This has an impact on deepening gender stereotypes and feminization or masculinization of some labour fields. The Result of this development is the difference in wages, due to the higher concentration of men in better-paid wage employment. Kvasnička, Jan ; Pavlíček, Tomáš (advisor) ; Štípek, Vladimír (referee)
This thesis estimates the impact of the adoption of the EU's directive on 40% female representation in the supervisory boards of large listed companies on the labor market of the Czech republic. The main outcome is identificaion of the companies, which would be affected by the regulation. The theoretical part covers basic arguments of proponents and opponents of the measure. The practical part accurately examines the direcitve, compares it with the regulations adopted in other European countries and on the basis of this comparison outlines the effects that can be expected on the Czech labour market. Based on the analysis of the criteria matched with reality of Czech Republic it compiles a list of companies affected by the adoption of the directive. Processed data about the boards of these companies also provide current statistics on their current composition (from a gender and nationality perspective). The results suggest that, at least in the short term, the measures would not yield a significant improvement in gender equality in the Czech Republic.
Political Representation of Women in the Czech Republic
Kuželová, Tereza ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Reschová, Jana (referee)
This thesis deals with the women's representation in Czech political parties. Its aim is to capture the parliamentary parties' ideas about the women in politics and subsequently to assess to what extent these parties meet their ideas. The thesis also identifies the most important barriers to women's participation in politics, which are based on the responses obtained from surveys with politicians. The thesis firstly describes some basic concepts, which are essential for the understanding of the problem as a whole. Than it characterizes the development of the role of women in the Czech lands from the 19th century to the communist period. Afterwards, the attention is paid to the impacts that act on the representation of women in politics. From this theoretical basis goes the thesis into the analysis of the current parliamentary parties, where it is found, that not all parties which declare equality of opportunity for women and men meet this equality in reality. But this dependence can be also applied vice versa, even parties that don't openly declare the equality of men and women may actually be inclined to women. The whole thesis is concluded with the evaluation of questionnaire.
