German presidency of the Council of the European Union
Novotný, Ondřej ; Sršeň, Radim (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
The Bachelor thesis deals with German presidency of the Council of the European Union after the end of the Cold War. The aim is to characterize the development of German European policy during this period and to determine the role of the institute of presidency for its largest member. The first chapter defines the EU from various theoretical approaches, especially from the perspective of realism and idealism. It also characterizes the formation, functions and objectives of the institute of presidency and discusses the issue of position of large and smaller states. The second chapter describes the objectives, progress and results of all three of the German presidencies (1994, 1999 and 2007), based on which is in the third chapter carried out their comparison and analysis of German European policy changes. In the last chapter, I evaluate and analyze the role of Germany in the EU Council and on that basis I propose some steps that Germany could take in the next presidency. The author concludes that a big state like Germany is able (unlike smaller states) to advance it's own interests also without the institute of EU presidency, but even so, this institution represents for this big state an important instrument for promoting various policies.

Self-harming in perspective of child line

Potencial of Authentic Space and its Limits
Koníčková, Tereza ; Matásek, Petr (advisor) ; Žižka, Tomáš (referee)
In this paper I have dealt with various perspectives on the premises, authentic space, which is inspirating by own information about itself, which is bringing spirit of the place, which maybe hide some story. It is question of strong feeling, which is saying to you - have breake here and try to see something. At first I am writing this text leaning on my own experience, followed by factual information and sources that touch on or have they dealt with other artists, art groups and directions. I try to outline the options and procedures that space offers such a different way can inspire you to create images, animations, public events, performances, workshops, dance ... My goal is to offer readers a taste of this work and a hint of manifold variety of creation, which is a authentic space associated. The key issue for me is my master's project Bathrooms, whom I dealt with in cooperation with Tereza Benesova last two years of Master's studies at Damu in Prague alternately in the Czech Republic and France. Verifying the potential of space as such and researching its limits.

Longterm analysis of beaver foraging - Do beavers sawing off the branch on which they are sitting?
Bartoň, Marian ; Vorel, Aleš (advisor) ; Jarmila, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis is focused on the analysis of eurasian beavers foraging behaviour and their strategy of getting food in the long-term perspective. First part (theoretical) of the thesis contains an explanation of the theory of the central place foraging, animal selective behaviour when food is selected and central place foraging influence on trees fertility. In this part is also mentioned the predation risk or how does the beaver perceives competitive pressure from other animals, and factors that can cause the change in population density of beaver colonies. The objective of this work is to determine the effect of long-term beaver populating on the volume of comsumed biomass and expanse of the territory, and a comparison of these results with one another in terms of different times of occupated territories. The second part describes the methodical procedure of the field survey. Data I collected from the areas of Šumava, Český les and South Moravia. I tried to find out, how the beaver´s foraging behaviour is induced depending on time inhabiting the territory and on increasing distance from the shore. This research shows that the beaver trips for food increases with age of occupation in 7-10 years and then the distance of tree cuts declined again from the shore. The volume of consumed biomass in reliance of increasing time of beaver occupation also decline and the most favoured tree species was an oak tree for which beavers were willing to walk long distances. The results of the simple analysis are presented as a measurement for both the entire region and also for each territory.

Political Aspects of Local Government. Elections and Voting Behaviour of the Residents of the Town Kopidlno
Ječná, Jitka ; Kopřiva, Radek (advisor) ; Lenka, Lenka (referee)
The thesis is conceived as a case study. The main goal is to verify the applicability of the theory of voting behaviour in a specific sample of municipality voters in the Czech Republic. The object of the research is to determine which factors influenced the decision of voters in the municipal elections for the Town Council of Kopidlno in 2010 and 2014. The theoretical part deals with a description of the basic concepts primarily related to democracy, with a specific emphasis on the local character. The theoretical perspective further concerns with the issues of elections including characteristics of different kinds of electoral systems and accessible theories of voting behaviour. The practical part primarily characterizes the town of Kopidlno in historical, demographic and political perspective. Further, the study focuses on the local political entities. The following chapters summarize and analyze the results of the municipal elections in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. The final part summarizes the results obtained in an independent questionnaire survey used as a research tool to analyse voting behaviour of the residents of Kopidlno.

