): The diploma thesis is focusing on reality of homelessnes. It is supposed to be some kind of a probe into the life of homeless people. The main goal of this thesis is to chart the reality and idea of home of the homeless. Also to find out how they live, what relations they have with their families and with each other and last but not least, what are their hopes for future. The thesis is divided into theorethical and practical parts. In the theoretical part of it the main concepts are desribed. The reader is presented with evolution, typology, main causes of homelessnes and also with problems which homless people are facing daily. The last part is focused mainly on help for homeless. Practical part is focused on research itself, which implemented with semistructured interviews answered by 15 homeless people. The facts concerning mainly the idea of stable accomodations were determined within the research survey.
Comparison of Tools for Measuring Homelessness at Local and Regional Level

The thesis deals with the issue of enumerating and mapping the needs of the homeless. It compares tools for measuring homelessness which are described in literature and shows the way for implementation of measuring within the area of smaller municipalities. Findings about homelessness, homeless phenomenon and services for the homeless published in the literature are discussed at the beginning of the theoretical part. The core fragment of the theoretical part is devoted to a discussion on the basis and ways of measuring homelessness both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Different tools for measuring homelessness are compared in the thesis, appended with commentaries reflecting author's own multiyear experiences with providing services for target group and his involvement in surveys. The empirical part describes the process of verifying the applicability of the given methodology for enumerating and mapping the needs of homeless in practice. The procedures how author reached the final adjustments of the given methodology are described in this part. The modified methodology for counting and mapping the needs of homeless is presented in the conclusion. At final stage the modified methodology is compared with the methodology used for enumerating homeless in the United States.
Reasons for homelessness among young people

Bachelor thesis on "Reasons for homelessness among young people" is about young people without their home. It deals with the definition of homelessness, explanation of who is person with no home, history and specifics of homelessness. This theme also deals with the specific reasons why young people get on the street. It also includes the risks associated with homelessness, services and organizations for people without their home and projects supporting the homeless. The aim of my research is to determine the reasons and causes why young people get on the streets. As a method I chose discussion and interview held with young homeless people.
