Thin Photoresponding Elements with Frequency and Amplitude Modulations
Klusoň, Petr ; Morozová, Magdalena ; Dzik, P. ; Veselý, M.
Nanoscale templated metal oxide thin films undoubtedly appertain to the most extensively studied materials due to their optical and electrochemical properties. Their photo-induced properties arise from the semiconductor nature, especially from the ability of the light quantum absorption followed by the charge carrier generation. In order to produce metal oxide thin layer layers, the liquid sol containing also the templating bodies, and confining nanoparticles, must be coated onto a substrate. Various coating techniques have been used for this purpose, such as dip-, spin- or spraycoating. Recently a new promising deposition technique has appeared. The novel approach is usually termed piezoelectric jet material deposition or shortly material printing. In this case the ink is the specially formulated liquid purposed for transporting functional components onto the substrate surface. This technique brings the possibility of direct patterning, i.e. the fabrication of 2D patterns on the substrate without the need of any mechanical or optical masking. Material printing has been already employed for the deposition of variety functional materials.

"...and all the men and women merely players." Application of Game Theory on Jane Austen' s Narrative
Starobová, Eva ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Chalupský, Petr (referee)
Game theory is a branch of applied mathematics, whose main aim is to analyze various decision situations and predict their outcomes. This work applies game theory on three Jane Austen novels, namely Emma, Persuasion, and Pride and Prejudice. Analyzing the main topic in the plots (courtship, engagement and marriage) from the point of view of game theory and establishing the payoff matrices for each game described in the novel, we can observe several parallels in the three novels and the specifics of each of them. Respecting the limitations given by the nature of our source of information, this overall analysis allows us to reach conclusion about the predominant characteristics of the novels and proves applicability of game theory on literary work and theory.

A view of the society in the novel of Camilo José Cela La familia de Pascual Duarte
Kýnová, Jana ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (referee) ; Fousek, Michal (advisor)
For my thesis I investigate the negative social phenomena described in Camilo José Cela's novel, "La familia de Pascual Duarte" [Pascual Duarte's Family] (1942), namely the existentialist feelings of an individual, violence and crime, cynicism and indifference, the submisive role of women in society and machismo. After analyzing the circumstances and motivations of the characters, I present a brief portrayal of peasant life in Southern Spain around the time of the Civil War. My analysis demonstrates that there is a close interrelationship among the social phenomena listed above, since ultimately they derive from the same root factors. My paper examines the unique nature of this rural community, its customs and particularly its moral values. Individual pride and prestige are key virtues, but they rest solely on the opinions of one's neighbors in the community. Under the surface there is only hypocrisy, prejudice and malice. The characters in the novel are biased and superstitious. They blindly accept the reality of miracles and supernatural phenomena, as well as foreboding omens. A harsh and cruel feudalism still overshadows the country, reflecting its inhabitants' primitivism and lack of culture. The community's struggle to provide the basic necessities to all its members precludes the possibility that the...

Novel stationary phasis in HPLC for the analysis of biologically active compounds for clinical applications-determination of retinoic acid
Vlčková, Hana ; Solich, Petr (advisor) ; Nováková, Lucie (referee)
All-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and 13-cis-retinoic acid (13-cis RA) are naturally occurring retinoids. All-trans-retinoic acid plays multiple roles in reproduction, embryogenesis, cellular differention, vision and immune response and is also used therapeutically in acute promyelocytic leukemia. Tocopherols are major serum antioxidants. Both retinoids and tocopherols are studied as chemopreventive and therapeutic agents in cancer patients. In the present study, a simple and rapid HPLC method was developed for simultaneous determination of fat-soluble vitamins and retinoic acids (retinol, all-trans retinoic acid, 13-cis retinoic acid, gamma- and alpha-tocopherol) in human serum using monolithic technology. The monolithic column Chromolith Performance RP-18e (100 mm × 4.6 mm) was operated at ambient temperature. Mobile phase (MF) consisted of mixture Acetonitrile (ACN) : 1% ammonium acetate in water (AMC) at pH 7.0 starting with ACN : AMC 98:2 (column pre- treatment) at flow rate 2ml/min following 4,2 minutes ACN:AMC 95:5 at the flow rate 1.5 ml/min than 3 minutes flow rate 3,2ml/min with the same mobile phase. Detection and identification was performed using photodiode array detector. Retinol, 13-cis- and all-trans- retinoic acid were monitored at 325 nm. Alpha- and gamma-tocopherol were carried out...

