Kopáčik, Vladimír ; TŮMA, Jaroslav (advisor) ; ČERNÝ, Pavel (referee)
The Master's Thesis Sigfrid Karg-Elert: Passacaglia and Fugue on B-A-C-H, op.150 concentrates both on the composer's life and this specific composition. The thesis traces the history of the formation of the composition. It begins by offering insights into the perception of music at the beginning of the 20th Century. I then attempt to show the relationship between the composer's life and his work, dealing with his musical language and his various compositions. The main topic is the formation of the composition "B-A-C-H" and an analysis. In the chapters devoted to the main topic, I analyze the circumstances under which the work was composed, giving attention both the "how" and the "why" and considering such aspects as form, theme, and harmony. In the last chapter, I describe the composer's concert tour of North America, where this work was composed, allowing the reader to have some sense of Sigfrid Karg-Elert's skill as a performer.

Symbol and architecture
Richter, Jan ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor) ; Matějů, Martin (referee)
The thesis attempts to define and capture the relation of symbol and architecture, which is taken into account in two main thematic areas. The first area deals with the issue of symbol, which is presented on the basis of classification of symbols in two types - progressively restitutive and regressively reductive - as it was proposed by professor Borecký in the Czech culturology studies. In line with the culturological interdisciplinarity, understanding symbol is showed from different points of view adopted by various humanities such as philosophy, psychology, sociology, cultural anthropology or religious studies. The examples of concepts of symbol are taken from prominent scholars of these domains, focused especially on S. Freud, C. G. Jung, E. Cassirer, P. Ricoeur, C. Geerz or M. Eliade. The second part of the thesis is concerned in symbolic conception of the world and its architectonic representation. Understanding phenomena of reality reflects in founding places and their development into significant space for human existence by architectonic representations of symbolic meanings. The architecture is presented here as amalgamation of architectural craft with symbolic contents. Especially the ideas of phenomenologically oriented authors, such as Ch. Norberg-Schulz, D. Veselý and others, are taken into...

Explanatory factors of consumer behaviour: the survey of organic food consumers conducted on sample of inhabitants of Prague and Znojmo district
Zvěřinová, Iva ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Vlček, Josef (referee)
Production, processing, transport and consumption of food form a significant part of the environmental burden. Organic farming and organic food production represent for many experts, policymakers and for a part of lay public a way to reduce the environmental burden. The volume of organic food production hinges on, among others, the willingness of consumers to prefer organic food to conventional food and also to change consumer behaviour. Although organic food consumer and purchase behaviour is sometimes found to be environmentally motivated, health motives are prevailing in many developed countries. Recently, organic food consumption has grown significantly in developed countries. The diploma thesis is for these reasons aimed at analysis of motivational factors and barriers that affect consumer's purchase decision-making related to organic food. First, the overview of scientific literature concerning organic food consumption behaviour is presented. Factors that explain it can be divided into four major types: attitudinal variables, contextual forces, personal capabilities and habits. In the diploma thesis, we focus on risk perception, which can be classified as the attitudinal variable. Considering the perception of health and environmental risks, it is important to point out that manufactured...

Záluský, Jan ; Kopecký, Martin (referee) ; Tureckiová, Michaela (advisor)
Graduation thesis Characteristics of leadership of employees in another language than their native focuses on the questions of leadership of non native speakers. It proposes special importance of understanding cultural diversity, comprehension and compliance with this diversity. The personality of a manager who leads cross cultural teams is also researched, primarily concerning the characteristic and capabilities which are required for an effective leadership of non native workers. The practical part is related to the analysis of a field research which I conducted by the technique of participating observation at US and Canadian workplaces in 2005 and 2007. The goal of my research was to describe in detail attitudes, habits and mechanisms to which native speakers adhere to, consciously or unconsciously, when leading cross cultural teams.

Key competencies as precondition for lifelong learning