Waste management Karlovy Vary Airport
Sýkorová, Heda ; Mikulová, Vlastimila (advisor) ; Ivana, Ivana (referee)
This bachelor's thesis on the subject of Waste Management at Karlovy Vary Airport is divided into three main parts. The first part presents literary research that comprehensively describes the given issues from the perspectives of the valid waste management legislation of the Czech Republic, the European Union, and Karlovy Vary County. The waste streams of the Czech Republic are described, as well as the existing obligations of treating them. The second part of this thesis focuses on summarising the available information about Karlovy Vary Airport and its waste management. With the help of statistic indicators, the development of waste management in the studied period of 2008 2015 is analysed. The analysis centres on communal and hazardous waste, as well as animal and plant by-products and their handling. The last part of the thesis is partly theoretical, comparing the waste management of the studied territory with other international airports, and includes suggestions for improving waste management as the number of passengers increases.

Large deformation - large amount of unknown
Fiala, Zdeněk
Finite deformations are exposed from a viewpoint of differential geometry. From this perspective infinite dimensional Riemannian geometry of Riemannian metrics is emplyed to propose novel objective time derivative by means of covariant derivative.

Maternal behaviour in Giraffes (Giraffidae)
Gloneková, Markéta ; Baranyiová, Eva (advisor) ; Luděk, Luděk (referee)
Allomaternal care is one of the most interesting types of cooperation among females. Its most extreme form is allonursing, nursing of a non-filial young, which is still not completely understood, even though many hypotheses have been postulated. This type of cooperation among giraffes had not been expected for long time. This was based on the initial opinion that giraffes do not have social system and form only weak social bonds. However, my bachelor and master theses showed high occurrence of allonursing in captive giraffes. The first aim (1) of this thesis was to test all possible hypotheses explaining allonursing in captive giraffes. However, a lot of the information needed to test them were missing, which resulted in the formulation of further aims. The second aim (2) was to test the hierarchy in captive giraffes. The third aim (3) was to describe the growth and weight of captive giraffes. The fourth aim (4) was to compare nursing patterns in the zoo and in the nature reserve Bandia, Senegal and the last aim (5) was to test the social bonds among giraffes in the nature reserve Bandia, Senegal. (1) From 2007 to 2011, the nursing behaviour of 24 females and 37 calves was observed. Eighty-three percent of the females allonursed a nonfilial calf and 86.5% of calves allosuckled from a nonmaternal female. Allonursing in giraffes was explained by milk-theft from the point of view of the calves and possible reciprocity among females. (2) The agonistic interactions of 31 giraffes were recorded in four herds. A linear hierarchy was been found among giraffes and rank was significantly affected by age and time spent in the herd. (3) The weight data from 43 giraffes in Prague zoo were collected from 2009 to 2013 and provided the basic information about giraffe growth and weight. (4) I also observed the nursing behaviour of seven and four female-calf pairs in the fenced Bandia reserve, Senegal, and in Prague zoo, respectively, both for 22 days. The differences in nursing patterns were likely to reflect anti-predator behaviour, the population density of animals and the distribution of food resources. (5) Finally, I investigated the social preferences of 28 introduced giraffes in semi-captivity in the nature reserve Bandia, Senegal and provided the results supporting the existence of a fission fusion social system among giraffes with social preferences among adult females. The overall results provide unique findings on allonursing in general as well as changing our perspective on giraffe social behaviour.

Effect of linoleic and α-linolenic acidis in pig nutrition on quantity and quality of intramuscular fat of pork with emphasis on the n-6/n-3 PUFA-spectrum
Vehovský, Karel ; Stupka, Roman (advisor)
Human nutrition is a function of nutrients' intake from food. The essential nutrients needed by the human body to produce energy, growth and repair of cells, tissues and organs and which accepts in the human diet, are fats. They are obtained from plant or animal sources. Especially animal fats are often ranged among the unpopular food components. Czech Republic is a country with traditionally high consumption of pork. Recently, about healthy foods greatly increase the interest. These include some animal products having an altered composition of fatty acids in fats. The content and composition of saturated and unsaturated fatty acids in human nutrition are important for protecting of human health. The high content of saturated fatty acids in foods and unfavorable ratio between the n-6 and n-3 fatty acids may be the cause of many diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases. Fats in the diet should contain saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids, in a ratio of about 1: 1.4: 0,6. From a health perspective, the most important are the n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Animal fats, however, contain sufficient n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, n-3, however, a little. Pork meat quality from the viewpoint of fatty acids composition is currently not very favorable. Significant effects on the fatty acids profile of animal fats have the fats in the feed. It is thus the possibility of by using the diet to influence the composition of fatty acids in the fat in pig. The work is focused on the possibility of influencing the fatty acids composition of pork intramuscular fat using supplementation of different sources and different feeding techniques of unsaturated fatty acids in the feed in pigs. In the experiment, as a source of unsaturated fatty acids the supplement of the rapeseed or soybean oil was used. The results demonstrate that the above unsaturated fatty acid sources significantly changes the fatty acid composition of intramuscular fat.