The question of identity in José Donoso's novels
Měřičková, Kateřina ; Vydrová, Hedvika (advisor) ; Housková, Anna (referee)
My work treats the problem of identity in four of Donoso' s novels: Coronación, Este domingo, El lugar sin límites and El obsceno pájaro de la noche. I have called them "the chilean cycle" for the reason that Chile is still their scene. Between 1967 - 81, Donoso lives in Spain, so naturely his work is inspired by a different background. The problem of identity is for a1l of them a common denominator. It appears on the first point of vue like the individual problem of the humant beeing, however it is condicioned by the social relations. Besides, it pursues a certain graduating tendency, it is more and more urgent, like we can observe it in the treatment of the protagonists. This evolution is also ref1ected in the form of the novels which issues from the realism and approches more and more of the experimental novel.

Towards an Eco-inspired poetics of minimalist narrative
Kuzmičová, Anežka ; Pokorný, Martin (referee) ; Bílek, Petr (advisor)
What is a minimalist narrative, and what are its characteristic features? How do you identify one? For many critics, minimalist writing is a strictly historical notion - even though they at the same time, like John Barth does in his famous apologetics "A Few Words About Minimalism", paradoxically enough stress its ubiquitous nature throughout literature of all times. By narrative minimalism the American critic generally means the austere style of the novels and short stories of Raymond Carver, Amy Hempel, Mary Robison, Joan Didion, Ann Beattie. An American literary current of the 1970s mainly, devoted merely to the quotidian, descriptive, often reduced to what can be perceived from the outside of a human character. Thereby: the "dirty realism" or "K-mart realism". These derogatory labels tell us that the literary reviewer and critic of today still formulates his terms and judgments out of a hierarchically ordered, traditional presupposition of what a narrative text is and should be, working with a virtual model of balance between "form" and "content". Translated into the language of classical narratology: story discourse.

Torrente Ballester's novel La saga/fuga de J.B. as a rehabilitation of imaginative prose
Poláková, Dora ; Forbelský, Josef (advisor) ; Vydrová, Hedvika (referee) ; Fousek, Michal (referee)
When the novel La saga/fuga de J.B. (The Saga/Fugue of J.B.) came out in 1972, Gonzalo Torrente Ballester (1910-1999) had a long and extensive literary career behind him, but one which was marked by failures and the indifference of readers and critics. This novel, however, caused a sensation and was highlighted as Spain's answer to the Latin American "boom", as a proof that resourcefulness and unfettered imagination have their place in the Old World too… So although this was the author's magnum opus, which has naturally been the subject of a wide variety of studies and analyses, I think it has not been completely exhausted as a theme. In my work I attempt to perceive it not as a unique work of artistic creation by the author but also as the logical outcome of previous writing - it is this perception that I find lacking in the literature available on the novel and its author. For La Saga/fuga de J.B. contains constants in it which appear in a different form in Torrente Ballester's work from 1943, when he made his debut as a novelist with his book Javier Mario.Historia de una conversión/Javier Mario. The story of a conversion. And it also represents not only the result of many years of practical experience in writing novels but also the product of deep theoretical reflection on the genre. Torrente combines in...

Preliminaries of probabilistic hierarchical fault detection
Jirsa, Ladislav ; Pavelková, Lenka ; Dedecius, Kamil
The paper proposes a novel probabilistic fault detection and isolation (FDI) system that enables to evaluate dynamically the industrial system condition (health) at any level of its functional hierarchy. The investigated industrial system is considered as a set of interconnected individual components. Each component acts in its noisy environment as an imperfect participant, more or less dependent on neighbouring components and, in turn, influencing some others. The nature of the problem prevents us from expressing sufficiently hard propositions about the health of the system as a whole at once but we can observe and construct propositions at lower system hierarchies. These propositions (opinions) are combined at higher levels using the rules of probabilistic logic, retaining the ignorance and finally yielding a single opinion on the health of the whole monitored system.

Director of the National Theatre
Urbánková, Monika ; ČUŘÍKOVÁ, Tamara (advisor) ; SRSTKA, Jiří (referee)
Diploma thesis "Director of the National Theatre - statute development" was primarily created as a historically-explorational work, which helps to look into this inherent chapter of the Czech republic history from a different point of view that is usual. The very core part comprises of the National Theatre statutes, which are described through similar pattern and thus bring natural comparison of this institution evolution. The Diploma thesis begins in the year 1929, when the nationalism of the National Theatre took place, and culminates with the first democratic statute in the year 1993, or more precisely with its novella in 1994. The work is enriched by look into the history of our country, as every chapter starts with a short summary of given time period for easier reader's orientation. Part not to be also missed is formed by legal aspects concerning the National Theatre in selected time period. I believe, that the work "Director of the National Theatre - statute development" will be useful to all future readers, who would like to understand the basic functioning of this organisation and the role of its director over the period of more than sixty years.
